Thank you! Turns out I was denied for too many new accounts (even though I'm 4/24; there was some CIPping involved so maybe that had an impact??). Funny thing is, the denial was dated the same day as my application so I could've spared myself all the tenterhooks lol.

Cell phone insurance question...

We usually buy 'new' phones on Amazon or ebay in $200 price range, but DD15 has specifically requested an S20 FE in lavender for Christmas. I can get it for $549 on Amazon or $700 direct through AT&T (no trade-in as I'll be taking her old one and my 5yo S5 isn't worth much ;) This is the first time we have thought insurance might be worth it. Does anyone know if the Carnival Barclaycard includes insurance? It looks like the Chase Ink Biz might be our best option among the cards we already have. I see that we would have to pay the monthly bill on the card plus a $100 deductible for a claim. Do we have to buy the phone on the card as well? Is it still covered if we buy from Amazon on a different card then just pay for monthly service on the Ink Biz card?

Anyone know of any other offers I should look for?

check samsung.com couple days ago, friend of mine was looking and it was $180 from $500(for a different phone). believe ebates gives u 15% back too. One trick ive learned from her is talk to samsung chat, and says something along the lines that im still on the fence and if there were other promo codes available. my friend got an additional $100 off that way.

Landry's Restaurants - If anyone has Landry's Birthday credit and don't want to go out to eat right now, I just noticed you can choose to Defer your birthday gift, and then Activate the points later.

For those who aren't familiar with Landry's Select Club, it's $25 to join and you get that $25 back on your first visit. But you only have around a month to make that first purchase, so don't sign up too early. Plus you get a $25 birthday reward (which a smart person would "pick" a birthday around the time they typically would use the benefit).

We use the Landry's Select Club mostly at Disney (but they have restaurants across the US): Yak n Yeti (our favorite), T Rex, and Rainforest (or Bubba Gumps at Universal Orlando).

The biggest benefit is getting pushed to the front of the line with no reservation ... just drop in.
Also, you collect rewards that can be redeemed toward future visits.

I have a link on DISchurners under MISC, but don't sign up unless you're going out to eat soon.

Thanks, my DH has it because we usually visit Disney during his birthday month and using it there too . But if we end up cancelling Our next trips it’s nice to know we can delay the birthday gift.

I have 2 questions...1)it suddenly occured to me that my amex gold card is so old that I don't think I ever got any bonus when I opened it. It's there a chance I can downgrade it and apply for a new one with a bonus? And is it a good idea to get rid of my oldest card? And 2) how long after a denial can DD reapply for a Chase Freedom?

My DH was denied a couple of weeks ago too. They didn’t like his business structure (sole prop) or his credit score (840)!:badpc:

If doesn't matter if you got a bonus on it since the Amex language is have or have had the card. An Amex "lifetime" is supposedly 7 years (possibly slightly less). But I think you'd have to close or PC it first and then wait.

The only downgrade option would be a Green. A PC would also lock you out of the bonus (if you haven't had the card before), so you'd want to apply for a new one first.

I did the same thing when DH applied a couple of months ago. How many biz cards do you have open?
DH was denied, reason was business structure. I applied and was approved. We have very similar credit reports, except he has 3 Chase biz cards open and I only had 2.

New INCREASED Southwest Personal Card Offers - Earn up to 80,000 SW points!

I was perusing the Chase website earlier tonight as I often do and I noticed on this page here that all three of the Chase Personal cards were showing this new offer:
  • Earn 50,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Plus, earn an additional 30,000 bonus points after you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 9 months from account opening.
The 50k / $2k is always a nice offer when it rolls around. The additional 30k requiring a $10k total MSR is quite hefty compared to what's been done in the past. For comparison, we've recently seen a 65k/$2k offer as well as a tiered 75k offer that required $5k MSR (in 6 months). At least they're giving you 9 months to hit the MSR.

It is worth noting that I cannot find this available via any support links yet, hopefully that will change or update soon though! This is shown as a limited time offer BUT I do not see an expiration date listed there currently.

Boooo. Yeah, I used SP too, but the reason given to me was due to "too many new accounts." Technically I fell to 4/24 just two days before applying; maybe I was too hasty. Your DH was told explicitly that it was due to it being a SP?

Did you apply as SP? I have three biz Chase cards currently. I could get rid of my 2nd CIC and it wouldn't really make a difference in my world, so I will consider that. Thanks for sharing your DP.

Went to add this to DISchurners and noticed that our friend @ibob52 had also stumbled on this and already shared it there so gotta give some kudos to him!!

Big Hyatt news, at least I think so. Only 30 nights for Globalist for 2021. I’ll have 20 with the bonus journeys promo so it shouldn’t be hard to get to 30.
This is great! I am Globalist this year and with the free breakfast, we have saved so much money. This Australia is moved to 2022, being Globalist at the Park Hyatt would be great. I’ll have 20 to start so 10 more shouldn’t be hard.

Back from WDW! I booked 6 nights at POR for 5 of us over a year ago, for thanksgiving week, with AA miles. Recap: When I found out that POR was not opening, I called disney twice to see what would happen but they couldn't/wouldn't do anything because I booked through AA. I knew contacting AA was going to be useless, and it was. They could only refund the points, but there were no more disney hotels to book through their site. So I put it off so I could think about it. Considered going to universal instead. Emailed disney guest services just to see and they transferred it to their "wholesale" dept. They were great and upgraded us to SSR, 2 bed villa.

It was fabulous! It was not a refurbed room, and it was still fabulous. Loved the resort. Now I wish I booked longer because we needed a few extra days. :D Having a kitchen and laundry is a game changer.

Parks were great too, definitely a different trip than usual, but not unexpected. Parks were at their pandemic capacity (tried to change a park reservation and couldn't). Long waits without fastpasses (also expected). I read other accounts that posted wait times were less for a lot of people. Not true for the holiday week, they were pretty spot on. And popular rides were around 80-90 mins. It was nice to see some queues that I've never seen before because they were on rides that I always had a fastpass for. :rotfl:But pandemic capacity was noticeably lower than a normal holiday week. For example, after getting food and drinks around EPCOT, we were always able to actually find a seat. :D The COVID precautions were good. Though it made the lines reeeeeeeeeeally long. Finding the ends of some of them were challenging. I'm looking at you, Flights of Passage. Felt pretty safe though, with the mask mandate, 6ft markings in lines, reduced capacity of park, rides and restaurants. Only thing I would skip is Disney Springs at night. While the stores were limiting people, it was still very crowded walking around (at night, daytime was fine) and hard to avoid people.

Buses not too bad. It was nice not having people squished in on top of you. Had a short wait most of the time. One was 30mins and it was a little frustrating to try to leave AK and have 4 contemporary buses pull in right aside of you while waiting for SSR. First world problems...
Anyway, we are all spoiled now and it will be hard to go back to one room for the 5 of us. :cool1:

Today is our fly home day.

I give Disney credit for trying and I'm so thankful they are open. I don't have any prior Thanksgiving week travel to compare to, but I was not entirely pleased this trip. We've been in here September and July of this year. I knew going in that this week would be different from those two trips and I did mentally prepare myself. I did feel crowds were lighter than some blogs proposed which was nice. However, there were just way too many people completely ignoring the spacing strips. I would love to see Disney bring back some CMs stationed in some lines to guide/enforce that. When you have the people behind you breathing down your neck there's not a whole lot you can do about it while in line. Several of the sanitizer machines were empty this trip. I bring my own, but my crew tends to grab what's provided on the way out of a ride, We found wait times either pretty exact or a bit less than posted. Even though the line looks long (Haunted Mansion!), the wait times are, for the most part, accurate.

Today we say good-bye to the popular, much loved, Polynesian Tokelau 3914. This room has the best balcony. It's classified as standard view, but being on the end, has a nice castle view. Poly was very empty with the hotel side closed. I can't wait to see the new entrance.

It's quite cold in WDW today, I'm glad we had some nice warm weather for part of our trip.

Yes, SP (used retail biz) I used the exact same info for both applications on the same day. He keeps getting denied and the only reason for denial is business structure, so my guess is that is has to do with the number of open biz cards.
