M.I.A.'s

Denny-

Harold and I are so sorry for your loss.:sad1:

You are such a kind man and I am sorry you had to go through this. We are thinking of you and hoping to see you in a few weeks.

Amy

So very sorry for your loss. No matter how long they are with us, it's never long enough. Sometimes the last gift of love we can give them is to be there when they leave us. I hope your memories will comfort you and time will ease your pain.

:grouphug:Denny, we know what you are going through and I teared up reading your post. It has been almost 4 years since my baby went to heaven and I visit him in my parent's backyard all the time. We had a grave marker made for him with his picture on it. I keep thanking the vet for suggesting it. Special friends like yours and mine (and all the special friends out there) deserve to be remembered forever.

Denny,

Just wanted to add my thoughts and support to you. I went through the same with my 13 yr old lab almost 10 years ago. I know I, as you, made the right decision but that was a very difficult decision to make.

God bless,

Scot

Well I'm still hangin in there, but my Grandpuppy is gone. His back legs quit
him completely about noon on Apr 6. I couldn't even get him to eat a hot dog
or drink anything. I sat up with him till about three in the morning....then took
him in about 10 am mon morning.

I was sitting next to the stretcher they had him on and he started struggling
to get up off of his side......something he hadn't done since the day before. He
rolled to an upright position with his paws out in front of him and laid his head
over his right foreleg and rested it against my leg. That was all he wanted.

It was all I could do to keep from bawlin like a baby...but I knew that someone
crying really disturbed him so I choked it back and just stroked his head and ears until they came in and gave him the sedative. After they left he looked up
at me once and then drifted off. About 5 min later they came and gave him the
final injection. He was gone in seconds. After the Dr thanked me for doing "The right thing" they left me alone with him and I took his collar off for the
last time. I started to cry as I sat there stroking his fur for the last time and
just could not quit. Finally the young lady that helps the Doc came in and
asked me if I'd like a tuft of his hair.

A Pet's Last Request

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, this I know,
Don't let your grief be allowed to grow,
For on this day, more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stands the test.

We had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears,
Would you want me to suffer so?
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they tend,
and stay with me until the end,
And hug me tight and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,
It is a kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish use to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them.... and always will.

I am so very sorry about the loss of your dog. I know how hard it is. Even knowing it is the right thing to do for your furry family member it is still hard to make that choice to have them put to sleep. My thoughts and prayers are with you. :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:
Take care.

Denny, I am so sorry! I hope in time you will remember all the good times you had, and the pain will slowly turn to joy in the memories you shared!

Denny, I am so sorry! You did the right thing for Wookie. I bet that little pup feels young again and gets to go camping and chase squirrels every day now! You are in my prayers

Harold and Amy;

Thanks for the condolences. When are you guys gonna be here I'd sure enjoy
seeing you again.

To all of you wonderful folks who have taken the time to show sympathy to
an old man, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.:thumbsup2

I can only hope that when my time comes I'll show half the dignity and grace
that my old puppy exhibited.

Well........as you know, our life revolves around chickens so it will depend on how long we sit out. I know Harold told you about the cut-backs so we are now hoping(even though it might cut back our trip) that we won't sit out as long in May so here are the dates and they could change....

May 7-21 but we could push it up a day or two and will definitely not stay that whole time.

I will pm you our phone number so we can keep in touch and make sure we get together. I am sooooo sorry about Wookie.

Amy:flower3:

Denny - I just now read this and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry. Wookie was very lucky to have you as his Grand-daddy. Just think....he's now in doggie heaven, running free, without pain, and enjoying himself. You did the right thing, hard as this was to do.

No better words for it Denny. We're keeping you all in the prayers this week. I've said goodbye to dogs in the past, and it hurts more than most people can imagine.

Disney Bishops, Dan where you at, we miss you on chat. Come on man Dis us.
