April Check-In **Official**

Dh's conference finally sent notification yesterday that they are cancelling. Would love to visit in late July but who knows what the world will look like then. So sad that we won't be able to take advantage of the awesome conference rate for GCH. It was like $350/night. Plus the discounted park tickets. Our next trip will have to be shorter than this one was supposed to be (2 days vs 4 days.)

Still holding on to whatever glimmer of hope there is that we can go April 20-25. This is so hard!!! I hope they announce soon if the closure is longer. I figure we have to know something more within the next 11 days though. Even though I am preparing for a much longer closure, my heart will still break when they extend the closure.

I haven't cancelled yet either but my gut is telling me they won't open until May at the earliest. I'm still holding out a very small amount of hope that my trip mid month won't need to be cancelled but it's getting dimmer every day.

I refuse to cancel yet, even though I know I will have to soon. We have until the 1st to cancel our hotel, so I see no need to cancel now.

If the parks are open in April, we will be there on a Saturday, but we are locals, so we have a bit more flexibility. We were planning a trip to Disney World in May and honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think we are going to cancel that trip, as even if the parks are open by Mid may (which I actually think is very likely they will be), the parks will be operating in a massively reduced capacity, as such the trip wouldn't be near as enjoyable and I can't justify spending the money and time on flights and such when I have Disneyland in my back yard so to speak. Yes, we would enjoy the trip because it still is Disney, but it wouldn't be as enjoyable and we can get our Disney fix at Disneyland once it reopens.

But if we didn't live near Disneyland, it would be a lot harder decision, this is just out thought process at the moment.

Another good reason to cancel is Epcot is a mess right now. I was there in December and I'm looking foward to go back in a few years and spending more time in Epcot- alot was closed down when I was there. Give it a year or so and it will be so much nicer.

Well, I was waiting to cancel our April 9-11 trip (just in hope it may still happen although I was doubtful)...but just got an email from Castle Inn saying due to the “stay home” order they are closing the hotel until at least April 19th so they cancelled our reservation.😭 I wonder if other hotels are doing the same? I know it’s probably for the best but it’s still tough!

Just cancelled.

Things are getting straight up crazy. I think travel is off the books for at least a few months.

My heart goes out to anyone hit hard by the virus.

Let’s see, unemployed now until at least May 18th as I work in dental. 🥺 Disney trip cancelled. HS sports cancelled, kids out of school until at least April 27. Probably mandatory lockdown any day right now in WA...for now Governor gave stern warning to STAY HOME, living the quarantine life😩

Oh, that press conference yesterday very much felt like a mom counting to 3!

We officially cancelled our trip. Pretty bummed, but I'm sure the closure will be extended soon anyway.
I've updated the list with you, Satye, and gtpoohbear. But I agree that I don't think the parks are going to be open in April at all. Since it's all just speculation anyway, my guess is a phased reopening starting around Memorial Day, with Downtown Disney starting to open first, and then a slow reopening of attractions and dining in the parks. That said, we are rescheduled 8/3-8/8 and in my heart I think even those days are 50/50 at best.

Still hanging in (well, maybe not really) for our April 15 trip. Heart says please yes, head says expecting 8/2020 - 3/2021 as the re-opening window.

Well, this trip was mostly for Mickey and Minnies and to probably catch one or two final rides on Spaceship Earth before it goes down for refurb, but mostly Mickey and Minnies, so EPCOT was secondary. And we were also trying to get one last use out of our DVC APs.

As I have said before, the parks won't be closed that long, mid May perhaps, but the So Cal economy won't handle the parks being closed much longer than that, especially if the entertainment industry can't get back to full production by then as well. We are too dependent on tourism and entertainment.

Remember this isn't about stopping the spread of the Covid-19, it is about slowing the spread to a rate our medical system can keep up. It is also about taking time to increase the capacity of our medical system.

The reality is at some point, at least half of us will get or have had it, the question is how well will our health care system handle it?

But that is getting off topic, we are checking in for April here and IF the parks are open in April, I will be there, because I won't live my life in fear. Will I do what I can, such as washing my hands even more often? Of course, but will it stop me from living my life? No
