Do you remember ?

Plutospup: I start again with 'really being old' I forget things.

Actually DW and I go to the Little League World Series and we did the cardboard thing on the hill of Lamade Stadium.

We surfed downhill, but there is no water there. We landed in Right Field, had an escort, finger printed and politely asked (or told) "don't try that again".

Now, with your advice, we may do the PA coal banks. THANKS.

Now John, I have to disagree with your thoughts on Pennsylvania surfing. Try taking strips of cardboard (refrigerator boxes), and try sliding down the PA coal banks! It's a cross between surfing and skiing.

Culm bank "boarding"s best done in an inebriated fashion, as I have the scars to prove it!

As the saying goes, pain is temporary, chick dig scars, but gloiry lasts for ever./:rolleyes:

This is one of the nice traditions that still remains (just not all the way into right field). It's what make the Little League World Series so special.

:)

Going to the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA is just not baseball, it is a HAPPENING. The admission cost is $0, but throw a couple bucks in for a donation.

We stay at a KOA about a dozen miles south of the field, on Nittany Mountain. This gives us the opportunity of seeing 3 or 4 days of really exciting baseball, to include some really walloped home runs.

We rotate sitting on the hill between right, lleft and center fields. You can tell we are veterans of the hill. We cut down the length of the rear legs of 2 light patio chairs. This way it levels the chair on (a guess) the 20 degree sloped hill.

I have a picture along with other pictures, looking down on right field in The Disney Community Gallery, while sittin' on the HILL.

Look for us on TV, we will be sittin' somewhere on the hill.

Here is the picture from the Gallery.

Back before the other parks were built and during the busy season, they would bring one of the large transport boats that serviced the TTC over to the FW dock at 8:00 and it would stay there until about 8:20, then took the large load over MK.
The boat would dock lengthwise at the end of the dock and you loaded though the side of the ship.
I am not exactly sure when they stopped doing this.

FortWildernessRick:

Here is a pic from my Disney Community gallery Pictures.

Is this the boat you are talking about---We had a direct in to the Magic Kingdom on this big guy this past April.

We have been riding this guy since the 70's.

I remember 1 year, and only 1 year, they were using a Big Paddleboat Steamer as transportation. It went Magic Kingdom, The Fort, Contemporary, and Polynesian. That was kinda neat.

I'm most likely wrong, John,,but I'm thinking Rick may be talking about one of the Big Paddle Boats,(Ferry) :confused3

It was definately one of the big ones like they use from the TTC to MK. If you walked straight down the dock, it would be docked sideways and you entered the side by way of a large aluminum ramp that was about 6 feet wide or so, that used to just lay there on the dock. Next time you look at one of the big TTC boats, notice the sliding side doors they have on them.

I believe they discontinued doing it around the time Epcot opened. If I can find my old photos and/or videos, I will see if I can find a picture of it docked. The only times I ever remember it being used was as the first boat from FW to MK during the busy seasons. It saved FW guests from having to wait in long lines to board the regular MK boats

:surfweb: Boy, it sure has grown.

Frank: I remember my wife getting me to sign in, on the Boards 11 years ago.

We were Disney Pin Collectors since the 70's.

Right around the millenium, the Collectors Board went absolutely ballistic. You could see the visits to threads was a mushroom cloud.

The chatter, who has this pin, where can I get that pin, let's get together for trading, if you are going to DIS, I need this, this, this, etc. I was never a trader, but DW was a bigtime trader.

About a week go, I posted a thread on the Collectors Board---hello, to pin addicts.. A few oldtimers responded. Back from 99/2000. There is also a picture (not great) of, call it my alter ego---'THE HAT'.

This Board (Camping) has buzz words ; fiends, beer, otters. The collectors board had , Addicts, Holy Grails (the must have pin) LEs, Impossible to get them all, but I will try.
