Do you remember ?

:)

17 years old in 1957.

Saturday night Sock Hops and hanging out at the Coffee Shop. Kinda like Arnold's on Happy days.

I had a '57 Chev, brand new $2200. 150 or 210 body style---Not sure. It was called the Businessman's Special, but it was all business under the hood. 283 cubes, Duntov cam, 2 four barrels, posi 411 rear. 3 speed on the column. I liked going after the Belairs with the power glide trans. No contest.

One of friends borrowed his dad's car. 57 'Chrysler New Yorker. 392 cubes in that hemi really worked. That car was a bear coming off the line with those push buttons for the auto trans.

Another friend had an Edsel-----Yikes ! ! ! Reminded me of an old Desoto. Both were tanks and in the tank.

Phone booths that used dimes to make calls. We discovered that if you didn't have a dime you could hit the receiver 10 times fast and dial zero for an operator assisted call. Made calls to radio stations making request songs that way!

Remember when the CB radio was the first non-hands free communications device in most trucks and lots of cars in the 70's? 10-4 good buddy!

Stingray Bikes!

I soooo wanted one of those Sting Rays with those banana seats,,,
but we were so poor the only thing I had to play with was dirt clods and sticks,,so I trew them at the kids on Sting Ray bikes.

(I'm sorry, that was another fishermans tale)
really did want the bike tho.

Wow, I feel old, well at least much older than B2F. If you were at an age where you wanted a Sting Ray and I was at an age where I was buying them for my kids, that means I could be old enough to be your Dad. Whoa, tell me it isn't so.

54 years,,what you holding ?

How about the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with Spin & Marty wish they would show that here at WDW so my grandkids could see it.

This is why we love Disney World so much. Every time we pass through the arch entering Disney property there is this magical feeling, an excitement that comes over us (and I know you feel it too) there is no place on earth that can make us feel like a kid again.

Whew, I'm not old enough to be B2F's Dad!! Let's just say that 60 has come and gone. I've been told that I don't look my age, but after thinking about it, that could mean that I could look older or younger. I never ask.

I hear that from time to time and I tell'em,"In Disney years I'm only 7",,
but I look 10.

TIM MCGRAW LYRICS

"Back When"

Don't you remember
The fizz in a pepper
Peanuts in a bottle
At ten, two and four
A fried bologna sandwich
With mayo and tomato
Sittin' round the table
Don't happen much anymore

We got too complicated
It's all way over-rated
I like the old and out-dated
Way of life

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

I love my records
Black, shiny vinyl
Clicks and pops
And white noise
Man they sounded fine
I had my favorite stations
The ones that played them all
Country, soul and rock-and-roll
What happened to those times?

I'm readin' Street Slang For Dummies
Cause they put pop in my country
I want more for my money
The way it was back then

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

Give me a flat top for strumming
I want the whole world to be humming
Just keep it coming
The way it was back then

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when
