A Sickie, 3 Hotels, 6 Parks, Boyfriend Drama and Fun Galore:

Great update! Thanks for the pictures around your resort at Universal.

I love that "Welcome Home" at the DVC resorts, and I especially love the Kidani sign. :)
I knew they were going to say that but it was fun to see Mom and Morgan's expressions.

Nice room. I will say that the walks at AKL can be quite long...we've been in Pumba section numerous times.
They were long. We didn't make it to the lobby except walking the first morning there and then our last night there for a DIS meet.

Nice room, and an even better view for a standard view. ;)
One of the choices for the on line check in was Pemba Savannah so I checked it. It was nice. The sunset savannah would have been better but that meant paying for a savannah view.

That is quite the "standard" view!
See my response to Kathy

Bummer about the height of the bed being a problem for you mom but very glad to hear she thought the pull out was comfortable.

That is a great story about the luggage cart - I hope you counted to ensure that all 104 items made it ;)
I didn't count but we had everything. I think they counted the 24 bottles of water individually!!

Pete's rants are one reason we didn't put DTD into our plans for last trip. I am eagerly awaiting for it to be done but just seems stressful in it's current condition.
We did go back during the week and it was better than Saturday night. It was horrible on Saturday night when we were tired and then stressed from trying to get there. I have pictures of downtown Disney and the day was better. We also went back on Thursday night late. The problem I found was needing to go on one end but only being able to get park in the garage. Handicapped parking close to World of Disney and the rest of the Market place is nonexistent.

Kidani Village looks nice, despite the long walk. Room and view are great! :thumbsup2

That's hilarious about all those pieces of "luggage"! :lmao:

The rooms were nice!! The luggageBy this point in the trip, everything was everywhere!! I had packed a bag of snack. A bag that had my
insulin in it. We had a cooler bag...a couple of pairs of shoes per person loose in the car with us. It has to be all that stuff and the blankets pillows.sodas and bottles of water they counted. Otherwise they couldnt have come up with that number.
I am loving the time to work on my TR in the snow...looks likr 6 inchrs or so. It looks like it is sleeting or freezing rain right now.

Lee’s 50th Birthday Bash in the MK—Food, Food, and Fun.

About 7:00 am, the alarm woke me up. I got up and dressed. Then got Mom and Morgan up. We packed the w/c bag( a 31 stroller bag) which we loved using as it is mesh and is see through except for the zipper pocket. We carried jackets and sweatshirts, snacks, chargers etc.

It was after 8:15 when we walked to the bus stop at Kidani to board a bus to the Magic Kingdom. It is a long ride on the bus. We got off the bus just after park opening. Through the bag check and then to see if the Magic Bands work.

They did!! We walked towards Main Street and then to get a snack for breakfast.

A frozen cupcake and a croissant from the Main street Bakery with juice. We sat at a table outside next to a construction wall.

Then we walked up Main Street taking it all in, headed towards Fantasyland taking pictures of the castle.

We also stopped at a photopass photographer.

I think we went to It’s a Small World, Mickey’s Philharmagic and the Carousel. We stopped to let Morgan shop. She was checking FB messages to see if her Star Wars Loving Boyfriend had sent her any messages. Want to see what Morgan bought?

upload_2015-2-17_19-5-47.png

She had to get some Minnie ears. She wanted the traditional ones on the headband.

After this we went to have an early lunch at 10:30 am at Be Our Guest. We had done the FP for lunch. They had lost it and my preorder meals but that is okay we still got in without a problem.

We ordered 2 meals -1 for me and 1 for Mom and Morgan to split. I got the quiche and Morgan and Mom split the Braised pork dish.[/URL
]

We all liked the quiche. The salad was well…mixed greens. The dressing was a little tart for me. It was okay. Next time I would substitute another dressing instead and on the side.

Morgan and Mom loved this dish. I only tasted the potatoes that were no where near the pork and gravy. With Morgan feeling poorly and us sharing, this was plenty for both Mom and Morgan.

Dessert…Well we each ordered a cupcake and shared all three.

We had the Master’s cupcake with the grey stuff. This was the overall favorite.

]

The next favorite was the one Morgan chose. The Strawberry cupcake

Then the one we got for Mom-The ?triple chocolate. It was dark chocolate and decadent. This was very good however the other two better.

We saw another photographer and also rode Little Mermaid.

More Birthday Bash to come.

Lee’s 50th Birthday Bash in the MK—Food, Food, and Fun. Part 2

This is about Noon or so. We were enjoyed looking at the details. You couldn’t see it all. We were just overwhelmed by all the new in Fantasyland. We hadn’t been since Morgan was 15 and Fantasyland was behind walls.

We were also making a dent into food. We carried some snacks with us and three bottles of water. Off we go towards Frontierland and Adventureland. We rode Pirates which had a 15 minute wait. We had a 2-3p. fastpass for Splash Mountain but over an hour to wait for our window. We headed to Big Thunder Mountain which had at 40 minute wait. We went to the line with Mom in her wheelchair. They gave us a return time of 1:40. It is 1pm. They told us where to go with the wheelchair. Now everyone has been telling me Happy Birthday all day. We got to where we needed to go with the wheelchair. I asked if we need to come back at 1:40 and give him the card. He tells me Happy Birthday and asks if I am actually having a birthday while on my trip I tell him yes and said today was my over the hill birthday (meaning 50). He walked around the corner and then came back and said he would take us to the next train. It was actually 2 trains but we were on by 1:15 pm. He smiled and said Happy Birthday. We were in the front two rows!!

upload_2015-2-17_20-6-24.png

It is now 1:20 and we have 40 minutes until our fastpass window. Morgan is hurting now and hungry. We go to Pecos Bills and get Morgan fries and Mom and I chili cheese fries to split and waters. I went through the line to order and they take my order. I get to the window to pick it up and the cast member smiles and says “I hope you are having a magical birthday!” and adds a browning with sprinkles to my tray of French fries. We are eating our snack as we have a 5:15 ressie at Cindrella’s Royal Table. Morgan looks up and smiles. “ I sure like you birthday brownie!” We finish eating and drinking full cups of water the make a potty break…then it is off to see if we get wet. Yes we are on our way to Splash Mountain.

We pushed the chair part of the way through the fp queque and then went towards the exit. Yes wheelchairs enter from the exit. We get on the log.

I never did gauge whether or not Mom liked this ride or not. She had ridden it before but couldn’t remember what it was like.
upload_2015-2-17_20-7-49.png

This was very hard for Mom to get out of. The folks behind us were very nice and helped me get her out.

This was the day we wanted to try to see festival of fantasy parade. We saw a train coming and went to the train station and rode back to the Main Street Station.

We got off at the Main Street Station just before 3 pm and decided to park the chair near the rail and watch the parade. The tables and chairs were all take but we found a spot behind a family that was sitting down.

Morgan and I took lots of pictures.

The next update is MK part 3 and will be all parade pictures.

I am on call tomorrow and just going in since I need to learn something new in the next three weeks and will try tomorrow. I will try to post more tomorrow night or Thursday. Thanks to everyone who is reading along. For those whose reports I am following, I am sorry I am so far behind. I've been working on catching up.

Looks like you are having a great Birthday at the MK so far, that's awesome you got some pixie dust too in the form of quick entry to BTMRR and that b-day brownie!

We really enjoyed BOG when we went, we had dinner but I would like to try lunch someday. I really want to try that pork, that was my 2nd choice for our dinner but the puffed pastry with the scallops and shrimp (which was REALLY good BTW) won out. Looking forward to parade pics, we missed that one on our recent trip.

What a great start to your 50th birthday celebration at the MK. You got some good rides, some good food and some great photopass pictures...and some pixiedust:

It was a great day and I did enjoy the pixie dust. Not waiting for BTMRR entry was the most appreciated. The brownie was good and just a taste for each of us.

Mom and Morgan loved the pork. Morgan said if she had been feeling better she would have eaten a whole one!! This is from someone who likes to share anyway just so she can get a snack along the way.pixiedust:

pixiedust:Is always good!! These photopass pictures were very good...they get better and more fun along the way. All the things we did including the train back to Main Street station before 2:40 pm. I thought we did very good. Up to this point we have not done any meet and greets. We really did not wait long. We stopped to people watch. The longest wait we had so far was for the Little Mermaid ride and that was about 12 minutes. Because Morgan was not feeling good but we wanted to have a full day in the park, we rested and had drinks(mostly the MK free water)

Lee’s 50th Birthday Bash in the MK—Food, Food, and Fun. Part 3

Mom and I love parades. Morgan does not like to sit for parades most of the time. We talked about Parades and decided that we all wanted to see the Festival of Fantasy. I have always wanted to see a parade from the Main Street train station and it was not too crowded so we watched from there. The one thing I can say about that—the Christmas tree was in the way!! We loved the music and the floats. All three of us liked the parade very much.

What a great place to spend your birthday! Sounds like you got a lot done at the MK (both rides and food!) Very cool that you got some extra birthday magic too. I love that your mom rode Splash - I bet a lot of seniors skip that one. Glad you got to see Festival of Fantasy - such a great parade!

AWESOME parade pictures. This is a must do on my list for our October trip because we missed it in September.

You've convinced me to get the photo pack. I was hesitant since we're only taking one minor and I HATE having my picture made.

Are you on a pump? I'm 40+ years IDDM type 1 and allergic to ALL adhesives, so I shoot up 3x a day.:-)

What a great place to spend your birthday!
It was a wonderful place to spend my birthday! I had done it one other time in 2004 when celebrating getting my BSN while working overtime in Labor and Delivery
Sounds like you got a lot done at the MK (both rides and food!)
We did get a lot done. More food coming soon without many pictures
Very cool that you got some extra birthday magic too.
The magic and pixie dust was great
I love that your mom rode Splash - I bet a lot of seniors skip that one.
Mom rides rides I won't ride! She has loved Splash Mt in the past and did until the drop
Glad you got to see Festival of Fantasy - such a great parade!
It was a great parade
AWESOME parade pictures.
Thanks
This is a must do on my list for our October trip because we missed it in September.
Enjoy it expecially without the Christmas tree!!

You've convinced me to get the photo pack.
It was worth it to us!
I was hesitant since we're only taking one minor and I HATE having my picture made.
As you will see, our closest to a minor loved having her picture taken and enjoyed being a child!!
Are you on a pump? I'm 40+ years IDDM type 1 and allergic to ALL adhesives, so I shoot up 3x a day.:-)
No I am not on a pump yet. I am type 2 and know exactly what broke me...a year of steroids. I have shooting up at least 4 times a day.

After the ride which mom said was okay but she wasn’t going to ride again, we went back to our hallway, got off and was told how to get out. We got off the ride and the exit emptied into another gift shop.
:lmao: I'm glad it worked out and she forgot that she wasn't going to ride!

I have to say though, I kind of agree with her. I really thought the queue for the ride was pretty incredible. But

Have I told you how much we all loved Hogwarts Express. I really think with was Mom’s favorite at Universal.
It does look like a really nice addition to the Potter areas.

Yes this is 10 or so. I took these pictures from as far up as you can go.
Wow... I guess the narrow streets don't help, but it looks really crowded. I'd hate to be there on a really busy day.

upload_2015-2-12_20-54-28-png.2506
RIP... one of my favorite rides.

Although I do like the Simpsons too. I'm kind of conflicted on this one... :rotfl:

Morgan and I left Mom and rode Rip Ride Rocket. This is one of the rides Morgan loved and I will never ride again. My head was everywhere. The vibration made me feel so sick and I was wobbly getting off then had all those stairs down. Never again!!
Oh gosh, I loved that ride!!!! I thought it felt pretty smooth the times I rode it!

After this we went towards Minions. The Express Line was over 60 minutes.
 :faint: Wow!

Love seeing this sign
::yes:: As much fun as Universal is, this is always a welcome sight!

This meant that she slept on the sleeper sofa which she said was very comfortable.
I'm glad to hear it was at least comfortable. You never really know how those things will be.

While Morgan was resting, I got out the claims ticket and called the valet to bring our luggage. I looked at the ticket and saw 104 pieces! They had given the valet our luggage and every sweater, jacket, blanket books and anything they found in the car to the tune of 104 pieces.
 :scared1: 104????? Heck, they deserve a considerable tip just for counting that high to account for all of it! :lmao:

You have inspired me to want to do a Disney trip for my 50th birthday...I've never spent a whole week there...time to start planning :)) Looks like you had a great day and some pixie dust too.

:hyper2::hyper2:
:lmao: I'm glad it worked out and she forgot that she wasn't going to ride!
That happened for more than one ride but we won't tell her!! LOL

I have to say though, I kind of agree with her. I really thought the queue for the ride was pretty incredible. But

Hi Lee...We were there the same time as you and at MK on the 4th. We found the morning was quiet then busier in the afternoon. I LOVED the weather that day though for sure!
:welcome:The weather was beautiful most of the time we were in Florida. Jan 4th was beautiful. I loved the 80's and sunshine for my birthday!! We were at MK on Thursday Jan 8 and was in sweatshirts and under blankets.

Lee’s 50th Birthday Bash in the MK—Food, Food, and Fun. Part 4

We get out of the Train station and where do we head? Straight up Main Street back into Fantasyland. WE were again just looking and enjoying this part of the park. We head to our next FP+ of the day—Peter Pan’s Flight. Going through the FP queue we did not get to see the new queue. The flight was fine. One of the most difficult things of the trip-the moving sidewalks to get on and off rides. I know they have a purpose but it can be dangerous for those of us with motion issues. I can ride a roller coaster all day but can’t walk on a moving sidewalk. Mom has a lot of difficulty with this as well. Most of the time the cast members did well with slowing them down for us.

We were just before our ADR for Cinderella’s Royal Table. Maybe 25 minutes. We tried to check in early…can’t check in but 10 minutes early so we looked at the Castle’s murals and rested. Then at 5:10 we checked in and were called for our Pictures.

upload_2015-2-21_20-54-46.png

I know we waited for our tables about 10 minutes after this. Then the most memorable ride happened. The elevator!! It sat on the lower level and just opened and closed its door. The cast member gave the doors a shove, then got in with us. It worked very hard and you could feel the vibrations as it got us up to the level of dinner. I hope the elevator is one of the rennovations in the castle. We were taken to one of the coveted window side tables overlooking fantasy land. It was beautiful at night.

Our server came by and got our drink orders. Nothing special, Water, Tea. And Coke. What got forgotten was the bread service. Not that any of us needed it but we did finially get it after asking twice.

I think Morgan and Mom ordered the Royal Tasting of Cheeses. They both enjoyed this.

I ordered the Castle Salad. I have food allergies so the chef came out and made suggestions and helped me order.

Mom ordered the fish of the day while Morgan and I ordered the steak and shrimp. My steak was cooked perfectly. Morgan said hers was as well and Mom didn’t say a thing. She started eating and only spoke when spoken to and only looked up to see the princesses come by. We were here because this is where Morgan wanted her birthday dinner only almost 2 months late.! However I was the one wearing the birthday button! There was a placemat on the table with all the princesses signatures and it was lamented. Morgan ended up taking that with her to school.

Most of these pictures are on Morgan’s phone and she hasn’t sent them yet. We took pictures for a Mother and her teenage daughter from Tennessee and they took pictures for us. My camera seemed to be difficult for them(you have to look through a view finder) so they used Morgan’s I phone.

upload_2015-2-21_20-59-32.png

I also know food pictures got taken however I can only find one. That is dessert.

Mom got the Lemon Sorbet, Morgan got the cheese cake and I got the castle sampler. It is my birthday. They also brought out a cupcake which Morgan ate most of.

upload_2015-2-21_21-1-10.png

I ended up with plain vanilla ice cream because of my allergies.

Morgan loved this dinner. She had never done it before. She thought it was great and said she would bring her daughters or her little sisters here. We were able to go and did so on this night because it closed the next day for refurb.

We like the wish ceremony and all that was a part of the dinner. We saw Cinderella, Aurora, Snow white, belle and Jasmine.

After we finished dinner, We headed out into fantasyland to our final fastpass of the day. Tales with Belle. This was a great interactive experience and Morgan who was full and tired by now loved it. We went in and through the preshow parts then sat down on the benches. Morgan had gotten selected for a part. When we left, the photopass photographer handed me a card with the pictures on it. I will share a few.
