DHS morning
Friday, June 26th, was our Disney Hollywood Studios day. But it was also our third park-day in a row, and we were starting to feel it. But this was Disney baby, so you know what you do – you power through it!
Judy and I got around while the kids were still catching some last z’s. I decided to go get some coffee at the Boardwalk Bakery and get some early-morning resort pictures in the process. My first stop though, was at the Front Desk to get a printout of what we’d charged to the room so far. (I sure hoped the room could pay for it!) Andy was working at the Front Desk again, the same guy who had checked us in when we first arrived. I still can’t get over how much he reminded me of Drew Carey, it’s incredible. Anyway, the charges to the room were about what I expected, so I continued on.
I took a picture of this Lady and the Tramp topiary, and either the camera was having a little trouble adjusting to the outside humidity or it was feeling as foggy this morning as my brain was, pre-coffee on our third straight park-day.
Here’s a shot of the Boardwalk Bakery, with the camera still a little foggy.
Coffee obtained and brain clearing, I walked a little ways towards the entrance to Epcot to get a picture of the Boardwalk. It was very apparent that the Disney cast members had shined Crescent Lake to a mirror finish overnight.
And the Beach Club across the lake.
The Boardwalk was very quiet. Just me and some joggers.
Next, I stopped at the pool.
I had to get a daylight picture of the clown slide, to try to determine if it was only nighttime that made it look so creepy.
Nope, doesn’t matter. Day or night, still creepy. Although I think that at nighttime it’s really in its element.
I came back to the room and everyone was ready to head to the Studios. We decided to try the walking path, so hung a left out of our suite (heading away from the lobby), walked to the end of the building, took the stairwell down, and exited near the quiet pool. The path was right there, and we hung a left toward DHS.
The kids took a little faster pace, until they were distracted by some ducks.
There were some Frozen topiaries outside of the DHS entrance.
We arrived right at park opening, and it was a little crowded at the tapstiles.
It takes a bit of getting used to traveling with older children. We all split up to get through the tapstiles faster, but then had to regroup on the other side.
Here’s the crowd heading down Hollywood Boulevard at park opening. But was everyone headed to the same ride as we were?
We hung a right onto Sunset, and the crowed thinned a little bit. Yes! You folks all head to Toy Story! I’ll see you later, when I’m passing you with my fastpass! Ha!
But unfortunately, we didn’t have to walk as far as I’d hoped, to reach the end of the line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Yikes!
But the good news was that they hadn’t opened the ride yet, so no one was in the actual queue area. This was the whole line and it moved fairly quickly.
I love the parking garage theming once you’re inside, about to get on the ride. All that’s missing is the smell of urine, and I’m okay with that.
I don’t know that I ever noticed this “LA Downunder Club” entrance before.
These people are about to go for a ride.

And then it was our turn – bring it, Aerosmith!
Here’s the ride photo of James, some random guy, Judy, me, and Admiral Ackbar (gently trapped under the ride harness).
And Lauren and Marlene.
While we were on the ride, I could hear Marlene going, “Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.”. I found out after we got off that it was due to a hand cramp. I don’t even know what to say about that.
In the gift shop I bought a Steamboat Willie t-shirt. (You know Steamboat Willie...the old blues guy, known for whistling, who influenced the early rock ‘n rollers.) Anyway, the cast member at the cash register saw the DVC slider on my MagicBand and gave me the DVC discount without me even saying anything. Sweet!
At the check-out counter these guitar picks were arranged in a very curious pattern.
