Jackie and Chris's Wishes Wedding 1/6/12: SBP/Attic/SCP 5/11 Final Post- PJ Finished

I love the Cindy!!! It looks so fabulous on you! Congrats for getting your dress--can't wait to read about your Disney trip!

Okay, so I'm going to do a quick trip report of my Disney trip sometime soonish, I promise--- but I REALLY wanted to share with you all that I bought my dress!!!

When I landed in Florida on Monday (the 14th), my grandmother (henceforth known as Grammy) surprised me and told me that she had made an appointment for us to go dress shopping! I was a little surprised, to say the least! I told her I really wanted to try on the Disney dresses, and so she found an Alfred Angelo store close to the Orlando airport (the one in Altamonte Springs, in case you're wondering) that had some plus size samples! So off to the store we went--- and boy, was I stressed out!

We were about an hour and a half early to the salon, so we had lunch at Subway first, and then wandered around A.A. until it was 2:00 and time for our appointment, and I was mentally freaking out. I had also been up since 4:00am, hadn't showered that day, and was all in all out of it. (I really wish I had more pictures to make this story a little more exciting, but I was too tired to even process the concept of picture taking!)

When our time was up (I was really surprised that they were so busy at noon on a Monday!), I met with my consultant, Stacey, who was very nice. I was a little nervous about that--- I had heard horror stories of plus size girls whose consultants were snooty, but Stacey was very nice and helpful. She brought in the Cinderella dress, which was my top choice, as well as the Snow White and Sleeping Beauty dresses.

I tried on Cindy first, and it was love at first sight. (My grandfather has all of the initial pictures on his camera phone, and he has no idea how to put them on his computer, unfortunately!) It was EXACTLY what I had imagined it would be, and I didn't want to take it off--- but I did to try on the others. Snow White was pretty--- I loved the bottom of the dress, but I thought the flowers on top kind of made it look like eyes. And the Sleepy Beauty dress was just too feathery on the bottom and not to my taste--- I didn't even come out of the room. So then I decided to try the Cinderella dress on again...

...and then I decided to buy it! Here's a picture of me in the dress, making a weird face:

DressDONTlookCHRIS.jpg

Anyway, I LOVE it so much!!!! That one doesn't have the glittery tulle, but I ordered my dress with it--- the size 4 (HA!) sample had it, and it's just perfect! I also ended up buying the veil in this picture, and a tiara, and a fuzzy shawl in case it gets cold at night during our dessert party. Alfred Angelo is going to ship the dress directly to me, so now I just need to find a seamstress!

I hope you guys love it as much as I do!!!!:cool1:

Love the dress on you! You look beautiful! I like it more with the sparkle also, it just adds something special. I felt the same way you did about the sleeping beauty dress, it was like to much was going on. I am sooooo happy that you had a good experience at the store. The dress is very slimming and looks great on you!

Beautiful dress!!! It looks great on you!!! And yay for the sparkle!!! Definately love more sparkle!!!

Just read your pj and LOVE your dress! I have to say, I think it looks better on your figure than it does on the model--it is so flattering!!! I always loved the design, but thought it looked unbalanced on the model...you make it look great, congrats!!!!

Oh, you picked my favorite AA Disney dress! I just *love* the Cinderella, and it looks lovely on you! Congrats on finding your perfect dress! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! It was my favorite dress too. :)

Yeah, the Sleeping Beauty dress was... interesting. I can definitely see how some people would love it, but I suppose it was just not for us!!! And thank you for your compliments!

We girls love our sparkle don't we?? And thanks!!! :)

It's beautiful!!!

I agree--- thank you!

DonaldandDaisy, that is the nicest thing anyone has said to me!!!!! You made my day!

Well, school has started up again (and my students are already being little brats--- UGH!!!), but I figured I would relive my spring break instead of doing the reading (and cleaning--- I left my apartment alone with the dog and the fiance for 5 days and it is a disaster!) I probably should be doing. :lmao:

Tuesday, March 15
This is the day I have the most stuff to report--- we had our site visit with Michelle at 9:00am! So we had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to make the drive from my grandparents' condo in Kissimmee to get to Franck's in time, but we made it...

This was my first time at Franck's, and it's just so pretty!

We were about 20 minutes early, so the girl at the desk also let us into the wedding pavilion, because I had never seen it before. I DO love the view, but Sea Breeze Point is still more my style.

Then, we were off! Our first stop was The Attic, which I hadn't seen in person yet--- and I am SO happy I chose it as our reception venue! I am absolutely, positively, in love with it. My grandfather has decided that if he ever wins the lottery, he is going to buy The Attic and live there.

I am in -LOVE- with this view!

After The Attic, we went over to SBP. (I forgot to take pictures here--- whoops! But you all know what it looks like.) Now, I really, truly think Disney overestimates how long the walk is from The Attic to SBP. I didn't think it was that long at all! My Grammy has emphysema though, so she had a bit of a rough time with it, so I think I'm going to see if I can get some sort of golf cart transportation set up for her... but for the rest of us able-bodied folk, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Then, we took a quick stop at Sago Cay, and here's yet another picture of its view:

I really liked it! It's a bit... smaller than I thought it was, but I am still happy we've decided to have a Wishes dessert party instead of an Illuminations one--- especially due to my love affair with Wishes.

Anyway, so after the site visit, my grandparents checked into Saratoga Springs, and I wandered around the MK for a bit and got some rides in on the Haunted Mansion (my favorite ride), POTC (Chris's favorite ride, so I rode it for him), and Splash Mountain. I went back to SSR and had dinner at the Turf Club (wasn't that impressed, TBH!), and then went back to the MK for Wishes, and cried my little girl eyes out!

Next post will just have quick tidbits about the next day :)

I love your dress!! It looks perfect on you!!! Did you buy the veil you have on also? Or are you waiting on that?? I found AA veil's to be out of my budget for a veil so I ended up jazzing up my own.

Love the start to your PS, I can't wait to schedule mine!!!:goodvibes

March 16th
I started the day with a quick ride on TSMM (they let me skip ahead of the line because I was a single rider--- woo!), but by the time I got off of the ride, ToT had a listed wait time of 100 minutes, and it was time to get the HECK out of DHS. I waited for the Epcot bus, and then ran to get my fastpass for Soarin--- which wasn't up until 5:00! I can't remember the last time WDW was this busy; it wasn't even this bad in July. So I had lunch at Sunshine Seasons (mmmm) and went on LwtL, and decided to wander around World Showcase for a bit.

I'm not a flowery person at all, but Epcot makes itself so pretty for the Flower and Garden fest!

Lightning McQueen... what are you doing in World Showcase??!

For dinner, we went to Via Napoli--- so good! I had an Italian ice cream soda for dessert, and I definitely recommend it (if you're on the dining plan--- I would NOT pay the $10 for it out of pocket!) It's much better than Tutto Italia, IMO! I went and crashed at the hotel after dinner... it was much needed.

OH! I DID see a wedding reception on the beach at the Yacht Club! It looked HUGE--- they even had a piano on the beach!!! I wonder if it was a disbride???

On the 17th, I took it easy for most of the day--- I did some rides at the MK in the morning, but spent most of the afternoon with my grandparents, and we went and saw Wishes and MSEP that night. All in all, it was a good trip--- but SO quick! I also already miss my grandparents, and I probably won't see them again until Thanksgiving! :( But, it's good to be home--- I missed my fiance and my puppy, and we're excited to go back for our planning session in 149 days... not like I'm counting!

I just read through your entire PJ and can't believe that I had missed it until now!!!
I love the way you look in that Cinderella dress. It is so amazing and flattering. I also had so many woes when it came to dress shopping and I actually put it off until about 4 months from my wedding (I don't recommend that to anybody). With so many plus size brides why do wedding shops make it so difficult for us and make us feel like we are not worthy? OK, over my rant, :rotfl2:.

You will love Sago Cay for your dessert party. It may look smallish during the day and undecorated but it has plenty of room for everybody to enjoy the festivities.

I am also in the addicted to the Dis weddings board group and I already had my wedding! Just so you know it doesn't end after the wedding, lol.

BTW, where in Connecticut are you from? I was born there but moved away to Florida when I was young because my dad was transferred through his job at GE. One good thing was we always traveled back every year and stayed the summer with family.

I can't wait to read more about your plans!

Everything is going to be lovely!!
How was the haunted mansion ride? I heard they had a new queue. :)
And Epcot looks so pretty with all of those flowers!!

Thank you so much--- I am so in love with it! I did actually end up buying that veil--- it has little crystals on the edges and was VERY pretty (it was actually the one my grammy and I had picked out before I had tried on dresses.) You're right--- AAs veils were SURPRISINGLY expensive, but they gave me the 15% discount and I was just a bit over the moon excited and not thinking clearly. (Also, my grandparents were VERY nice and bought my veil and tiara!)

Hi there! It is RIDICULOUS how worried I was about dress shopping--- and I normally love shopping! I was really surprised because, here in WI, I've noticed girls are generally... a bit pudgier. It's COLD here, gosh darnit! We need insulation  But, seriously, it's inane.

And, I'm from Southeastern CT (Norwich to be exact--- which is by New London/those newfangled casinos that opened up about 10 years ago.) How about yourself?!

Everything is going to be lovely!!
How was the haunted mansion ride? I heard they had a new queue. :)
And Epcot looks so pretty with all of those flowers!!

They DO have a new queue but it wasn't testing any of the times I rode it!!!! I was SO annoyed!!! I might have moved some bushes out of the way to snap a picture of the new tomb though... just maybe...

"This is where it happens," he said. "Look, I know this is the most magical place in the world to you. But, to me, the most magical place in the world is wherever you are. And I hope we can keep coming here every year for the rest of our lives. Will you marry me?" And then he got down on one knee, and then I cried, and then he cried a little bit, and then people started shouting "Say yes!" and it was adorable.

That is SO CUTE!! What a great way to ask :cutie:

HOLY MOLY!! That's the Cinderella dress!??! It is so gorgeous on you!! I love it!!

I'm going to Alfred's on Monday and i really wanted to try it on, but we're having a super simple wedding and i don't think it'll work.

Pffftt. Our wedding is fairly simple (well, I'm laid back, I guess you could say) but it's still perfect! Try it on anyway--- and bring back pictures! I'm going to go visit your thread now. :)

the cinderella looks great on you!! congrats on finding your dress!!!

Thank you!!! I can't wait to see your AA pics!

So I just read all of your PJ! I'm loving your plans and everything! Your proposal story was really cute, and your ring looks similar to mine :)

Your dress is gorgeous, it looks so great on you. And I loved seeing the pictures of your venues. I decided to do an at-home wedding since we had a lot of people to invite, but it's seeing pictures like that which makes a small part of me wish for a Disney wedding!

Looking forward to reading more!

GORGEOUS DRESS! Cindy is my fav too! It looks great on you! :cool1: So sorry to hear about your FMIL drama, a while back I/we were catching alot of crap about having a DFTW from his mom and finally he stood up to her and told her that its not about what she wants or thinks is right. This is OUR day and if she doesnt like it, cry a river build a bridge and get over it!!! --All this without me even knowing or giving him that idea!! Since then its been great! :goodvibes

One of my coworkers is having a REALLY hard time with her FMIL and it seems like nothing will fix it..nothing! She's actually getting married today and got a call on Wednesday from said FMIL that she may not make it to the wedding because she's in the hospital with a really bad disease..SHE WAS NOT! Annndddd she was the one who pushed them to have a big wedding. They wanted to go to a beach and get married but she convinced his family against it and offered to pay for the big wedding...and guess what, that witch hasnt paid near what she said she would! So now theyre having a big expensive wedding that they are paying a huge chunk for (that the mom forced them into) and she may not even go!! That is just tacky! --Obviously Ive got strong feelings about this.. :rotfl: I just hate it when people take advantage and dont treat you right!

I really hope things get better for you!

Congrats on the dress!!! :) Yay!!

Thank you!!! It is such a relief to have the dress bought and found. Now I just need to find a seamstress...

Yeah, Chris and I would have had a ton of people to invite (he has 10 aunts and uncles, PLUS spouses!!!!) and I didn't want to have a huge wedding and break the bank!!! So, I guess I'm just... mildly scratching the bank with a small wedding. :lmao:

Ohhh, that's GREAT! I am so glad your DF stood up for you. It makes you feel good, you know? And that's awful about your friend. A good friend of mine who got married last year is ALSO having MIL drama--- she had to FIGHT with her MIL to get her to pay for pizza for a rehearsal dinner (less than a hundred dollars!) and now her MIL is having a rehearsal dinner catered for her husband's brother. These women are ridiculous sometimes!!!

But, Chris has since made up with his mom, which is good, I guess. I told him I'd be nice... but I really don't want to be! (I am okay with him making up with her though, because he's having her pay for my dessert party! And I'm getting the Wishes music!!! haha) But I don't think I'll have to see her until Thanksgiving... and if I play my cards right, not til the wedding!!!! :)

You look beautiful in your dress!!! I think it's perfect!!! :yay: Oh, by the way, you are getting married on my birthday! :) I will never forget your date, haha!
