YOU CANT HAVE 5 IN A 1BR AT BWV!

How can they get away with this?

I KNOW !! :sad2:

I asked her where my 5th person was supossed to sleep, her reply "hmmm, maybe I can find an air mattress for you" :scared1:

I told her unacceptable, one of my kids is not going to sleep on the floor nor can dd7, ds8 and dd11 share one pull out sofa. First she said they didn't have roll-a-ways and then said maybe she could get one from the hotel side :headache: .

I've begun a list of all the questions that have come up because of this move.

Does anyone know whereabouts in BWI is the concierge lounge? I'm sure it is going to be a MAJOR hike from BWV.

Ugh!!

How can they get away with this?

After they gave us the 2BR for 9, my husband said "If they expect us to accept that, then for the next 50 years, we should be able to book 9 in ANY 2 BR at Disney, because if they can break the rules, so can we."

I am so sorry for what you all are going through. I'm getting so mad reading all of this! What gets me is that they arent treating members like they'd treat a cash customer - and that's not right! We all know they'd be bending over backwards for a cash customer to make sure they're stay was more than magical to make up for their inconvenience. Now they're expecting you to take less than acceptable accomodations. It's just not right.

Not that I want to add to your angst but we had a 2 bdrm SSR last week. I was going to cancel our studio but my DDs didn't want to "crowd" into the living room and make my dad move in with my brother's family in the second bdrm. That would have put 7 adults and 1 child in there and believe me it was crowded at night when everyone was there for meals. If you get a dedicated 2bdrm, you will get 2 queen beds in the second room and there is some room in the master for a roll away. But to expect YOU to provide a bed for the ninth person is beyond reason.

I'm hoping you and all the others get some major pixie dust soon!pixiedust:

who has anyone been writing to? I have written to the member satisfaction team only. (If you want to see what I wrote please PM me and I will send a copy, warning it is longish) Who else should I write to?

Before I write anymore though, I will be waiting for my phone call tomorrow and depending on what it says will set my irritation in the letter. Will I be irritated that it is still not taken care or be slightly less irritated but still bugged about how poor this was handled and that I hope that they take care of everyone else as well as they did me?

I wrote the MS team last Wednesday and have not heard anything back. I think my real problem with this whole mess is how it came about at the last minute, how it was often not communicated to us and we had to call them (and still got differing answers!), and how they truly didn't think through the ramifications of what they were offering - especially for those folks who are being put into villas that are too small for their groups.

The #1 problem that will affect a business is lack of communication, and that's absolutely what we are seeing here. It's what caused this mess and continues to perpetuate it. I hope DVC takes note of what's being discussed on this website, because I believe it's going to cost them business in the future. I know that I was thinking of doing an add-on, and this has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I probably will not be giving DVC any more of my money.

I'd love to see what you sent to them, and I'm willing to share my e-mail with you, too. (Mine is also quite long - LOL!!)

Perfectly logical response which you should also tell to DVC. If WE can't break the rules, THEY shouldn't be able to, either. Is the rule due to a fire code, perhaps? Maybe that's your clout then,to remind them that you'd be in violation of a fire code and they really don't want the fire department checking out occupancy to find out DVC is overloading their villas.

They have been allowing 5 in a one bedroom now for some time (I just found this out). So yes, you will be able to book 9 in a 2 bedroom if they are allowing 5 in a one bedroom. I have my opinions on this, but withhold them here for this discussion!

I think we probably share the same opinions on this. ;) Just a hunch. But I also will zip my lip.

I do have this incredible urge to call on the 22nd for our March trip and try to book 9 people into a 2 BR and see what happens (we actually will only be a party of 5 and we were planning on booking a 2BR).

I am going to call this morning and ask about the GV. Dean informed me on the other thread what I already suspected...with it being cash inventory, it is separate from DVC, but I cannot believe they cannot even attempt to get it released back to DVC inventory.

We will see how this goes today.

If the GV is a cash inventory than I feel DVC should be forking up the CASH to secure it for you and resolve the situation. Why not tell them that you yourself will be calling "somewhere" to insure that they are NOT violating fire safety codes by allowing 9 in a villa that stipulates a maximum occupancy of 8? See how that goes over!!!

An update for you from the other thread:

Well, the GV was just as I suspected and Dean said...out of DVC's inventory.

But I do have good news. We are now in a 2BR and a studio at SSR. We received a $225 room credit for snacks because we lost the lounge and will have daily housekeeping. I am NOT being charged the points for the studio, just the 2BR. I am satisfied with that.

Tara was the person I spoke to and she did what I expected them to do at the beginning.

I am, of course, disappointed about the concierge level and the fact we have to split up a little. But I now at least feel like DVC has done something to accommodate our party and to make up a little bit for moving us. :)

I have a question...

Is it only DVCers being moved... what about all the AKL Concierge rooms, are any of them effected (I peeked over on the resort board and didnt see a thread there, so I wondered)

I'm glad that you got this resolved... :thumbsup2
Good for you for sticking up for what's comparable.
It just irks me that you had to fight for it instead of them giving you the options. How ridiculous.
Anyways... it's good to hear that they are giving you all the proper accommodation now.

Have a great trip!!!

Really, would it have been that hard to just do that day 1? Makes you wonder who is in charge down there.

YES!! Now that is more like it. You should have been offered that from the beginning. I imagine there would be less mutiny had they started off with actually offering those going to SSR some type of service....beyond an air mattress, lol.

I'm happy that you are reasonably happy. And I am reasonably happy for my family as well. On the other hand I am still fuming over the people who were told 3 days ago that their reservations were fine, only to be hit with The Call yesterday.

Here's is my update:
I called MS again this morning. Of course the original rep I spoke with knew nothing about this situation ar AKV. She connected my with April. April said that it doesn't look like I will be affected because we are checking in just before the first affected date(we check in Sept 28) however; she did say there are no guarantees because construction schedules can change. This did not leave a confident feeling with me. I asked her if I should just have my reservation changed now since I do not want to be left hanging with only a few weeks to go. She said that if my reservation does get affected, they will find us accomodations. I just sighed and told her I will keep my fingers crossed.
I do not think SSR is anywhere near comparable to AKV. I like SSR but without concierge and the ambience we were looking forward to at AKV, it seems like a rip off. I did a comparison pricing on WDW website and found a 2 Bedroom Club Level at AKV for our party size and dated was listing at $7,166. A 2 Bedroom at SSR for the same dates lists at $3,094. I strongly believe that DVC should give upgrades including hoppers, DDP, etc to equal the value of the rooms they are taking away from us on such short notice.
I am going to keep hoping that my plans don't get changed but if they do, I will be negotiating to get my money's worth.
Good luck to all of you!

Congrats on getting this resolved. I have been following this thread wondering if I was doing the right thing purchases DVC. Glad things turned out for you!

:thumbsup2 Yeah!! Good for you!! I feel like you should give that studio a name. That was harder than labor!!:lmao:

I am glad it worked out for you and your family. :wizard:

As someone who plans family trips all the time, I know how stressful this was on you!:flower3:

Update for me too:

Lost my concierge level studio at AKV for October 25 & 26. I called back today and waited on hold 15 minutes to speak with Reggie - they are really busy this morning!

I told him I was aware of the reason for my change and had spoken with other DVC members and also other family member who have gone through this. He gave me a studio at BWV - preferred view with concierge access. He refunded the difference in points and did verify that if we want to do any of the special AKV concierge only tours, we would still be able to do that.

Then he went as far as to take my points still in my 2007 UY that I haven't been able to bank and bank them for me and also to unborrow all my 08 points and put them back into my 09 UY. This was FAR AND ABOVE anything I even thought he would do for me and extremely generous!

Although sad about not getting the AKV concierge, I think the alternative was more than fair.
