The Journeys of Lil Medic

Hah... Moose Hillock?

You got it, we left home about 10:40 and checked in at 1:20. The nice lady at registration said since this was our first time here she wouldn’t charge us the early check in fee, 45.00 before 2:00.

It is warm here today 92 but the pool was refreshing. Same weather tomorrow then the thunderstorms move in over the weekend.

How busy at pool/slides? What site are you in? I’ll be curious if I’ll be biking or walking to pool area (or maybe driving if far enough away...

First impressions of campground overall?

Here is a map of the campground. We are in site 165 up in the back. From here it problems took 10 minutes to walk to the pool, at the front of the campground to get our golf cart.

The pool was refreshing, here is a pic of how social distancing is going

About the only time I wore my mask was when I went to check in, other than that you wouldn’t know there was a virus going around

There is car parking up near the pool.
Over all this is a really nice campground. The roads are gravel and the sites are HUGE!

I will post more pics in the morning.

all set up in site 165 at Moose Hillock Fort Ann NY.

here is a pic from the far back corner of the site looking back toward the road just to give you an idea of how big the sites are.

i am able to turn the golf cart around at the back of the site.

Here is the cart that we rented, I thought we were going to get a 4 seater but ended up with a 6.

It is electric and about as fast as the Fort carts. If you bring your own I believe it has to be insured and registered with the front desk.

It is Christmas in July here at the Moose.

They will be doing a site judging Friday night. I only saw maybe 5 sites with Christmas decorations.

But I did see this so I’m not the only one.

Vince, do you ever see 92 except when you visit Florida? You must be hot! :rotfl2:

We usually get up there with our temps,we usually have 1 week in August that it gets in the 100‘s with the humidity, not like Hotlanta where its hot all the time. Working out in it does suck, having to wear hard ha, pants, boots. That is only on certain jobs though, the others we get to wear shorts and no hard hats after we pour.

It is mid-July so we only have about 2 1/2 more months then it will be cooling down. I would rather work in the cold than the heat any day.

Yeah it is hot here. The normal miserable hit this week. will be like this till oct. I think I got lucky being in Ohio last week. Something about July 4. I run as early as I can but it is so yuck here. I dont think I could handle your winters though. Even in atlanta in Jan I have been out with three layers on top and bottom to run.

@4077 here is the car parking up by the pool

If you rent a cart you have your own assigned parking at the pool.

There is no free WiFi at the campground, you have to use your cell carrier.
Here is a pic of my WiFi settings

Slept in this morning, a little. Went for our golf cart ride and making steak and eggs for breakfast now.
trying to decide what to do about camp and the rain that is coming. Weather forecast is calling for thunderstorms tonight and into tomorrow with winds 10 - 15. Was thinking of taking care of all the outside stuff and just doing the cooking for the next few days inside the camper. Ideas, suggestions.

45 bucks for checking in early, that's crazy.

Looks like a good trip. We had your same predicament with rain yesterday. We just packed it all in and went to town for some grub.

That’s what I was thinking with tropical storm Faye on the way. Hopefully we can hold out till after dinner, don’t want to cook sea food in the MH.

If I have to deal with a windy/rainy day I put the awning away and tuck my folded up chairs, wood and stuff like that underneath the camper... if I know it is going to sunny/warm up before I leave, I leave my EZ up out, but I think with gusty stormy weather I would clean it up too. Here in CT, at least, looks like rain will be ending earlier Sat. morning, but guessing a bit later up that way...

Nice thing about switching from the tent to the MH, you don’t have to unfold and set up the MH when you get home to dry out!

I assume you and the are adapting well to the “new” way of camping:teeth:

Looked outside... rain falling... edge of Faye’s rain just got here...B742A291-C25A-4681-8FDD-84836A5E77CD.jpeg

Thanks for the heads up. Just looked at the radar and it looks like rain will start here around 5:30 with a strong cell passing over at about 7.

Looking back it occurred to me that I haven’t posted any food pics. I think I have the cooking bases covered. Black stone griddle, Colman stove and the new bbq grill.

Yesterday’s dinner was top sirloin mashed potatoes and gravy and assorted veggies.

Tonight was ( in the voice of Robin Williams from the movie RV) Shish Kabobs, sirloin, shrimp, scallops and pineapple. That was a funny movie if you haven’t seen it.

Tomorrow morning will be Mickey waffles.

Just started raining here in Fort Ann. Looking at the radar we will have rain all night with a few breaks.
