Mass shooting in Toronto?

My brother lives in Toronto and this just makes me worry more.

I hate HATE HATE that this is getting more frequent. Our country isn’t perfect but it’s nice to live somewhere where I don’t have to worry about going to a movie, or a concert, or the store.

I will keep the rest of my opinions to myself for as long as I can.

I haven't seen any reports of any deaths (other than the shooter). Reporting so far is 9 injuries plus the shooter dead (might be self-inflicted?).

OK - found another one where the police confirmed fatalities but didn't say how many.

I have no idea, but I don’t see that. But the article has been updated, so they could have removed previous content.
 


I live in Toronto and yes, the gun violence is crazy. Of course, still quite limited to certain areas and still quite tame compared to most big American cities I think.
 
The gun violence in Toronto this summer has not been limited to any bad areas.
Broad daylight early evening gang shooting on downtown Queen Street West in front of shoppers that left two dead and one injured.
14 people shot last night in Greektown neighbourhood which is a beautiful family neighbourhood with lots of dining and shopping.
Yorkville nighttime shooting (upscale downtown shopping and restaurant area)
Kensington Market nighttime shooting, another shopping and eating area downtown.
Scarborough gang related shooting with two innocent children playing in a playground caught in the crossfire and shot in the afternoon.

These are just some of the shootings this summer so far.
 
First let me say that I'm very sorry for those that lost their lives (except the shooter).

But, according to a few posters here this sort of thing NEVER happens in Canada. This goes to show it happens EVERYWHERE. Sad that the world has gotten so bad it does happen though. :(

Who here has said this has NEVER happening in Canada? What happened in Toronto last night -random people being targeted - is very rare occurrence, in fact I don't think a shooting like this happened in Toronto before. Most of the gun violence has been gang related.

Of course there was the man in the truck mowing down innocent people on a sidewalk a few months ago.

I’m travelling and haven’t kept up with the news. Is it confirmed to be a random mass shooting? That would be greatly alarming - gang violence with innocents caught in the crossfire was my immediate assumption.

ETA: Anna, are you Canadian?!? I did not know that. Hey homegirl! :wave2:

Not much has been confirmed.

A current search of Google News has most articles saying 2 were killed and anywhere from 12-14 more were wounded.

I found one article that said 3 were killed, with statements from the Mayor and the PM.
