Minnie Vans now charging flat fee plus mileage.

We had a difficult time with the Minnie Vans on our most recent trip. There were several times when Minnie Vans were not available. In those cases we took a cab which was cheaper. Maybe a price increase will also increase availability?

Color your statements however you want, they are condescending and jaded and preventing you from seeing anything positive. Owning DVC and an AP doesn't mean anything.
No one, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON, believes what you have posted, that anything Disney does is worth twice the cost just because Disney does it.
And you darn well know it.
People will NOT blindly pay it all the time. Will someone? Sure, some people have more money than sense. They pay for VIP tours too. To me, that's way more highway robbery than any Minnie Van every thought to be. Just because they pay it doesn't mean they think it's the best/better than anything else. Or that Disney is perfect. Heck, I stay on site and I know it's not perfect or the cheapest but I choose to because it's a free country and I can. But it's not because Disney is perfect. It's because I like the place I pick to stay.

Want to know if the cost of XL plus a car seat is similar, pull up the Uber app, select the vehicle, check a rate, then pull up Lyft, select the same route, select Minnie Van and check for yourself. There is no one else where Minnie Van is even close to being cost effective, that's been stated here over, and over, and over again. So I'm not sure where this Fantasy Land of posters are you are talking about is either. If you do not need XL with a Car Seat (2 really) then Minnie Van will never be cheaper. Show me where anyone has ever said otherwise. As to the airport ride cost, that's comically high. I can't fathom what they are thinking with it and from the drivers and CM I've spoken with, it's not being utilized

And I'm pretty sure the drivers here have never said that no drivers do well. Just that drivers in Orlando do not (or are some of the lowest paid)
I sure wouldn't count on their making big bucks on tips either. Not with the high numbers of foreign guests who may not even realize they need to tip period.

WOW! I guess if I am not going to be a cheerleader I am subject to attacking!

Have a nice day!

WOW! Apparently any view but yours is wrong? Got it!
You are so anti-Disney and I do not know why you cannot see that there is only one side. Here let me help you, watch the statue, your eyes are getting heavy and you are getting sleepy... You will see no wrong in anything WDW does.

There are two areas where Minnie Vans provide something the competition cannot.

1) multiple car seats. If you have more than one child who needs a car seat, there's no guarantee Uber XL will be able to accommodate you, so MV will be your best bet.

2) if you're looking for fast access to MK. There are time where skipping the trip from the TTC is worth it, such as trying to make rope drop, and MVs are the only car hire that can drop off directly at MK. We're die-hard rope-droppers, and if an opening or two changes for our upcoming trip, I might be in this position of trying to make two RDs. Or, honestly, I might just want to sleep a bit more and still get to RD early.

Also, I believe they are the only way to get dropped off directly at the Settlement Depot at Fort Wilderness for things like Hoop de Doo and Trails End? We have a morning breakfast at Trails End on our check out day (from Boardwalk) and plan to use a Minnie van so we don't have to do a "Bus to MK, then boat to the fort" kind of thing.

I spoke with a Minnie Van driver last night about the rate change. She informed me it was going into effect on the 15th and would be a base rate of $15 plus mileage. We plan on using one on the 15th to HS so I will report what the new rate is if it is in effect.

LOL... the base rate we knew already. Waiting on the mileage rate. Guess the drivers don't know that yet either. Though this is a new effective date, so that's something.
If you get a mileage rate, be sure to update, please.

Have been following this thread as I was considering using a Minnie Van to get to a breakfast we have scheduled at Trails End at Fort Wilderness during our Nov/Dec stay.

If the above quoted price is correct, it will cost $33.15 to travel from Pop to Trail's End. ($15 + $18.15(2.75x6.6 - the distance from Pop to Trail's End))

As we do not need car seats, its just me and DD15 and we will not be in a rush, I think we will opt to use the free transportation that Disney provides.

I like me some polka dots but not to the tune of $33!!

Looks like the rate will be $2.75 per mile

Someone check my math, but it looks like that means anything over 3.6 miles will cost more than the current fee.

So while it's theoretically possible to have a ride that costs less than $25, it's not likely that many people will actually save money.

I heard Contemporary to Boardwalk $34. Nuts!
Ride Guru is glitching and I can't get Disney resorts for some reason, but on the Uber rider app, Uber XL from Contemporary to Boardwalk is $17.

We had planned to use the Minnie Vans a lot when my friend with 2 toddlers was with us, and when going to Fort Wilderness. I don’t mind spending money to make my life easier, especially with various health issues in the family, but that’s a ridiculous price.

- they introduced a service ($20)
- people used it and liked it, price went up ($25)
- people still used it and liked it, even at the higher price...so now they're raising it again. Especially if you need those car seats, maybe it's still worth it for you.

Also, for those curious like me...
Trips of 3.65 miles = $25.03, or about the same as the old price.
Anything longer than 3.65 miles, you're now paying more.

One of (if not the) the longest trips you can make on property is Contemporary (far north part of property) to AKL (southwest corner of property) which is 8.5 miles, or about $38.

I must admit, my knee jerk reaction was that it is too much now, but having fun the numbers, it will about $28 instead of $25 to go to MK. Honestly, I was happy to pay $25, and sitting on a bus for 30 mins is not worth it to save $3. I guess I’m part of the problem, which I’m not particularly proud of, because if I’m honest, I will likely use them the same as I had planned. This is especially true for MK, where they are the biggest advantage, because at the end of the day I would happily pay someone whatever they wanted for door to door service.

However, outside of MK, and on the days I’m not transporting 2 toddlers, I will definitely be using Uber or Lyft more than I would have otherwise.

I was able to map it out with Google Maps, and that's correct. It actually came to $33.70, before tip -- vs Uber XL at $16.70 or so before tip. About as close to DOUBLE as you can get.
