It looks like there’s no where for the chair at the end of the kitchen table to back away from the table because it is literally sitting with its back to the sofa arm.

I think that the whole table/chairs setup looks cramped.

The same setup is at SSR, and it is cramped - you really have to pull the chairs around to the side of the table to sit there, and you end up blocking the pathway from the villa entrance to the couch. Not at all ideal, very much constrained by limited space, but at least seats more people.

I’ve commented on the new rooms in the main BWV thread, but I just now noticed the separate chair and end table are missing from the living room. I’m sad about that, but based on experience with the sofas at SSR, we’ll be able to sit and read on the couch without sliding onto the floor!

I think I'd prefer the new setup...yes, we lose a LR chair...but gained at least 2 seats at the kitchen table (albeit cramped).

Yes, I do too. I think 3 kids could probably fit on that bench. Plus the 2 chairs, so seating for 5 (or maybe just 4 adults).

I wish they used smaller chairs at the kitchen table though, those look comfy, but bulky in that space

It's the same complaints in each remodel. So annoying.

I'm begun wondering if DVC can count. They aren't providing enough seats for the room occupancy although that has been an issue forever. I had at least hoped for a murphy bed like SSR with the extra ottoman for the sofa. It did at least provide something in place of the chair removal.

Maybe that's a room by room difference at SSR? We've stayed in two different 2 bedrooms and using the dining chair on the end was not a problem. Same at VWL. This BWV room looks like it's impossible.

Maybe - it was just two of us, and we didn’t use the chair by the couch, just the one on the other end. The chairs might be different, too.

Compared to recent refurbs at BRV and SSR, there's a clear lack of space. My only guess are either 1) The chairs are meant to sit across from the bench seating, or 2) this lack of space is unique to this unit.

I know this has been discussed a bit today, but I included some screenshots of the other refurbished dining areas at the aforementioned resorts, in case anyone is interested.

They are all the same I believe.

According to what I could find on the interwebs, the 1-bed villas square footages are:
BWV 712
SSR 714
BRV 727

It actually looks like SSR and BRV have larger Murphy beds from what I can tell (which is pretty limited at this time). But you might be right in that the layout (a la room dimensions) are subtly different between units. Tough for me to discern.

To clarify, the wall-portion of the Murphy Bed unit looks larger in SSR & BRV. The couch (sans ottoman) looks identical in size.

I also wish they'd put in the sleeper chair, bummer. we've never had 5 except once, but would still be a nice option, but we know we can always bring the extra bedding.
DH is sad to lose the long shelf in the bathroom, but at least there is under the sink storage.

I didn't originally notice the missing shelf. I too will miss that shelf; it was a great place to place things needed after a shower. Again, the people in charge of this redesign didn't check with the people who actually stay in these units. Oh well, overall, the redesign is pretty nice.

LOL, I love this! I know just what you mean, the old sofas were very uncomfortable with the cushions sliding out all the time. I do hope the new sofas are better.

Again, the people in charge of this redesign didn't check with the people who actually stay in these units.

I’ve said before that I think the designers should have to live in an identical room, with other adults and kids bringing it to full capacity, for a full week before the design is approved. Let them figure out where to hang four bath towels to dry for reuse, how to enjoy a meal together (for that they should be required to test a 2BR that’s at capacity of 9 people), etc. (And also let the men try to shave their faces and the ladies try to apply makeup using the light from the gorgeous but totally impractical sconces over the primary bathroom sink in the BLT 1BR, January 2010!)

I see what you mean. To me, it looks like the BWV couch has an extra seat cushion that’s not covered by the bed when it comes down. It’s in front of the open shelf. The SSR and BCV Murphys have a little table in front of the open shelf.

Looking back in my memory, the Murphy in the first refurbed SSR 1BR we stayed in had a chaise at one end of the couch. It was in front of the open shelf part of the cabinet, where the BWV extra cushion is.

I’m hoping to see more photos of that dining area and its relationship to the couch.
