I love credit cards so much!

Haha. I was going to suggest the Amex Blue Business Plus (BBP/BB+) credit card. 2x MR on every purchase up to $50k/yr. 20k MR/$5k/3 months MSR targeted offer, or 10k MR/$3k/3 months MSR via support link.

With the benefits changes coming to the Amex PRG, I’d put that up there as a keeper card.

The AX BBP is definitely high on my list for both me and DH once I whittle down my MSRs on Biz Plat, SPG Lux, and BGR! And now I have to figure out where PRG will fit in...

This is what I carry around my cards in and it's already full and doesn't hold all my cards. I feel like a prime mugging target.

I was planning to have DH apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve cards using one of the same day application strategies. He has never had either, and with the new 48 month rule... We are small time players in the points/miles game, rotating Southwest cards for companion passes, occasional BA Chase with a couple long-term cards thrown in. Great credit, income, and card utilization. Both apps would keep him under 4/24. Are there any data points or threads regarding the odds that this might trigger a Chase shut down?

You can't apply for both on the same day any more, they shut it down last week and even went back and cancelled cards for people that had done both on the same day. You'll want to pick which of the two is a better card for you and go that route.

It's no longer advised to apply for any two Chase cards on the same day, whether to circumvent the rules or combine a hard pull.

ETA - It's possible to discuss this without using that phrase :)

Do you need to carry them all? I only usually have 2 on me at a time. I have a phone case that holds cards so I have 2 cards and my Drivers license.

What are your keeper cards?

I have some expenses coming up so of course I need a new MSR. There are no sign-up bonuses that are especially appealing so I'm thinking I should maybe get a "keeper" card -- a lesser sign-up bonus but something that will be valuable over time. I'm over 5/24 so Chase is out and I probably should avoid AmEx as I just got two new AmEx cards last month.

I'm boring, a Discover card, Chase Freedom, and AmEx ED. My first Discover is my oldest card now and since it's the It Chrome there's not much incentive to churn it anyway. My new Discover it has churning possibilities due to the cashback match on 5% categories. My AmEx ED was a Blue card of some type (it earned MR) that they PC'd for me without my knowledge a couple years ago. But it's my 2nd oldest card and it's got no AF to hold all my MR's if I ever go crazy and start that earning road again. Since I'm still invested in Chase I plan to not rock the boat and mess with that one since it's my first actual Chase card (the rest were all co-brands) and it's 10 years old this year. So I'm probably not helpful :)

Being an AU on your cards for years should put him in a great position to get his own credit. I'd definitely check for something weird on his credit report.

Does Discover pull Equifax? A few months ago, Equifax started adding a lot of strange "remarks" to my account on Credit Karma (such as that I had disputed ownership of an account when I didn't) & when I went to check my report, they said my information "didn't match," so I had to request it by mail. It was crazy! I must have spent 45 minutes on the phone with them before they figured out the problem, which was on their end. I don't trust Equifax at all now :rotfl: & always suspect them when something like this happens to someone else.

I think they do pull EQ more often than not. They did for me last year and I think I hear more reports of EQ than any other.

D'oh, couple weeks too late for that. They are now doing a manual review of any applications submitted on the same day by one person. This has been resulting in one of the cards being closed, even if you were auto approved by the website and even if you applied for different card families. So not a full Chase shut down, but one of the cards would be. Couple posts over on Reddit from the r/churning sub outlines this recent development:

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9faw5u/death_of_the_doubledip_what_it_means_for_churners/
https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9flq7t/chase_double_dip_demise_data_point_thread/

The 48 month rule only applies to someone who has earned the bonus before, so if you also have not had the Sapphires before, you could each alternate applications for one. But with the recent changes it does suck to not be able to both of you double dip. :(

ETA: D'oh @afan, just realized I failed. Got all the way to the end and blew it on the last sentence!

I hope that’s not an actual picture of your wallet because wth are you doing carrying around $300 in cash? Your mugger will steal that, and it’s gone forever. Credit cards, they aren’t spending your money and you can close those cards and get them replaced. Might be a real pain calling up customer service for all those issuers though. Lol!

Do I need to? Well, it depends on what my errands entail since I try to group them geographically so that I'm not going all over the place, and without making a trip home to get different cards. And it irks me to drive by a store I could stop at but won't because I don't have the right card with me at the moment.

ETA: when it's just a quick errand nearby then I just take my phone, DL, and an MSR card + vgc that has a balance, but if it's a 15 min drive then I'm loading up lol. Today it's going to be Staples, HD, Nordstrom Rack, Walgreens for 2 RMN accts, BB to use the 6x URs before I pc my CSP to CF2.

Yes! This is why my purse is a muggers wet dream right now, I've got a couple hundred in GC's (because if I leave some at home invariably that's when I want to use them), like 12 credit cards, a couple debit cards and all 3 check books! I don't usually carry the check books or debit cards, but as I needed to use one it went in the purse and never came out :) I have to be more diligent about pulling everything out and putting it back in the safe. Same with the CC's, there's a few that don't get used regularly so they're supposed to go in the safe but it always feels like I'm abandoning them

Although this was a good wake up call so I've got a reminder to do the clean out tonight. (What a fun and exciting Friday night, hehe)

Whoever that wallet belongs to is definitely a churner! And she's into identity theft...Her license matches none of the names on the cards lol!

Thanks....I’ll go look into thoses...is there any one you’d recommend getting over the others ?
They are very different cards with different MSRs and returns. I’d suggest you evaluate each to determine which fits best. The BB+ is a good card to have with MRs because it has no AF and allows you to keep your MRs active.

Mine too. I carry more and more of the cards that I thought I would sock drawer. I get so annoyed when I realize I need to stop at 'XYZ' store and argh, I don't have the Amex card with the offer on it. So, I just got a bigger wallet and carry any card I even think I might need :D

:rotfl2:

Identity theft for sure. My question stands, why is she carrying around $300 in cash? Any self-respecting churner would only be carrying around “cash equivalents” like prepaid gift cards and money orders!

My strategy definitely has its fails. I have been keeping the Freedom and my SPG biz in my car so I have them for gas (Exxon for SPG). However, my car has been dead all week so I have been driving DDs car. Driving past Walgreens to do my RMN offer and oops, no Freedom card with me. Wanted to get gas and oops, neither Freedom nor SPG with me. I rarely use a purse anymore, but right now have 2 that have been in use lately and some cards in one and some in the other and I usually also just leave them in my car. So now I have to remember to grab them both as I go out the door. I need to get organized! And I need my own car back. I think its going to be a hefty bill and they don't take AMEX. Had car issues last time I had Amex MSR also. I will ask them if they can split payment and hopefully at least put a $500 VGC on it.

Some may remember that last November my wallet was stolen. It was horrendous. I lost about $150 in cash, stamps, movie tickets, a book of checks (which resulted in $4000 of bad checks being written using my drivers license as id), most of my credit cards, debit cards, etc. thankfully my gift cards were in my purse’s zipper compartment. I try now to inventory the cards in my wallet (I forgot about my HSA debit card when I cancelled everything and it was used), don’t carry checks, and rarely have cash on me. Losing a wallet is a nightmare:( and it’s very violating and slightly nerve wracking. It pretty much ruined my Christmas because it was so stressful.

I know exactly what you are talking about! My dd18 loved BC's too. She had the notebook of the 'thinking chair' with the big crayon. She had several BC's computer games also. My dh & I loved watching the show with her, and she still talks of her sadness when Steve went off to college lol!
Haha sounds just like me! I stopped watching the show when Joe came on. You can’t replace creepy Steve.

Yes I do! Your terrible incident is what prompted me to really reevaluate everything I was carrying. I tried to put the GC's in the safe too but I ended up not using them because it was always an impulse stop for most of them. Like have to stop at Target, oh BTW Home Depot is right next door I can pick up X while I'm there... except I left the HD GC at home in the safe :headache: So some GC's are in the safe and others ride around with me for the 'just in case' moments. But yeah, every time I stare a my huge wallet that hubby got me when I asked for it so I could carry all my cards in one place, I think about what happened to you and what could happen. Most of my problem is I do have so many cards the ones I use frequently are in a little pocket of my purse for quick access and the rest in the wallet is just convenience.

So definitely pulling that all out tonight and trying again. I just can't imagine. I am glad they caught the fraudster in your case, but that sucks all the hassle you had to go through.
