How is anybody able to find...

Just got back from WM. There was on the shelf:
Powdered sugar (oodles)
Yeast (both bread machine and active jars and instant 3 pack strips)
TP (WM brand, but still...about 50 packs, limit 1)
Paper towels (various brands, including Viva, the yellow Bounty and WM brand...about 100 packs, limit 1)
Tissues (about 100 boxes, limit one)
Dried beans (about 6 different kinds, probably 100 bags) and the canned beans were all stocked.
Bread (aisle was almost completely stocked!)

What wasn't stocked:
Dried pasta (maybe 20 boxes left)
Spaghetti sauce (about 30 bottles left)
Frozen Veggies (I managed one bag of frozen corn cobs and 2 bags of green beans. Other than it, it was all frozen brussel sprouts....which I have 15 bags of already...and frozen onion/pepper blend.)
Flour (maybe 3 bags of AP (WM brand), 2 or 3 bags of specialty (I didn't look to see what they were, but they were in the 'organic good for you at 5X the price' section)

I did score a bottle of Mr Clean or Lysol or something cleaner (IDK what kind and I'm too lazy to go look; it wasn't lavender scented, so I'm good), so I can do my floors, because everyone has been out of Swiffer mop bottles for 2 weeks. I just have to figure out how to open the Swiffer bottle without destroying it, so I can. LOL

Oh, and I found some Febreze that is Lilac and Violet! Two of my favorite scents together? Yes!

For anyone searching: Amazon has their brand TP, Lysol spray (2 pack), and hand sanitizer this morning! I was able to order all three and the order went through. We'll see if they arrive...

What is the brand of hand sanitizer you got. Everything I'm seeing on Amazon is prioritized for health care. Their own brand, Solimo, is the same. I see a few others that might be available but they seem to be a bit shady as to their efficacy.

I don't need TP,,there is no lysol spray available on amazon now, and there is hand sanitizer, but I am not paying the prices they are asking!

Just checked, no Lysol spray left. There is lysol bathroom foam 2 pack, but no spray. Some of the sanitizer looks shady.

I found a 4 pack of a brand we were buying before. (With cats in the house, we use hand sanitizer frequently!) It is local, made in CA, called Art Naturals. It is less harsh than Purell but still effective, so it doesn't hurt my skin. The availability comes in waves as the company is able to make more product. And it usually ships much faster than the estimated date. The organic sanitizers were available for longer than the well known name brands and the Amazon brands, but now it's hard to find anything. So I was really surprised to be able to buy this, especially since I recognized the product, and haven't seen it available in a while, and that the order went through.

The Lysol Spray has been like a UFO sighting -- it appears and disappears so quickly! I've had the best luck around 4:30-ish am PT. And when I go back to see if I can get some for a relative, it's gone! So I hope the order arrives so I can share one of the 2 cans.

Ah, I see that. My concern with them was that the alcohol content is lower than the 70% recommended. But, it's probably better than nothing.

I read that the minimum for effectiveness is 62%, and they meet that. The natural/organic brands were a better option for us before all this because we were using sanitizer daily (have a bottle in every room of the house -- thank you, kitties!). Other brands we use are Babyganics and Clean Well, but I think their products have been prioritized for health care workers now.

Thanks..just set a timer for myself..will try checking around that time! I have a full can here, but have a feeling I should grab some if I can spot the elusive UFO, lol! Going to be checking for disinfecting wipes at the same time. I appreciate the heads up!

Sometimes Amazon Pantry has the 3 packs of Clorox wipes (which I can never seem to nab!), but they also have their own brand (Solimo) of disinfecting wipes in a 3 pack. The Solimo wipes are a little thinner and smaller than the Clorox wipes, but work just fine. So whichever ones you see, hit that button!

Need 10x/powdered/confectioners' sugar and you don't feel like running out? Just run some regular white sugar through your food processor and bingo! You've got it.

Thanks..will add Solimo to my 'search for ' list!

I just found a 3 pack of Clorox disinfecting wipes on ebay..anyone have $144.95 to spare so I can buy them?? :rotfl:

The CDC recommends the use of hand sanitizer that have at least 60 % ethanol or 70% isopropanol.

I buy things on sale so I had wipes, paper towels and toilet paper. Since I was using cleaning items more than usual and we have no idea when this will be over I was having trouble judging if I could get by with them . My husband works at Lowes so he got me Clorox wipes and paper towels the last time they came in. So I feel better having them now. I have yet to see either of those items at the grocery store ( I go once every 2 weeks). I hear the Target by me gets paper products in. So maybe try those type of stores. An employee at my local grocery store said a lot of the cleaning supplies were being diverted to hospitals so they probably won't be getting those in. (I'm in NJ so we have a lot of cases as does NY so I don't know if this is the case all over)

I think this is the same issue many of us are dealing with right now: not wanting to hoard, but not having a really good idea of how much we need to hold us over until supplies start being stocked regularly again. How much is "enough" if I don't have an idea of when that particular item will be available in stores again at a normal price? And with official sources changing their minds about what we didn't need and now do need, but can't get, this game is getting more difficult all the time! As far as the sanitizer goes, since so many brands are not available to the general public right now (and may not be for a while), I'll take a brand that I already know and have used, especially since we're not using the sanitizer as a substitute for soap and hot water. Thank goodness there's no shortage of soap and hot water -- don't know what we will do when that happens!

I just purchased a carton of Sparkle paper towels to be shipped to my dad and his girlfriend. Thirty rolls for 32.99/free shipping. Never used this brand, just hoping they are decent quality. My confirmation says they will be delivered next day(NYC).
Edit to add- I forgot to say the paper towels are coming from Staples.com

Just in case anyone out there is wondering, here is the description for the ArtNaturals hand sanitizer that I bought:
  • CONTAINS 62.5% ETHYL ALCOHOL - KILLS GERMS: A must have for cold & flu season to stop the spread of illness causing germs.
  • SAFE FOR KIDS: Great bulk hand sanitizer pack for parents and teachers. Pure natural ingredients are gentle enough for children’s sensitive skin, while still killing germs. Great to use at home or in your classroom where cold germs lurk.
In our experience, it does the job without wrecking my hands. For those out there with sensitive skin, this product might be worth looking at.
