Calliaz and Mrs. Fleagle (and anyone else)

We just bought DVC last year and I can tell you it was one of the best things we've done. Between last year's 2BR at BCV, 1BR at AKV, this year's 1BR at BCV and those extra things like discount on annual passes, food savings, W/D savings, etc, we have already made up 30% of the initial cost (that's 30% in one year!) Another 2-3 more years, and it will have practically paid for itself!

I can send you (or post here if anyone is really interested) my little "Are you a candidate for DVC?" list.

You always have such good info, Thanks! ....please pass it on!

WOO HOO!!!

Did you all see this??? We will be at WDW at this time!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!

Oh, can't afford it in any way shape or form....but with our big family it guarantees us an annual vacation when if we had to pay it in one chunk we'd never be able to.....
Especially since we can use the points to other places around the world. We're leaning toward it, but I might have to start wearing my Wonder Woman costume on weekends at birthday parties for extra money? Hey, is Wonder Woman even popular anymore? Hmm... maybe I should change my alter ego to someone more current and hip? ;) Any suggestions?

Joining DVC was one of the best things that Jill and I have done. We joined in late 2006 (Have a December use year at SSR), and have been 5 times since joining. We were averaging about a trip a year give or take, but now we can go several times a year. You will get a lot of advice from the DVC members here, both pros and cons. If you are planning on going at least once a year, then I would say do it if you can afford it. You will probably find yourself going more than once a year though, when you get the hang of the point stucture. I bet we could even get Meggin to fly up there and babysit while you and Eric sneak off for a trip by yourselves for a weekend or more.

I can't wait for DVC to open in California and Hawaii. I have never been west of Texas, but may have to save some money and plan a trip.

Research it. Think it over. Don't let the timing of the special rush you as they are doing special buy-ins all of the time. If you decide to buy in, let us know and we'll join there on your first trip "home." We'll be there waiting in YOUR villa...:rolleyes1

Party in the Car??

DVC - not sure if it's cool to post the answer here, but I'll ask the question anyway. Is it a fixed entry price, or is it similar to time shares, where the more you resist, the lower the price goes?

Wow...lots of Disers 'round here.

BOY OH BOY the constant rain here in Washington is really horrible egh?!

RAIN RAIN RAIN!:sad2:

Pssst- Hey Washington Disers...don't let the others know how great this area is!;)

I have always wanted to go to Washington and Oregon and drive down the coast into California. My wife tried to book a trip for my birthday one year and the travel agent wouldn't book it. She said, "Why would you want to go there? It rains all the time." She obviously didn't want our business. I'll get out there one of these days. Maybe when the girls are in college. Something else I have wanted to do is RV it across the country, zig zagging to see all the sites, while taking our time and enjoying the ride. I have been wanting to do that since my senior year of high school.

HA! I just had a quirky little thought: We should all post photos of what we looked like in high school. Then, we should identify which character we would have played in The Breakfast Club: "a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess [or] a criminal."

Now that could be good for a few laughs!!

I'll go first! (Gotta love those bangs!!)

I have only flown through Seattle, but I have spent time in Portland in June/July and I can tell you it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I highly recommend it.

I'm with you there Tripp... a cross country road trip would be amazing. One of my good friends is a professional lighting designer here in Pittsburgh and he was hired by a party planner to do a gig in Seattle a month or so ago. He had to drive a 24-foot truck full of lighting gear from Pittsburgh to Seattle. He said he's never seen country as beautiful as what he drove through in Montana and that his time in the great Northwest was incredible. He even managed to squeeze in a day bungee jumping somewhere in Washington when they had some free time.

Also, a couple of friends of mine loaded up an RV after high school (I didn't go along) and drove from Lake Erie to the Gulf of Mexico on US. 19. They avoided the highways and just drove the old main north/south route all the way to where it runs into the Gulf. It took them forever but they had some great stories of seeing some fantastic small towns along the way.

Any one read any Bill Bryson? He's a travel writer - and a very funny one (well, actually he writes more than travel these days, but that's what made him famous) and every one of his books makes me want to jump in my car and go!

Also, before I run back down the hall for a meeting and a rehearsal . . . I saw someone (sorry I can't remember who!) ask several pages back about when the top 3 found out. I hate when questions go unanswered, and even though Tripp posted his answer, I thought I'd respond too. I also found out late in the day on Monday, March 24th. As suspected, there was a lot of paper work to do and various deadlines to meet before they would confirm us as finalists. Hope that helps!

Thanks Tripp....I do think we'll find a way and sign up! And when we do we will definitely call and let all of you know we'll be there! ;)

Oh, and it's good to know there are specials all the time. I figured they did, but he said he'd give us credit for this last trip we took in January. I told him we always saw people at the DVC kiosks but the ONE time Eric went to talk to someone they weren't there. So, I wasn't sure if they always gave you some credit for your most recent trip or if he was just being nice? Anyway.....things are looking up. Hey, maybe that package was good luck after all! ;)

OH . . . .one more thing! I remember reading somewhere - as I scanned the 20 or so pages I missed yesterday - that Meggin was back in here. I believe she offered her services as an unofficial Vice CMO candidate. MEGGIN! Despite your little alliance with Tripp on his last visit, I highlighted you many wonderful qualities all the way back in the great DISbate. Would you consider being my running mate?? :)

:)

Ok....seriously.... time to get back to work!

RV trip...these days...with gas prices as they are? :scared1: Yikes...probably could afford a few DVC memberships.

As a former military brat I've made a few cross country treks...San Diego to Fairfax Va. a few times, Cocoa Beach fl. to Va., Cocoa Beach to San Diego, San Diego to Phoenix, Az., Up and down the I-5 from Mexico to British Columbia, Canada, and visited a few random states in between including Hawaii, and I can say without a doubt that this Puget Sound area in Washington is my favorite. So do come and see it if you can!
