Fabulous Fifty Fall Fun: An October/November 2020 PanTR (Pandemic Trip Report) [COMPLETE]

Ok live update #2...Day 2.

Having chosen to take the day at leisure, we all slept in until around 7am...maybe later? This was put together by my daughter and I before we went to bed:
535709

I checked the MCO airport (wow it's amazing how few flights there really are right now) for the incoming flight of our friends and it was going to be in around 8:50am (it was due after 9am). I figured I'd just head out and be at the cell lot to get them when they arrived. We decided to utiize Disney's luggage transfer for the very first time EVER so we dropped off our bags at the front, DD and I hit the road for the airport and the boys went to grab some breakfast at Riviera.

Airport was easy enough to navigate and after only one circle we had success getting our friends and we were on our way to Animal Kingdom to meet the boys.

We arrived at AK around 10:30am and met the boys and decided to head straight to FoP. It was showing a 50 minute wait, but the line moved very well of course, a few people who couldn't understand the line thing or the party in front of us with ladies who had to take off their masks to talk to each other...sigh. We waited about 45 for FoP and after that we needed some food...those of us who didn't eat breakfast and who had a 7am flight. We grabbed some food at Satuli which was great as always...probably my favorite of all the parks.

535710
535711

Next up was EE...about a 20 minute wait for that. Then we decided to do the Safari (a walk on) and then walk the Gorilla Trail before catching the train to Rafiki's...our friends had never done this and my kids haven't seen it in a long time...but I had one goal...this:

535713

I am so glad @CruellaNY told me about this. My kids weren't thrilled:
535714

I was so glad to do this...I missed it so when it was at HS. So at the beginning the animator shows a clip of the new baby gorilla there (Grace) who we had just seen on the Gorilla Trail and how we'd draw something inspired by her...Turk from Tarzan.

God bless my FIL and his terrible..TERRIBLE hearing. We are just about done drawing and he says "hey this looks a lot like that monkey from Tarzan". I could barely contain the laughter...and really didn't. Oh my gosh. He needs to get him some hearing aids...he promises us he will...but oh my gosh.

Having completed this it was now close to 4:30pm and we had to wait a bit for a return train due to social distancing. We decided to head directly to our 5:40pm dinner at Tiffins (instead of our original plan which was a bar at the park) and they were kind enough to add 1 to our party of 6...and off we went for a fabulous birthday dinner for DH.

We finished around 7pm, on a 6pm park close, and were pretty much the only non cast members in the park. It was so cool walking out to an empty park and parking lot...sad that the tree of life is not lit up at all at night though...well regular lights only.

Back at our room, we called up for our luggage, got ourselves settled in, and then DH and I decided we needed one quick stop at Geyser Point for a drink. I also got a side of fries and he got the BBQ brisket with chips...he said it was okay. Drinks done, back to the room to shower and get ready for bed. Tonight as an added bonus we get an extra hour of sleep (during Disney how magical!) and tomorrow we will hit the Studios. You know we have one goal there...wish us luck!

535715

So quick report for now...as we await our delivery from Earl of Sandwich. Late dinner...after a good day except for the Ravens game. Chilling in our villa...and a bit wet.

We spent about 3 hours at Hollywood Studios this morning...arrived around 9:30am and left around noon. This included rides on MFSR, a BG13 for RoTR so on that early and then some food and drink at Baseline Taphouse. Back to our room to watch football and wings and other evil fried food from Hooters that I picked up.

536104

536101

536102

Left room around 4:30pm and back to Studios. Rode ToT, RnRC, TSM and Slinky before skies opened up and we walked out at 7pm closing time.

Good day overall.

So I will just say this...my first Uber Eats experience was not great. My kids wanted Earl of Sandwich but we had no desire to trod to DS so EofS website had delivery via Uber Eats. Ugh. Our food was expected at 8:25am ( about 45 minutes after ordering) and we got it after 9pm...as I stalked the loading zone of our resort for it.

It was good food at least.

Today we have decided to stick with EPCOT. 11am opening and kids first clases end around 9:30am so we will wait and head over after. I snagged Beaches and Cream ADR for 4pm ish for a party of 6 and hope they can squeeze in a 7th. They had no problem with this at Tiffins Saturday.

I am not seeing a ton of F&W food i need that I didn't try in August. Goals today are Soarin and TT and beyond that not much. Weather should be better today as yesterday was very humid due to storms coming.

My apologies for the lack of updates yesterday. Seems somebody cannot handle the two mojitos from The Wave and chose to crash quite early...well it was a late dinner.

So here I sit....536627

We all know how this goes...I call this one I am NOT cut out for non TSA Pre check. I took one for the team since my now adult daughter was the only one in our travel party who didnt get precheck even though she was part of our flight reservation.

We had two fabulous days at the Magic Kingdom. Weather was fantastic. Lines were reasonable. Dinner at the Wave last night was very good and lunch at Tony's today also good.

536629

536630

536631

We learned about the virtual wait list for restaurants last night and had a very very very strict guard at the Contemporary as we tried to go to a late dinner. We could not have asked for a better trip overall and it will totally stuck to return to work tomorrow.

I am NOT cut out for non TSA Pre check. I took one for the team since my now adult daughter was the only one in our travel party who didnt get precheck even though she was part of our flight reservation.
Ha! Steve and I have pre-check and so Chris will automatically have it but since Ricky is 18 he won't. No chance for him to apply before our trip this month (I didn't think about it until he'd left for college) so one of us will end up going through the regular TSA line with him and NOT being happy about it!

Ha! Steve and I have pre-check and so Chris will automatically have it but since Ricky is 18 he won't. No chance for him to apply before our trip this month (I didn't think about it until he'd left for college) so one of us will end up going through the regular TSA line with him and NOT being happy about it!

I never realized how spoiled I was...and how far behind MCO is in their implementation. Leaving my home airport, since I had TSAPre, I was handed a card so I could still go through regular security with my daughter. I ended up taking my tablet out of my bag...then they told me I didn't even have to do that. I will say the TSA agent at our airport was a bit snippy with my daughter, and I almost lashed back at her that she didn't need to be so rude (there was NO line anyway behind us...and she was just barking orders at my daughter and then being rude when she was just trying to comply). At least the MCO Agents were nice...and patient...and even though I pointed out to them I was STILL Pre-Check I had to remove my shoes, take out my tablet (never did remove my liquids), totally forgot about a bottle of water in my backpack (my bad...it was quickly remedied and they were nice about it) and then I had to stand in the scanner and I was wearing a t-shirt that is DESIGNED to have a knot tied in it...the fabric is actually cut that way...it was a small side knot that he wanted me to actually UNDO before going through the scanner...what the???? I tried...but I couldn't so it said it was fine and then they had to check me out afterwards. Seriously? Again...usually you can go through regular security as a pre-check and NOT have to abide by regular rules...they didn't seem to get this at all at MCO. At least there was no line behind me there either...it was a 7:45pm flight!

I think next time she'll just have to go it alone! :)

So we are back...as you may have guessed...and while I had a few pretty detailed updates I will take you through it day by day a little more, as much as I can remember, with all of my changes...and as I'm sure nobody will be surprised about...there were plenty!

Here was the plan:

  • FRIDAY: Afternoon flight. Head to Riviera Resort. Check in and explore area. Skyliner over to EPCOT where we have dinner planned at La Hacienda.
  • SATURDAY: Animal Kingdom. Not sure if we'll try to arrive at opening ourselves or just wander over later. We will wait until our friends arrive, flight lands around 9:30am, to all do FOP together where we know we are in for a wait. Our only goals here are FoP, EE and maybe Dinosaur. I would like to also do the safari and catch the train over to Rafiki's. I have a lunch at Rainforest Cafe at AK just in case I want to leave the family there and drive out to get my friends. I've decided on Tiffins for birthday dinner, which is at 5:30pm so we don't even need to leave the park. It closes at 6pm so we have about 5.5 hours to hit the things we want to at the park.
  • SUNDAY: Hollywood Studios. ADRs at City Works (lunchtime) and Mama Melrose (early dinner). Plan here is to arrive early, hit MMRR first, then MFSR and try for a RoTR boarding pass. Beyond 10am, with no boarding pass for RoTR we would leave and go back to the resort for a while. We would then return close to 1:30pm to try again at 2pm if necessary, or time our return based on any boarding pass if we are lucky. I'm also considering taking a break from this park by hopping on the Skyliner to head over to maybe Beaches and Cream for dessert or, now that @Jenny Sanders has provided an awesome review, maybe checking out Abracadabar.
  • MONDAY: EPCOT. This is the day the kids will be doing school off and on and they aren't thrilled with EPCOT anyway (well at least DD) so it seeems like a good plan. While I would prefer to do MK, with our friends leaving on Tuesday it makes sense for us to be able to fully do EPCOT Monday and have them do MK on Tuesday to get more time there. I do have a lunch at Spice Road Table if we want a sit down break, and also early dinner at the Plaza in case we do change our minds. Perhaps a 10am arrival at EPCOT on Tuesday, and leaving for the airport around 4pm for them would be enough if I drive them there? It's a thought.
  • TUESDAY: Magic Kingdom day. Our friends have a 6pm flight and we have dinner for the 5 of us at Narcoossee's.
  • WEDNESDAY: Magic Kingdom. Our last park day. ADRs at Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast and Tony's for dinner.
Our park days didn't change fromt he above and it all worked out well. We cancelled a few ADRs and added a few more and discovered how to join a walk-up last for Disney restaurants. I even managed to modify an ADR to an earlier time by walking up to the podium. As I think I mentioned, our weather for the most part was BEAUTIFUL. We had one hot day, which was Sunday at HS, where it was warm and humid and we got some rain around 6pm or so which made our ride on SDD extra extra fun. ;) Many of our park days were somewhat short, we weren't focused on doing it all, except maybe on Tuesday which was our MK day and our friends last day there. We did get them on a few new-to-them experiences though, which was our goal for that day. Our final day we just hit up some MK stuff we didn't do the day before, had lunch at the park, and then headed back to the WL Resort to relax for a bit before heading out to the airport.

Restaurants I'll be reviewing...as part of this TR and maybe with some food porn, will be:

La Hacienda
Satuli
Tiffins
Earl of Sandwich
Tony's Town Square
Pinocchio Village Haus
The Wave
Grand Floridian Cafe

There were some random food and drinks along the way, including during EPCOT food and wine, and the one big disappointment for me was: POPCORN. We got some one day at MK I believe, and it was SOO disappointing. Maybe it was just an off day (we got it pretty early) but it wasn't fresh or really even worth it, my daughter agreed, so I was afraid to try it again. She did get the one thing she was pining for the whole trip...a churro...and she claimed that was outstanding. She also had a Mickey waffle at GFC which she enjoyed...I didn't try it so I can't speak for if it was good as I've never been a huge Mickey waffle person anyway.

Anyway not sure I'll get to another update today, I still have tons of unpacking to do and some tennis today, but hopefully soon I'll do a full day 1 review and then some!

Ok here we go...

DAY 1: Most of our first day is captured pretty well here: LIVE REPORT 1 and we pretty much stuck to the plan:

  • FRIDAY: Afternoon flight. Head to Riviera Resort. Check in and explore area. Skyliner over to EPCOT where we have dinner planned at La Hacienda.
I'll only mention a few other things about this day. So a day or so before our flight I got an email from Spirit telling me my flight was pretty full and asking if I wanted to change it...for free...and earn some travel vouchers. Now I'll just say flights to MCO on Spirit from our home airport are super super cheap...and I already have some credit with them...and I had already changed from Saturday morning to Friday afternoon. That being said, we arrived to a very empty airport, I went through the non TSA Pre-Check line with my daughter as she was the only one on our reservation who didn't get TSA Pre-check (DH and I both have a TTN) and that went okay...and it's not like there was any real lines in the regular line anyway.

So the flight was uneventful and we landed on time, maybe even early despite it being totally full...maybe 3 or 4 seats open. We headed right to the rental car place...but we ended up in terminal B and heading to that side...which for those who don't know is actually CLOSED right now. So when we got outside and realized we couldn't just walk to the garage, the nice airport person redirected us to the other side, terminal A, to get our vehicle. It wasn't a long walk at least.

Now I'm a Dollar Express member, so usually my name is on the front of the booth and I just go to my slot and get in the car and go, but after our long walk I was still getting oriented. The woman at Dollar approached me as I was standing there, and asked me if I had a contract (which I didn't...since it was in the vehicle) but when I said no she started telling me how I could go downstairs, to the Dollar rental counter, blah-blah and so I basically CUT her off...because I knew that was NOT what I needed to do. I guess I may have been a bit short in cutting her off (and somehow everybody felt I was a bit snippy with her) and she told me to calm down...I wasn't even upset or yelling just didn't have time to listen to her spiel as I knew I was where I needed to be already. THEN she asked if I was Dollar Express at the same time I noticed the board out front (often times it doesn't work) and I said yes, found my name, and found the spot to go to my car before she did and then she pointed us in the right direction. Jeesh!

We headed out to our resort, which was actually NOT ready for us quite yet. We still parked and walked into the lobby...what a beautiful place and it smells so nice everywhere. It was now probably around 4pm and we were hungry. We started talking about grabbing something at the hotel (I really wanted to try the food there) but then realized we had a 5pm dinner reservation at La Hacienda and with travel time...we would probably only be strolling up a little bit early, so we headed there. We ended up getting on the Skyliner (first time for the rest of our party) in the wrong direction...so we rode it to the main hub and then back to our resort to get on the correct way. We arrived at EPCOT and walked right to La Hacienda and were seated right away.

LA HACIENDA REVIEW: We really loved this place, can't say enough about it. We started off with the chips and salsa and we ordered the guacamole as well...all fantastic.

536885

536886

I began with the Neil Patrick Harris special drink I had been looking forward to trying, the Black Magic Margarita...so good. DH got a flight of Tequila...which he enjoyed.

We ALL ordered the shrimp tacos here. 4 of us got them fried, my daugther got hers grilled without the cabbage slaw I think. OH MY GOSH these are so good. I don't know what the sauce is on these but they are delicious. They also serve family style portions of rice and black beans in bowls. I'm not a big rice fan at all...but I really enjoy this rice, it's done so well...the beans are also good. Really you just need to share one dish here with the sides...maybe we'll do that next time but it's a must return for us.

536888

Bellies full, we rolled out of the restaurant and where did we end up? Soarin'. We pretty much walked onto that one. After that what did my family want to do? Mission: Space...orange of course. Ugh...we walked onto that one also...and as usual I'm still not a fan.

536889

We still had a little bit of time left here.

536890

We walked over to Spaceship Earth which had a very long wait. I thought maybe it was a cleaning cycle...but the line really didn't move at all. We waited quite a bit here...maybe 30 minutes...if we had known would probably have skipped it. Sad to see the people trying to watch the moon landing in the ride staring at a blank tv.

Next we headed back to our resort...did I mention it's lovely?

536892

The two bedroom is soo spacious:
536893

536894

The bathrooms are beautiful and it smells sooo good in the room. I can't even describe it.

My daughter claimed the LARGE pull-out queen bed and my son chose the other queen bed in the bedroom with us, and we gave my FIL the King room.

I snuck out later while DH was getting ready and we prepared the balloons we would set out for his birthday the next day...and we stored them in the ottoman. There is also SO MUCH STORAGE here. I really want to return some day.

I enjoyed some time on our balcony before bed, sad that we would have to leave this place so soon and never really got the chance to explore it fully.
536896

We loved La Hacienda too last year. We thought it was awesome.
Loved the Riviera but think it's a one and done unless there's an awesome discount in the future.

DAY 2:

Our plan for Saturday actually worked out better than I had hoped. I was really concerned about weekend crowds and our time. I didn't have to worry. Here was the plan:
Turns out a few hours at EPCOT and good Mexican food make you tired. We slept pretty well and were in no hurry the next morning to get up and out, especially not for a 7am opening. We did wake up and did a quick celebration for this:
537302

He got his shirt and these balloons...and a few small gift cards and cards. What didn't happen here...and caused of course drama...was I guess we didn't properly wake up the 18yo girl who helped set this up. So she was in quite the foul mood rest of the morning...and of course she would be coming with me.

The guys were heading to breakfast, after we dropped off our luggage at the front and asked to have it transferred to Copper Creek. We've never used this service before, but it was nice to not have to drag the luggage around with us for the day.

DD and I hit the road for the airport after I checked on our friends' flight to see that it would be arriving on time. I think I hit the road around 8:30am and their flight landed just around 9am. DD and I actually stopped at a gas station/7-11 right on the airport property near the cell phone lot and picked up some food and drinks for ourselves since we hadn't eaten, then we headed over to get our friends. They were at the taxicab stand and near the Magical Express busses but as we got the terminal we realized we couldn't get down to that level. So DD texted we would make another loop and to come up a level and meet us. It was around 9:45am when they finally found us and we headed straight from there to Animal Kingdom park. DH and the rest of our crew were already on a bus, as he texted me: "Happiest bus driver ever.".

We got the park around 10:30am and met the rest of the group at the front. We decided since the main goal was to ride FoP (they guys had just gotten off EE with limited wait) we would just suck it up and get in line for that. I can't recall what was posted but it moved pretty quickly at least. I think we waited about 45 minutes
537306

After our flight, we were all a bit hungry. Since our friends caught a 7am flight they really hadn't had anything that morning. So we all did a mobile order at Satuli and headed there.
537307

This is just by far one of the best counter service places on property. I think I ended up getting the shrimp bowl with the lettuce/greens mix and it was fabulous. I also got the chocolate dessert which I shared with DD...also good.

Next up was a ride on EE and Dinosaur...though I can't recall what order. I think we did EE first...where my 16yo and I found this during the line:

537308

I guess I'm an experienced and professional guide...who knew?

537312

I think we waited about 20 minutes for EE and maybe 30 for Dinosaur? My FIL opted out of Dinosaur since he has back issues. Once off that, we decided it was time for a safari. I think it showed maybe a 5 minute wait? We pretty much walked onto it. After that I thought it would be cool to walk through the Gorilla Falls trail...something we hadn't done in a long time. We saw Grace (baby gorilla) and her mom:

537313

It was now around 3:30pm and I had another goal...to make the Animation Experience at Conservation Station and there was one at 4pm. So we hopped on the train:
537316

My kids don't ever remember coming here...it had been a while...as we were passing through the backstage areas we glanced inside the Hippo enclosure and could make out the baby hippo as well...too fast and too far for any photos though.

537317
We were able to walk right into here and got in line for the next Animation Experience...where everybody collapsed of course:

537318
537319

DAY 2 CONTINUED:

DH spotted this cool sign on the lamp:

537320

It says Darth Luxo and it's holding a light saber.

We were informed we would be drawing Turk from Tarzan, and as part of the inspiration we were shown a short video of baby Grace. Now we had just seen her on the trail...so this was perfect. And this is where travel with a 78yo with poor hearing becomes fun...as usual. We are going through the motions of drawing, and pretty close to complete as you can see here:
537321
This is my 16yo son's version.

Here is my FIL:
537322

And at this point he says to us: "Hey this looks a lot like that monkey from Tarzan."

Yes...I lost it...as usual when he says something that makes it clear he hasn't heard something earlier. Oh old people.

Mine:
537323

This was such a fun experience...so glad @CruellaNY told me about it.

It was now 4:30pm and we needed to catch the train back to the rest of the park...and soon to our dinner at Tiffins!

Next up: BIRTHDAY dinner!

TIFFINS BIRTHDAY DINNER:

What can I say about this place that hasn't been said already? I knew it would be good. I have made reservations for this place in the past but always cancelled them. I was so glad we could finally try it this time.

We showed up a little bit early and I mentioned we had 7 people instead of 6 which was on our reservation. They came right back to say it was okay...and we walked inside. I think the hostess was trying to tell us about the themed rooms but hard to hear her for me...I'm sure my FIL caught none of that. I believe we were seated in the Gallery room.

537324

We started off with drinks and appetizers. I think I got a drink of some kind but I can't recall what it was and the appetizers I know were:

537326
Charred Octopus (this was for DH and he enjoyed it...but I think wished there was more)

537327
Duo of Appetizers: FIL got this for the Octopus...but also he wanted to try the Falafel. I tried that...it was okay.

DD and I split the Bread Service. We enjoyed it...no photos. Our friends got the Tiffins Salad...they liked it.

537329
Shrimp and Grits: this was my main course and it was delicious. I think my friend W got it as well and maybe her DH also? Even my 16yo got this.

537330
Birthday boy went with the Surf and Turf...wow look at the size of those scallops. I think if he could have licked the plate he would have.

537331

In the distance is my FILs choice, the Tamarind braised Short Rib. He enjoyed this also.

537332
DD18 got the Butter Chicken. She wasn't thrilled with this one...but that's not saying much since she is picky.

Now it was time for dessert...we probably didn't need it but we got it anyway.

537333
DH went with the Lion King...how adorable is this?

I got the South American Chocolate Ganache...perfect:
537335

FILs choice the Passion Fruit Tapioca Creme. He seemed to like it...no great photo here.

As an added bonus they brought out birthday desserts for DH and DD:
537336
DD hadn't wanted dessert as she was full, but this was perfect for her. The little cookie in the front was like a thin mint without the chocolate.

Dinner was fantastic of course and you could have rolled us all right out of there. We walked to to a totally empty AK park for the most part...cool and creepy. It was sad that the tree of life didn't have the light show happening.

Overall our first full day was wonderful...but it wasn't quite over. It was only 7pm so we headed to check into our resort...but what next?

DAY 2 CONTINUED:

So we got to Copper Creek and arrived at our room which was on the 6th floor. We called downstairs for our luggage...which took a bit of time. Our friends had their luggage so we unfolded the couch bed for them and made sure they had linens they needed. Our luggage arrived eventually and we got settled in our rooms a bit. Around 9pm DH and I decided we'd head down to Geyser Point and our friends said they would join us a bit later...they didn't make it.

We had a great seat on the couch at the entrance facing the TV and college football was playing. We ordered some drinks:
537338

I wasn't terribly hungry but wanted a snack so I got some fries. DH said something smelled good in the kitchen...and he ended up getting the Cheesy Barbecue Brisket:
537339
I would love to tell you how it tasted...but I didn't get any of it. I had a few fries and that was about it. We were winding down fast and our friends had given up while getting settled (and they had had a very early morning) so we headed back to the room to catch some sleep. I would find out the next day that my friend W did head downstairs around 10pm, got a drink from the bar, talked to the same waitress who we had been handed off to to pay the check when ours was ending her shift, and was informed we would probably be able to watch the Ravens-Steelers football game the next day from the bar...the waitress was a Steelers fan (boo!).

DAY THREE:

This was my original plan:

Ok...so we all woke up and since we didn't have to be at STUDIOS until around 9am for the 10am opening we mostly chilled. We ordered some breakfast from downstairs...some of us. I actually got up early and hit the local Walmart by 7am, picked up some water, some muffins and bananas, some milk and some sodas just to get us through the few days. I was back in the room by 8am.

I told the group I wanted to leave around 9am and I think we were out a bit after that. We drove to the park, don't recall when we arrived, but we headed directly to Galaxy's Edge as my friends had never seen that part of the park and neither had my FIL or the kids. So we took our time walking through the area, and actually headed to the area of MFSR. It was approaching 10am so I decided we would all stop there and try for a boarding pass to ROTR. Keep in mind DH and I were the only ones who had done this before...and we failed the first time and got BG 87 or 89 the second time. We all stood around a small area under MF and I set my watch for a one minute countdown starting at 9:59am. At around 50 seconds I started to load the queues...and soon after this was what I got:

537800

Well that screen shot is actually as we looked later for our boarding time...but as you can see we got BG 13! We all celebrated our success...and then we got right in line for MFSR where we may have waited 15 minutes for that or so. With 7 of us we asked who wanted what roles, and so once we had our 4 pilots, I chose the gunner so I was with my son and FIL in one vehicle the the other 4 went to another vehicle. My son and FIL of course were terrible. I think we got out, and headed over towards Toy Story Land to see if we could squeeze something in there, but even TSM was about 30 minutes and we didn't want to miss our BG so we headed back into Galaxy's Edge and grabbed a drink and soon after our group was called!

537799
Selfie with a Wookie while getting drinks...see my FIL in the background trying to hear what the nice CM was asking him!

Just after 11am we saw this of course. The Star Wars fans in the group of course loved it all. We were a bit hungry, so we decided to stop at one of our favorites at Studios...Baseline Taphouse. We got a pretzel and charcuterie and some drinks and grabbed a table to have some food and drink. It was a nice little break.

We checked the lines next, and I think may have walked towards Tower and then saw the line for Tower...the line for RnRC which stretched across the street to where Beauty and Beast used to be...and it was hot and humid. So we chose to go back to the room to watch our NFL Ravens take on the rival Steelers.

I picked up some wings and other bar food from Hooters because that's what DH wanted. I got a salad that was actually pretty good. The guys ate and napped and the Ravens lost. Boo.

Around 4pm we hopped back in the car and headed to Studios. We knew after the hot and humid day that rain was coming...DH assured us it would be well after 8pm. This is what we saw around our 4:30pm arrival:

We headed directly to Tower which showed a very short wait.

That family in the back did not want to get on the ride with us at first when they knew they would be in the back row, because, as the woman pointed out, her daughter ALWAYS has hands in her face during the photo when she is in the back and she wanted a photo of her daughter's face (the one you see 3 from the left in the back). I was trying to tell DH and FIL and my son NOT to put their hands up on the ride...and all DH would say was he wasn't going to make his ride less because of somebody else. UGH. Disappointing. In any case, it didn't matter as you see here and DD and I were on the far right at the bottom.

After this we hopped in line for RnRC, which I think was about 30 minutes, though the line outside stretched all around in the courtyard area of the ride, it moved quickly.

Once off this, my friend and her husband were elsewhere in the park. He opted out of riding Tower and she had stayed in the park when we left earlier as she met up with a college friend who was also there and walked around with them. We told them we were heading to TSM and they were in line for Slinky.

I did not do well on the ride...oh well. We then headed over to Slinky which was showing 40 minutes but looked to be about 20 and I'd say that was pretty close. Around 6:30pm it started raining while we were in line...so we knew we were in for a wet ride.

Afterwards we met up with our friends and the rain was letting up a little bit, but it was close to park closing so we walked out and decided...perfect time for a ride on the Skyliner as my friend's husband hadn't been on it before. So we just took some circuits on the Skyliner for a bit, for fun, and then returned to Studios and drove back to our room.

Almost forgot...we were hungry and the kids wanted Earl of Sandwich. I had no desire to go out to Disney Springs...so we found the menu onlin and Uber Eats was showing about a 45 minute time from our order to delivery. We were looking at food arriving around 8:25pm so we ordered.

And we waited.

And waited.

And my friend and I went out to outside of the lobby to wait around 8pm.

And when it was 8:30pm and I wasn't seeing an update, I called the name and number showing up on the Uber Eats app. And nobody answered.

At 8:41pm my phone shoed that my food would arrive in 9 minutes.

A guy walked up with pizzas...I guess I was too hungry...I asked if he was "Elder D" which was the driver showing on my Uber Eats app. He said no.

At 8:52 PM it showed 6 more minutes.

I think it was sometime after 9pm when a guy walks UP the steps from the Wildnerness Lodge MAIN PARKING LOT...why he didn't park in the valet area is beyond me. I ask if he is "Elder D" and he says no...then asks if I'm "Dina" and I said yes...and he hands me my food...and yes I still tipped him in cash.

Hey I was hungry.

We ate our sandwiches and soups which were good but no way worth that wait.

Then it was time for bed.
Next day would be a late day at EPCOT and kids would be doing virtual school!

This is just by far one of the best counter service places on property.
It is for sure! We just ate at Satuli in September for the 2nd time ever (although I'd grabbed food there during a work trip). Definitely my first go-to at AK from now on if we're doing QS. My favorite is the kids hot dog lol.

So happy you enjoyed Tiffins! I love that butter chicken :) I had a reservation for Thanksgiving day but the kids weren't thrilled with the menu but it's a definite for our February trip.

Well I have not had the kids hot dog, but we all get some kind of bowl concoction that we enjoy. I'm so glad we were able to try Tiffins as well, since it's been on my to-try list for a while now. Sorry you had to cancel for Thanksgiving for yay for going in February.

You sound like you are having so much fun in this trip. Tiffins sounds great- I’ve never been there or Satuli so that’s something for me to look forward to in the future👍 Your FIL made me laugh with his comments about Turk- you’re definitely an artistic bunch as your drawings look great! Hurray for boarding group 13 and a great day at HS:goodvibes
