Why?

No body leaves home, WHO DOES TRASH COLLECTION for a week, OR TWO, OR THREE?????
Even with the talk of a shelter in place plan, there are always folks who are essential to the smooth running of things to work as possible. Water, electric and sewer will not go away. Nor will basic sanitation.

This sounds great at first blush and may still be necessary, but I do wonder if it will impact people's decision to stay at one of these hotels after it is done being a hospital though. That could have a pretty big impact even after this ends to those particular hotels used. I wonder how they'd be chosen.

People aren’t going to have a decision. These will be used to quarantine COVID patients who aren’t urgent care.

"I don't know" is a valid answer. But to say we shouldn't even think about the question is wrong IMO.
You quoted Hutt. I didn't see where that person or any other poster on your thread even insinuated we shouldn't even think about (your) questions as wrong????

I guess you’re fine with just culling all the old.
Hopefully, you don’t have elderly parents.

Is that what he said? Good god get a grip. What we are doing now is not going to prevent people from catching it. It is just going to slow down the progress so that health care providers have a better chance of keeping up with it. In the end (months from now) I expect that they will determine that 99.2% of those that were infected recovered from the infection. I am happy that we are all coming together to try to slow the spread right now. But let me be perfectly clear, we cannot shut down life for months for something that 99.2% of those infected will survive. It makes no sense at all.

You are not allowed to leave your house now in Spain except for work, pharmacy, buy food or emergencies.

So that's what we are in for? I won't even be able to go for a walk - by myself???

What the heck is happening.

It tanked because they wanted more. This is more....but that doesn’t mean stability, just short covering.

Futures just hit the limit down.

With Powell having used up all his artillery now, looks like we’ll be going for negative rates by next week.

I said it before, this is not an economic matter.

But, good thing I bought puts and leveraged inverse ETFs on Friday EOD to saddle my positions over the weekend.

Fed cut the rate to zero and started back QE.

Was just perusing my neighborhood's social networking site and saw this:

"If anyone in the neighborhood is needing help with anything right now or in the next few weeks as we all practice social distancing, please let me know. If you are uncomfortable going to the grocery store and need someone to run that or similar errands for you, I would be glad to help. Regardless of how bad this gets, people still need those most important errands, and some people feel a great deal of stress about needing to do that. If I can help, I would like to. My work has encouraged us to work from home, so I have flexibility most days. Feel free to email at _______ or text me at _________ if this could help you and your family. Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay positive!"

So so kind of this neighbor to offer that :flower3: In our neighborhood it's a mixture of families and those of retirement ages but both of those could need assistance.

That is lovely. My next-door neighborhood site also has a number of very kind offers like that for groceries, childcare, all kinds of things.
Unfortunately there is also a very negative contingent of the people who think we’re all overreacting and aren’t taking this seriously. It makes me even more glad that I’ve self-isolated

That does nothing to help anyone that needs it.

yeah, I mean I may refinance my house now but I’m not exactly the person with the government needs to be helping through this crisis. I wish there was more information about the support for medical plans and supplies. The situation in Seattle is getting dire.

I just posted this in another thread but it’s a very interesting point that I had never thought of until I saw the virologist expert on TV just now. The number of corona cases reported today is basically a snapshot of the past. He estimated a little over a week ago. It makes perfectly sense. right now testing is only being done on those showing symptoms, so in most cases one needs a few days to even show symptoms, then go to the doctor, and then get access to a test. Then you need a few days to get results at the moment. This process can take well over a week right now. In that time this person is most likely spreading the virus exponentially to others. As not many are putting themselves in a full Quarantine with the first cough or low fever without having a positive test. This process can take well over a week right now. In that time this person is most likely spreading the virus exponentially to others. As not many are putting themselves in a full quarantine with the first cough or low fever without having a positive test. Seeing how the virus grows exponential it’s scary to see how the numbers reported today are exponentially bigger today.

To be even more a bummer, keep in mind those that aren’t showing any symptoms and have not been tested spreading the disease, who in most cases are young adults and children

Here’s a viral post from one of my friend’s colleague.

I can’t emphasize enough to please listen to doctors and scientists. This is a science/medical matter. Not an economic or political matter.

Every ER doc I talk to is basically the same: “Buckle Up!”

CA just ordered every senior and people with any chronic condition to stay home and not go outside. Not an order enforced by force yet, but not a recommendation or suggestion any longer.

Also, all San Francisco hospitals have now banned ALL visitors—even family members—from visiting patients at all hospitals. ONLY exception is one registered partner for an expected mother.

I prefer we end up doing what South Korea did. But we are more and more looking like doing what China and Italy did, unfortunately, because some people just won’t buy-in.

Everything looks like overreaction before the event and under reaction afterwards.

You know what country's anticipated Covid 19 response is frightening me?

Venezuela.
The country is in economic free fall and probably no one but the well to do can afford to be tested much less buy meds to counteract it.
Or Africa.?? The Gates can only do so much
