Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I know several people have had issues with room requests online for Pop lately, so I thought I'd try here...I made my requests online when my online check-in window opened a couple of weeks ago. Now, the requests aren't showing, and when I tried to add them back, I was getting no options in the drop down menu. I tried calling to add my request, but was told by the CM that she could not see my reservation because I had booked through a third party (I made my reservation via Orbitz). The reservation is linked to my MDE account, and I haven't had these issues before when I've booked Disney trips through Orbitz, though this year I did have more trouble linking the reservation than I have in the past. The CM told me to directly call Pop 10 days out from my trip, because they would be able to handle room requests at that point...this seemed a little odd to me because I was under the impression that all calls went to a call center, not the hotel itself? Has anyone else had this issue/would it be worth trying to call again?

The calls do all go to a call center. I think there might be a "reservations" number mentioned somewhere in this thread. It's still going to be a call center, but it might actually get you to the group who handles reservations. You can call any time to have your requests added to your reservation, but be sure to do it at least 5 days before arrival as that's when they start assigning rooms. Also, FWIW, a lot of people have been having the same issue with room requests on MDE lately. And it's property wide, not just at Pop. So don't worry that you're doing anything wrong. Some people have had success with either "accepting" the terms and conditions on that page and/or they open an incognito window before logging in. Those things work for some people, but not for others -- but it's worth a try.

Quick location question, as we're considering going to WDW next May (2018). We've only ever stayed at Riverside, and I had my heart almost set on French Quarter for the next trip, but budget concerns might take us to Pop. I'd rather "downgrade" hotels than not go at all, and Pop looks really good, especially the refurbed rooms.

Anyway, at Riverside, we always had a Garden View room, because we never have a car and prefer to not overlook the parking lot. From what I've seen of the booking categories at Pop, is it right that a standard room could be overlooking the lake? We seriously don't mind being far from things if we can not be on a parking-lot view, so that would be pretty cool, to be on the lake side of the resort but still paying standard.

Thanks in advance all of you awesome Pop-people! :)

Yep, you can have a Standard room and possibly get a view of the lake. It's not a guarantee, but that's actually what I'm hoping for when we go in February. Otherwise, there are some rooms in the 70s that face the middle with the Mickey statue that look cool!

In addition to what Haley said about a possible lake view, you can get a standard view room that is actually a nice, quiet view of trees/grounds/landscaping (so, kind of like garden).

I know that wasn't your question, but just a bit of encouragement that standard view can turn out all right :)

We love the 60's lake view!! I always feel like they've mis-priced when my room is so quiet with such a pretty view!!

Just a heads up that there is gondola construction right now but I'm sure the view would still be great!

Also, as Pop is a value resort, the hallways are on the outside. If you have your curtains open they will first face onto about a 4' common walkway and then onto the beautiful view.

Last year I stayed at pop in a standard room and using the recommendation of others I requested a 50's Building with a Lake View, and that's what I got! My view was so nice and I was even able to see fireworks some nights.
I really wanted to stay in the 50s, but they won't be done by March :(

I think I would love the '50s the most (we're rockabilly-swing dancers), but I'm not holding onto much hope that the refurb will be done by May. We'll see what we decide to do, we haven't officially decided we'd do the trip, but it is nice thinking there is the possibility of a nice non-parking-lot view with a standard room!

Unexpectedly, I now get to plan a trip - a girls trip in November 2018. When is the Pop renovation supposed to be finished?

it's supposed to be finished in the spring of 2018 but most cannot see them meeting that date based on what they have completed to date. Personally I would guess by Nov 2018 they should be done or almost done all renovations.

Try the online check in again this morning. It appears to finally be working again!!!

So many changes for our upcoming trip, which makes it even more exciting I guess :)

We're finally doing a split stay at Pop from Oct. 31st to Nov. 11th and at Bay Lake Tower from Nov. 11th to Nov. 18th.

But, at Pop, we actually have a split stay from Oct. 31st to Nov. 4th and then Nov. 4th to Nov. 11th (All Star Movies at first but Pop became available). Same room category. Is there any way we can make sure we actually keep the same room?

Thanks in advance!

You'll need to call and Guest Services can merge the reservations.

That's strange...Did the phone CM actually put you through to Guest Services?
Not strange, they can't guarantee anything until the time comes based on other reservations and check in/out dates, but they will do everything possible to avoid moving people. I did it 2 years ago and got lucky that I didnt have to move only because an incoming reservation my "Switch" day canceled.

I know they can't guarantee requests, but if you call and Guest Services merges your reservation then I would think that's as good as only having one. Without going to guest services, the phone CMs can only make a note that you want to stay in the same room, but that's not the same as merging it, that's just a request.
