Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE RESORTS Information & Questions

So, we have walked from the Swan to DHS in past years, crossing the bridge and talking the path that runs next to BWV. Now I'm wondering if it would be any better/faster to walk out the front doors, past the bus stop and down the path through the trees to the street, cross over that bridge, and down to the path on the other side. Does anyone have any experience/opinion on which path is better?

It really depends on where you are located at the Swan when you start out to HS.

If you are already near the Swan lobby you could use your selected alternate path. I will note that your alternate path takes you along Epcot Resort Blvd and East Buena Vista Dr which is much nosier due to the vehicle traffic and the vehicles are very close to the path.

Thanks for the info Dave. I thought it might save a few steps. We'll probably end up trying both since the boats aren't running to DHS.
I can't believe we'll be there in one week! Oh my, that just hit me :yay:

If you "make a green choice" by declining housekeeping, what are you actually declining? Does that mean no bottled water and coffee refills each day?

We declined last week and no one came into our rooms to tidy up but they left a bag of water bottles and coffee on our door. It was awesome.

But our points haven’t posted to Starwood yet. Any idea how long that should take?

I have made the green choice every time I’ve stayed at Any Starwood property. I have never had them post to my account without having to contact Starwood first unfortunately.
After contacting Starwood, it usually posts within a week.

Hi all!
Two questions:
1. Did I read somewhere (here?) that the TVs at the Swan are all SmartTVs, or do I need to bring a Roku if I want access to streaming services?
2. What are the current toiletries at the Swan?
Thanks!

We checked out yesterday and I checked my account today and they were there.

I stayed at the Dolphin and we had a Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc

I can’t remember the toiletries though... sorry! I know we had shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion but I don’t remember the brand.

A WWYD question for you Swolphin folks...
I missed the Hotwire deal for my days in August. (Going when family goes so dates are pretty set in stone.) Today the cash price for Dolphin went up about $50 to be the same as Swan. However, Swan added a cash and points deal. It’s $110 and 6,000 points a night for my dates to stay at Swan. Should I jump on this? Or hold out for something better? (Either Hotwire deal, Priceline, or anything else? I’m an AP holder, so the Costco packages aren’t for me.)
Thanks in advance!

Where are you quoting that from hedberg? We're going in a couple of weeks. I heard that may be the case but was hoping it wasn't.
I got this from the SPG site when you go to book either swan or dolphin.

Here is what it states on the SPG site, but that is different than what has been told for past couple weeks. It is in effect today, maybe a phone call to S/D will clear it up. or confuse it even more.

If it is cancellable, I would jump on it, and if a better rate becomes available, you can cancel and book with the better rate.

Well, well, well that is an interesting twist. That Special Condition indicates that they are working on the both bridge spans. The first span is right next to the Atlantic Dance building and the second span is the one that spans the actual canal to HS.

I think we will need to wait for someone to report from the grounds of the Swan / Dolphin to confirm.

Dave

Here is picture of the two bridge spans that might impact Friendship boat service from and to the Disney resorts, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. It may also show why the Special Condition indicates two (2) different time periods for the bridge work.
