Coronavirus discounts on the horizon?

I’m surprised it’s open. Since most countries have closed off any non essential travel. Also surprised Hawaii hasn’t closed off travel. They may not have a problem yet, but it will be all the tourists bringing it in from the mainland.
Hawaii has been telling tourists not to come for at least the next 30 days.

Actually, I just saw a different graph that shows the peak in May or June. I’m hoping we still get to go in September.

I'm wondering if people who cancel will get a bounce back offer or special deal offer via email

I have an August package booked last year. The cost of my package, with the discount released in Jan, is $200 less than if I were to book today with the discount that Disney released a couple days ago for the summer. Based on this observation, I don't think Disney is going to give anyone any more discount because of the pandemic.

It’s happening. Not sure why all of HI was so slow to react, considering it’s an island....guess it’s just hard to give up revenue. But I everything is getting shut down now.

Just cancelled our end of June trip but have dates picked out for September. Work is going to be slower for me & don't want to go to WDW with a completely empty pocket.
Also shortened the trip & am waiting to book the resort to see if discounts come out. Following along here too.

I am not very surprised that the Sun & Fun discount is not really any better than what was offered this spring. They know that people who have park ticket credits and airfare credits need to use them eventually, and later in the summer is a logical time to use them. I expect we'll start to see the steeper discounts next year.

I booked my August trip in Jan with the first release of summer discount that ended on 2/26.
Just out of my curiosity, I priced my trip with the current sun & fun discount and came out $200 MORE than my current reservation.
No coronavirus related discount yet.

We are booked end of July. was able to switch from POR to CBR for less $. CBR originally wasn’t available with Sun and Fun for dates.

They may end up discounting, but I'm reading on this board, and one other, how people are going to WDW the minute it's open. No reason to discount if that's what people are going to do.

I agree. I think they will wait to have any discounts until they actually see the parks empty. They need all the revenue they can get right now.

that’s what people say, I price out a trip for May every day, it keeps me looking forward to something. We have an AP so it’s flight and room. However the chance of me actually going in may? Very slim.

point people say a lot of things, let’s eee what people actually do.

I think their overall numbers will be down, which will mean more discounts. A lot of people's financial security went out the window overnight. When people are worried and their finances aren't secure, the first thing to get cut are the expensive vacations. Not to mention, Disney gets a ton international guests who are currently not allowed to fly to the U.S. We don't know when that will be lifted. I remember the great deals Disney had during the housing downturn. I went on a trip and stayed at Pop during that time, I think it was Spring of 2009? We booked the buy 4 nights get 3 free deal. Those were also the days when instead of having a view of Art of Animation across the lake, you had a view of the abandoned shell that was supposed to be the first half of the century. It was eerie.

Actually quite a few of the people who have said they are going as soon as it opens are DVC owners. Disney has already gotten their money, so maybe discounts will be coming.

Based on the recent special promotion that Disney offers to those whose trips got cancelled because of the park closure, Disney is NOT giving anything more than what its was already offering. The promotion is the good old "Free Dining" trick with the price tag of non-discounted rack rate. Many who are eligible for this promotion are reporting that the quote is way much more than the trip that got canceled...

This is actually way better than typical free dining. You only need a minimum 2-day base ticket. Normally for free dining, you need a longer ticket than that, plus park hoppers. Depending on family size and resort category you typically stay at, it can be a great deal.
