Can these Limited Magic events get any worse!

I think it would be cool if they did something at the resorts. What if at random times throughout the day a character or two showed up in the lobby, food court, or pool and mingled with the guests there. I think that would be very exciting and unique.

I wish they just wouldn't do a promo if it isn't going to be worth it. Maybe the new promo could have been "enjoy New Fantasyland". ;)

they did this during december at AKV. stitch and santa goofy were in the lobby daily.

Sept 13 at the Disney Studios sounds promising. "Unleash the Villains". If done right, that could be very cool.

Okay, the answer is probably obvious, but I thought that the LTM events were announced days before they happened, so how do we know about the villains coming to DHS on September 13th? Is that because it is a 'big' event? :)

Characters with pants week - Donald and others wear pants for one week only!

There were two or three of these announced initially--this was one of them. Same for True Love Week last month and whatever the weeklong Fourth of July celebration will be called. Everything else yet to come is unknown.

Every resort room contains characters from a Disney Movie!!!

Unfortunately, that movie is 'A Bug's Life'

When this was first announced, I had low expectations. After 2 months of less than lame weeks, my expectations are even lower. I'll be in WDW over Spring Break. To me, there is no promotion this year.
I wonder what the promotion will be next year? Sometimes Magic?
Lol

I must say, I prefer my ducks pantless.....

Crap! Note to self....don't read that too fast.:lmao:

I would take a pants-wearing duck this week. We get the reguarly scheduled Spring trolley show and the chance to purchase some make up. At this point I am totally expecting to have a chance to buy some limited time magic ears with a dunce cap sitting on top. Seriously....my week rocks. Oh, how I long for soup!

The Limited Magic Time is simply a cost saving promotion.

The budget was exhausted with the new fantasyland, my disney experience and a few other things.

Shame but I guess even Disney has a budget.

.

Disney has a limited budget? They don't mind the pennies, they raise prices and cut quality to fund our "new and improved (no so) magical experiences".

:cheer2:

I'm not sure how many locals went to Cosmic Rays for Limited Time Soup when there is better parking at Panera's.

:rotfl:

But the word "magic" implies something special. Which is open to interpretation. But I'd wager if we took a vote, most of the LTM offerings so far would not be considered all that special.

Soup anyone? :lmao:

:thumbsup2

I understand that the promotion is not named "limited edition" magic. But when something is marketed as being available only for a "limited time," the implication is that you have to hurry up and get one before it's too late because the item in question is special and in high demand (analogous to a "limited edition" item). There's a big difference in connotation if you say you're going to do something temporarily versus saying it's "for a limited time only." The expectation is raised further by the overt statement that said offering is supposed to be "magical." I'm sure the opportunity to purchase soup at Cosmic Ray's was a truly magical experience for everyone! :rotfl2:

Maybe instead of "limited time magic" they should have named this promotion "LIMiTED MAGIC TIME." Unless it's a show about nothing! :rotfl:

This is what Disney's own blog says:
"Throughout 2013, Limited Time Magic will surprise and delight Guests in fanciful and unexpected ways at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. New entertainment and imaginative events will only happen at certain times of the year—so be sure to take advantage of these opportunities while they're here."

Agree with your interpretation of limited. We are supposed to hurry up and "take advantage of these opportunities while they're here."

Confused because I haven't seen either fanciful or imaginative. Unexpected -yes. I didn't expect to buy soup at Cosmic Rays. Magical - not so much.

I don't know about anyone else but I am paying for a great vacation and I expect one. Anything extra on top of what we are paying for (resort-deluxe dining plan-park hopper) is just icing on the cake. Disney does not have to go above and beyond for anyone. They already have a wanted commodity which is in high demand. I am going to go with an expectation of I will get what I paid for - then, if any thing out of the ordinary happens, it will truly be special. Just my opinion.

Yes, we all agree (I think)....
But Disney went out of their way to hype this promotion up and, you have to admit, it's a pretty silly one.
We're just having fun and venting little.... I'm sure everyone still expects to have a great time there....
Especially if we get to sit on the extra bench during extra bench week.....

Not every event is going to appeal to every person. When I read that they were having a Spring trolley show, I mentioned it to dh and we both said how our dd would be disappointed that she didn't get to see it. She LOVES the trolley show, and we make it a point to follow them all the way up Main St so we can watch the show several times during each trip. Others simply pass by them and don't seem to notice the performance. To each their own.

I'm leaving on Wed and while we are going to have a great time and there is much magic to be had, I do take a bit of exception with the idea that "Disney doesn't have to go above and beyond" concept.

They promoted this as a grand announcement and our LTM is the trolley show. They were going to be doing the trolley show anyway and they likely would be changing over to pastels and flowers on the trolley. I guess that's ok. I've never stopped to watch the Trolley Show so I might pay attention this time now that I know it's festooned but, "Disney - it's adequate so deal with it and just be grateful you're here" isn't quite the marketing perspective I think they were looking to achieve with this promo.

What the Disney execs. have failed to understand is that a lame promotion is worse than no promotion. And even worse is a series of lame promotions, which is what LTM seems to be. It gives everyone something new to complain about every week.
They are probably considering with everything they have done over the last 5-10 years that they now have a loyal customer base and can remove discounts and generous promotions and still maintain the volume of customers.

Are you still going despite the smaller discounts and lame promotion?
