I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Does the 24 month rule apply to both personal and business SW cards? My card in 2021 was a personal card. Can I get the business card now before my 24 months are up?

The 24 month rule applies to the personal SW cards as a group. It only applies to the business cards individually. Since you haven't had the biz cards before, you could get one now and the other 30 days from now (due to soft 1/30 rule). But that depends on if you've gotten other Chase cards recently. You'd also want to take a break from Chase if you did this so that you're still averaging out to about 1 card every 3 months.

Is 1/6 you're both referring to inquiries or new accounts?

Tempting offer but I wonder if it's like the Premier where you need 0/6 inquiries for best chances.
This was a new personal account. DH was approved for the Aviator Red in March. However, the stated reason for denial was too many recent credit inquiries. He has 8 on Experian (Inks over the past 2 years) and too much available credit. His credit utilization was at 2%.

Thanks for the information. My last Chase card was a CIU on 03/08/23. I can wait until June just to be safe to get the business card. That way I can start on the MSR while I wait to hit 24 months from my last bonus on the personal card.

You can apply for a business card now since you haven’t received a sign up bonus on those….you can actually get both SW business cards…just space them out at least 30 days, recommended Chase pacing is 3 months between applications

Yes that correct if you complete both spends after the December statement posts everything should post in 2024…since you Have a P2…if you wanted to get to cards and the Sign up bonus in 2023 and have the CP for all of 2024…you could do that and then at then end of 2024 have P2 go for the CP with 2 cards for 2024 and 2025
WHy? Wouldn't this be a 'waste' of time,if they didn't want to use CP till Feb '24? I'd say it's simple enough to app in November, hit everything but 1k of spend, wait till end of Dec/Jan 1, finish the MSR immediately. I've done this numerous times and never had a problem booking after that.... and it would be 2 full years

For those of you who have used the CSP $50 benefit when booking thru the Chase portal: Did I do this right?

Booked hotel through the Chase portal when logged into CSP account. Paid in full with CSP but found it weird that I had to enter my CSP cc info. Terms say $50 credit will post within 2 days of charge posting, but it's been 4. Not in a hurry but just not sure if I missed a step?

This CSP credit posted in the wee hours, so after 4 days after charge posting, 6 days after actually making the purchase. Maybe a helpful DP for those want to use the credit before PCing the card.

Quick question: Do you need your passport in hand for a global entry interview? I’m out of town and found an appt at a nearby airport (MSY) for this afternoon, but I didn’t bring my passport with me (the idea to check for interviews just hit me).

Got an interesting spam call last night. The caller ID said Capital One. I answered because I'm currently having an issue with them (not credit card related). They guy (with a very heavy accent-not the that means anything) says he's from "card services" and based on my Experian credit report, I'm eligible to reduce my credit card interest rate. 🙃

I hung up because: 1) I don't have a CapOne card; 2) my credit reports are frozen; 3) Credit card companies just don't call out of the blue and offer to lower your interest rate (particularly in a rising rate environment with increased delinquencies); and 4) my interest rates are immaterial to me because I never carry a balance.

So looks like a new (to me) fishing scam...

I can see being nervous about the timing on this one, especially if you haven't played the year end/ new year game with SW before. Also, if they wanted to not only use the CP in February but also have points for the paid ticket, they may want the first bonus in the account sooner, in time for the February fare release...

Companies can still do a soft pull even if your report is frozen. It doesn't affect anything but they can still get that info. I know it doesn't affect this situation at all but it's used for preapprovals and stuff.

Yay, Chase savings $200 and extra $400 for both checking & saving posted today. My 90 day date was April 16. Time to get that money into something that earns decent interest!
Thanks for posting this. I'm assuming that 90 days is from when the $15,000 was deposited and not when the account was opened? I opened the account January 30 and the deposit posted on February 7. The $200 for a new savings account already posted (April 25) but not the extra $400.

ETA: the extra $400 posted to the checking account. Not sure why I assumed it would past to the savings account.

If you have a CSP/CSR/CIP to transfer points to SW, you could use those CIU points to book the to-be CP holder's Feb SW flights whenever the schedule drops. And still time the SW card apps for later this year so that person has the CP by early 2024. Just make sure the primary cardholder on the CSP/CSR/CIP is the same person going for the CP.

Another option: you previously mentioned getting a personal Plat to pay for tuition, so you can select SW as the airline and buy <100 fares to get the airline credit. You could end up with $400 of SW travel funds by early 2024 ($200 from 2023, $200 from 2024).

@afan Are you staying at the Tokyo Station Hotel when you visit Japan? If so, do you recall when they release rooms on points? I am trying to book a stay in January, 2024 but no rooms have been showing for the last several days (I think I probably missed the booking window).

The AMEX option could work and I never though of that. Also DW has around $130 left for SW on her plat so I could use that as well. Is it pretty consistent that fares <$100 trigger the credit? I have a bunch of UR points but I was trying to build those up for a trip to London/Europe. I suppose I could still have time to get another Ink or two next year if needed. I'll check the prices when the schedule gets pushed out to mid February and see how I want to handle it. Thank you so much for the additional options.

ETA: Would I have issues with Chase if I swapped each year PCing my Freedom or Freedom Flex to a CSR? The reason I would do it would be to get the travel credit twice while paying the AF once. I just got my Freedom back a month or two ago so I was going to PC the Freedom Flex pretty soon.
