Fluff thread: What weird thing do you find disgusting? (Not normal icky things; I mean oddities.)

Hair. Anywhere. I can't touch a brush. I use a pick on my hair if I use anything. I love when other people use a brush on me, but touching a brush, with hair in the combs of it. No.

If I find a hair in my food (people hair), I don't eat for days. Days!

It sucks because I have LONG thick hair.

Leftover bubbles in a sink!!

I can not use a sink that has leftover bubbles in it, even though I’m not touching them. I have to completely wash out a sink before I can use it.

Same goes for bubbles left in the sink after you wash dishes. The worst is when they’re all dried up and just crud. EWWWW
When my husband does the dishes, he'll just let the water drain out of the sink and walk away. It drives me nuts that he doesn't rinse all the bubbles out. But after all this time, he's not going to change, and I'm happy enough that I didn't have to do all the dishes that I just make sure that I go out and rinse the sink when he's done so that they don't dry out and get even worse.

Yep, my daughter has it bad. It's called trypophobia!!! I never realized it was a thing until a couple of years ago when she "self-diagnosed" :) Now it bothers me!
Can you give a couple of examples? I really can't even guess what kind of things this might be.
I can’t stand wearing nail polish. I hate how it feels on my fingertips. For a special occasion, I might wear it for a few hours, but as soon as I get home, I have to take it off and let my nails breathe. I could never wear fake nails; it would be so uncomfortable. :scared:
 I've got exactly the opposite problem. My fingernails actually hurt if they're not polished. It's extremely rare that I ever go without polish, like maybe one day every two or three years, but I swear I can feel it. I also can't stand to look at them if the polish gets chipped. I mostly only wear subtle colours so it's not so noticeable - it can really disrupt my day. I can't get my mind off it until I have a chance to get home and fix it up.

Mine hurt too if I have no polish on! I always thought it was from the rubbing when I take polish off, but I’m not sure. I rarely go without polish.

Google image search "trypophobia" and you'll get a lot of examples. Many photoshopped to be extra creepy looking.
OK, thanks. Obviously most of the examples are photoshopped to be like something out a nightmare. But the naturally-occurring things like strawberries, honeycomb or a sponge, I really don't understand the issue. :confused3

I nearly crawl out of my skin if someone at the dinner table asks for a toothpick and proceeds to use it *at the table.* NOOOO!!!! Go to the restroom and dig around in your mouth. Don't make everyone sitting at the table have to watch. :sad2:

I used to work in a candle store in the mall that was close to Piccadilly cafeteria. I cannot begin to tell you how many people would grab a toothpick at the cafeteria, walk around the store digging around their teeth and slurping on them, and then drop them on the floor!

I had to pick up people’s soggy gnarled up toothpicks all the time. 🤢

I see these things practically everywhere,
471661

I think they're really gross.

Sponges . Can’t even touch them for dishes . If I HAVE to; it has to be a new one from the package. They carry too much bacteria. I want to puke when I see people use them to wipe down tables at restaurants.

People making snot noises. DISGUSTING. Go to the bathroom and blow your nose! And when people cough on me. My husband often has to stand behind me in lines at Disney if there’s a cougher or someone making the snot noises behind me 😖

I can't stand wet peanut butter, like rinsing out a jar or wiping off a knife.

Can I like this twice? I'm reeeeeally trying to be good about recycling, so I most of the time I do clean the jars out, but it is sooooo yucky.

She most likely read about it some where and is seeking attention with it.

I have pretty severe trypophobia and so lots of things related to bumps gross me out, but the worst offender is leaves with the spores on them. If I see one laying on the ground, I have to scrape my shoe over it and crush the spores off the leaf.

Finding a hair in my food will freak me out enough that I can't eat. I mean, it really freaks me out! We are a household with three people with long hair too. When I cook, I am like a surgeon with my hair completely secured. My daughters, however, roam the kitchen with their hair in disarray. I once saw hair fly off of my daughter's head onto the stove top! One of my biggest fears is that a Thanksgiving will be ruined by hair in the stuffing (I had to toss the homemade cranberry last year as I found one!). I think I am crazy over obsessive and wish it didn't bother me so much. It was worse when I was pregnant. Eating pizza one day, I ended up with a long strand in my mouth--got up from the table and tried to run upstairs (so I didn't ruin my husband's meal) and projectile vomited all over the stairs. I'm pretty sure I could use some kind of therapy!

Well, she did read about it but not seeking attention with it. Quite the opposite. I'm the only one she talks about it with. And that's rarely.
