DVC ressie with no tickets

But sales for 2021 are going to be cash package only, I believe is what you wrote. I understand what is fair as well but DVC members have to pay Dues every year. The dues I pay for Boardwalk are more than a cash vacation for a family of three at a value to moderate resort. So I think I buy a cash package every year and should be able to at least have the option to buy a ticket same as everyone who is paying for a cash package.

I said that the info given is for cash but didn’t know about tickets. It has now been confirmed that DVC reservations will count to get tickets for 2021 on either the 24th or 28th of June....people have been told different things.

Things are changing fast! 2020...that is where things are rough because DVC and cash guests have to wait longer To get tickets.

I would. You have to understand that DVC owners are not the only onsite guests who need tickets for 2020 Many cash guests do to.

While owners certainly do believe they should get priority, from Disney’s side, cash guests are just as important.

From what has been shared on some of the other forums, this was a decision that was more of a business one and not necessarily one that would seem fair.

Tickets purchased get priority...new sales won’t happen until they know anyone who buys will know ahead of time what they will be getting.
As I stated earlier and will again, we are cash guests. We paid a huge up front fee and pay yearly dues. I am not saying that I or we are more important but we should certainly be equal to. When I booked my week in December we had to speak with guest services because of how little was available and they never told us that tickets weren’t going to be made available. Now 2021 tickets are up in the air for DVC? Just want to have the same options as a”cash” guest.

DVC contracts are explicit that they are a real estate holding in a resort only and do not promise access to theme parks. If the theme parks are closed permanently you still own DVC to contract terms.

So saying DVC is worthless if they have ticket and capacity constraints is opinion, not contract right.

I agree, may not be part of the contract, but how much is DVC worth on the resell market and even direct from Disney without park access, I would guess a lot less.

@Sandisw said that DVC reservations can get 2021 tickets when 2021 tickets open up for cash guests.

I was able to get through on a chat on the site. At first, I was told that there are no new tickets being sold, just packages. I nicely asked if she was certain (quoted "By June 28, all guests will be able to purchase new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make their park reservations for arrivals starting in 2021 as our phased reopening continues. Guests will be able to view park reservation availability on DisneyWorld.com prior to purchasing their tickets."), so she checked and verified that those in our situation (2021 DVC reservations on points) could buy tickets and reserve parks on the 28th.... I'm still probably going to call on the 24th though :)
This is so frustrating. I really regret not having bought our tickets right away when we booked. I never thought this would happen.

I would say yes for sure for days sooner rather then later, then you have all the cash resort reservations, just ticket holders with non disney hotels, and APs with only disney knowing how much capacity they can allow. Although im sure they easily have the data due to mining of MB movement and FPs, they can tell how the crowds work and how much they can handle. Although the 3 day AP limit for non resort stays should help. Although I would hate to be a cash guest not knowing when my resort would open (besides FW).

I admit I may be far off base but I think it's much ado about nothing at the moment. I do agree early days should see the most pressure as the people booked for then will be pretty certain of their trips and some locals AP's may book just because. 2021? I don't see it filling in quickly at all. We'll soon see!

So that effectively makes owning DVC useless for this year and possibly 2021 if they do not increase Park capacity. It feels like DVC is becoming and afterthought in that information is coming out for everyone but us. It would be nice if they made some kind of announcement that at least information was coming. I have reservations for home resort for my first ever Christmas season at WDW. I will never get this chance again until I retire. I understand the problem and the safety measures but tell us something, some kind of guidance for DVC members. I think we have earned it and deserve at least some heads up and info.
I agree with you!

That we will, although if capacity is anything like moonlight magic, then we will have a lot of upset people since MM is just DVC, this is for everyone.

Absolutely 100% correct. However the very first thing Umberto said to us 17 years ago was that buying in has to make sense. And the first question of the three was how often do we go to the parks. Like being told that point values would never change it has always been marketed as an offshoot of the parks. So yes it is my opinion because why would I pay dues every year for DVC if it wasn’t to have access to the parks.

just stated that since my original post that DVC reservations count for ticket purchases for 2021..the unknown is if it is the 24th or 28th because people Have been told different things.

But, you are not a cash guest anymore And sometimes will not be able to get what they do,

In this case, it seems to have been clarified from the initial confusion.

And that's where I don't think it'll be anything like Moonlight Magic. It and the prize dining reservations are setting the expectations that I think are too negative. However I've had the DL Flex pass for the past year. I get the initial stress but it was all for naught. It's certainly a lower limit than everyday capacity at DL/DCA but I suspect a lot of people that otherwise would have gone to Disney this year will not until there is a vaccine or until masks are not required.

I came across a article about why Disney stock was a good investment. Published before the virus but within the last 12 mo.

One of the reasons given was that Disney had managed to create a timeshare that people actually wanted to buy. Effectively a cash cow.

while I know that DVC contacts are written in a way that does not give DVC members any special privileges there is a valid reason why they might want to.
It’s not so much about current owners. Just like buying a car. Doesn’t matter how nice and shiny it is. If word gets out it’s a lemon no one wants it.

I agree that is a valid request and even expectation. I also suspect that DVC reservations will be able to get tickets on the 24th along with Cash guests. Just my guess though.

I hope you are right. Maybe I wouldn't be this stressed if this wasn't our first trip in forever

Which if was the case I who have been a Disney fan all my life wouldn’t be chirping. I very rarely get involved in posting but called Member Services and couldn’t get an answer as to when I would be able to purchase tickets for a December trip booked in February at my 11 month window. I just want to know what and when. If we are not going to be able to purchase I reluctantly and very sadly cancel and bank my points. I just want info availability to be the same for everyone and it hasn’t been. And this whole thing on cash customer vs DVC I agree to disagree. My dues are guaranteed cash every year. I am not asking for better treatment just equal treatment in the form of information.

Nicely said.
