Cigarettes,Ice & Stroller News

I just popped over to the Keenz Stoller Wagons Facebook page. About an hour ago they put up a post saying that the new Disney ban has them heartbroken and they say "it will be affecting all our Keenz Families but most importantly our little Disney goer’s that love their stroller-wagon and the comfort it gives them at what used to be the “The Happiest Place on Earth”. (note the use of the phrase "what used to be")

They have a few hundred comments on the post, many of which indicate that children with special needs need this stroller wagon. Do you think that's accurate? Do you think that these stroller wagons fill a need that other strollers do not?

Keenz is also encouraging people to contact Disney and voice their discontent over the ban.

DH and I were just talking about this the other day. In all of our many trips to Epcot we've never experienced any "drunks" or any of the other things listed. We've been during festivals, no festivals, daytime
nighttime, lol. I hope we keep our streak alive!
I have seen some clearly intoxicated people at EPCOT, but the only time that ever bothered me was when it was en mass on New Year's Eve.

At $400 a pop I am sure they want people to contact Disney!

Yes, they do, at least security does, by the way, your attachment didn't work.
I needed to edit it to remove personal info, it should work now. I’m just posting what the actual rules are and it’s very clear what they are.

I am sure there are people who will claim that no other stroller can meet their child's need, Keenz were designed for children with special needs in mind, so that argument could be valid, but in the end those that need it will find another viable option for their kids.

Of course Keenz is heartbroken over it, I would guess about 80% of the business is people who frequent theme parks as I never really see them used elsewhere, the problem is they never encouraged those that use them to be courteous to others and not block walkways, doorways, sinks, etc.

I just came back from AK, was walking from Asia to Africa along the trail where they have their smoking section and a lady basically came at a food and beverage CM (the CM was pushing one of those soda carts) and started yelling at her that she just heard the news about the ban and that it was stupid and where will she be able to smoke. The poor CM looked cornered but tried to calm her down.....so please, do not yell or talk down or belittle the CM when you are on property just because you have a problem. I seriously feel bad for all the guest relations CM that are about to get hit
If you are annoyed or concerned about the new bans please address your feelings to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com
Again we can continue to talk about it here but Disney does not read these boards to the extent where they will address your personal problem so please direct all inquires to this email

That's terrible. No CM's should have to deal with that.

I would also encourage those who are happy about this change to e-mail and thank Disney for their efforts to protect people from secondhand smoke. It would be a shame if they only hear from the disgruntled, smoking guests who think they have a right to smoke in crowded, public parks.

Right, this would include all eCigarettes, Vapes, electronic smoking devices, etc. as they all produce some form of vapor or smoke. Even the so called "smokeless" devices still do so, although not as much.

Exactly right, although I do not want to comment too much before we see how well this is implemented and if it causes other issues at the park entrances.

I saw a mom pushing 4 babies (quads, so cute) at POR last trip. The stroller had 2x2...so sat 4 total. It really wasn't huge, but I don't think I would fit the requirements.

Get out your measuring tape ... the measurements are very generous! Still ridiculously big and can still be used as a battering ram in the way to 7DMT!

I only saw a couple of those Keenz wagons. I thought they looked ingenious, but they were stationery and not in my way, so what did I know? Anyway, how is that better for special needs than other mobility items? Also, I don't think the two I saw were being used for any special needs, unless it wasn't visible. There were small kids, which I thought was simply their use.

Since I never did see a problem with them, can someone enlighten me? What are the issues with them that are different than strollers of a similar size?

this is my thought too. personally that's not the first thing I want to see when I arrive to the happiest place on earth.

Actually, they all don’t. Ask my kids who are teachers. If they didn’t learn the tell tale signs of vaping, their kids would get away with it on a daily basis. You’re probably not familiar with the newer devices, but rest assured, there are ones that produce 0 vapor.

I'm thrilled about the No Smoking or Vaping in the parks. The smoking areas didn't seem to be separate from other areas (at least some of them - I don't know them all). You had to walk past them. You can't contain cigarette smoke. And there are always people smoking in non-smoking designated areas. I've seen them walking around smoking throughout the park.

How they will enforce it is what I would like to know.
We were once crossing in front of the castle, generally just enjoying a lovely day in the heart of the good ol' Magic Kingdom, when we saw a guy who was walking towards us blow out a huge cloud from his vape. Definitely not the kind of thing I wanted to see at that moment (or any moment, personally...but dang...don't be bringing your nasty habits into the middle of my Magic!)

I'm all for any banning of big strollers. I was 3 when we first went to Disney (just MK back then...but we did Sea World too). I barely remember it, but my mother swears I walked every step of it. She said I definitely didn't have a stroller. Someone may have carried me now and then, but for the most part, I was on my own two little feet! I tell her it's proof I was born to stroll the streets of Disney World!

there too large, most people pushing them had no clue how to measure their length and width, often ramming into other people/stroller/buildings....also they are harder and take more time to fold for people going in and out of buses.

Now they need to work on only allowing those with a medical need to ride the electric scooters. These things have exploded and clog up the pathways. The main reason is that folks that need them KNOW HOW TO USE THEM and the folks who get them just for the park do not and cause lots of delays. It has slowed the bus transportation to a crawl. In our most recent visit there was a very large couple that rolled up and got on the bus before a ridiculously long line of people. The driver loads both scooters and begins to belt the individuals in. Well they decided they were having no part in that and decided to let the empty scooters take up 3 seats each. On top of this, they walked to the very back of the bus and took up another 4 seats they were covering leaving one seat on each side by the window. Only small kids could fit the seats that were left on each side of them and 2 families picked up one of their kids and put them in those seats. In total this one couple took up 10 seats.

That is what I am hoping, that there is a place to store the banned stroller near the entrance so people could just pick them up at the end of their park day, instead of having to go all the way back to their car or resort.

Yes, the place to store the banned strollers will be right next to the new smoking areas!!

While I agree it should only be for people who need them, I can attest that some of the people who need them may be first time users. Ive had a knee acting up for several months now. Of course I will attempt to walk, but after day 1 or 2 if needed, I will have to get a scooter. As it feels today, I might even need it on my first day there. Could barely make it around the grocery store and hour ago. Limping is exhausting. I will need scooter lessons!
