Hey guys! I haven't started a thread over here, but I loved our wedding so much I thought I'd share our recaps with you in case they helped someone!

Glad I had…

A Disney Wedding!

I feel like this should go without saying but I could not be happier that we had a Disney wedding! For the first time in (probably) years, I turned my brain completely off that day and relaxed into the celebration. I definitely expect Disney to take care of us when we vacation, but this wedding completely exceeded even our high expectations.

The Roots!

Hiring the Roots was my number 1 priority going into this wedding. Jackie said she wouldn’t have a big celebration anywhere but WDW, and I said I wouldn’t do it without the Roots. I know, without a doubt, that I was right to hire them and I am so happy and glad that we did. Despite the fact that Jensey was in the hospital (she came home on our wedding day, between our reception and dessert party), Nate was completely present and genuinely excited for our day. He brought Kimberly Mitchell with him to help out in Jensey’s absence, and we loved her too! We didn’t have to worry about anything and felt completely comfortable to be ourselves. LOVE the Roots!

Patricia LeJeune!

Patricia and her ladies exceeded all expectations. They listened closely to each member of our party/family that they worked with, and everyone was thrilled with their hair/makeup. Two of our sidekicks seriously regretted not getting their makeup done and asked for lashes when we all got them! My cousin had them do her eyes, and my mom, who is super picky about her hair/makeup, was so thrilled with her makeup that I don’t know I’ve ever seen her so happy to look at herself! Patricia was very serious about doing exactly what we all wanted, which made us all feel amazing. Jackie and I were both stunned by our makeup and all the colors and things that she chose for us. Patricia was also super excited about my dress because she had just done a photo shoot for my dress designer in Florida, so that excitement added to my confidence and happiness about my day! <3

A dessert party!

I am so glad we added the dessert party back to our agenda. I definitely felt better about the reception ending knowing that I would see everyone again that evening for dessert and fireworks! Our carrot cake cookies were a HUGE hit, as were the mickey bars. Everyone is still talking about how they can’t imagine a better spot to watch illuminations (I won’t be one to tell them any different lol!) and how excited they are to have had “VIP” viewing! I think everyone enjoyed being escorted into the park and to a separate area, it made them feel special on our day too! Jackie and I just loved being able to entertain guests at the end of our day!

A caricature artist!

Our caricature artist was truly talented and completely blew our guests’ minds! I mean these pictures are hysterical, I can’t wait to share them with y’all! I was a little iffy on this part, but my mom REALLY wanted to add something else to the reception since our small(er) guest list freed up some of her money, so I conceded and I’m glad I did. This was a fun way to get people who didn’t want to dance a lot involved in the day!

DJ Charles Miles!

Okay we LOVED DJ Charles Miles! He was so pumped about our wedding, and so good about reading the guests. I could tell that he cared a lot about doing a great job and doing exactly what we asked. He seemed invested in getting people to have a great time and he seemed like he had fun as well. I cannot imagine a better DJ for us. Seriously, I am so happy!

A room at Boardwalk by renting points!

The Boardwalk was so perfect. I definitely underestimated how much I would love staying in the Epcot resort area, but walking to Epcot and Studios was even more convenient that I imagined, especially after we spent our last night at Poly and the monorail had “technical difficulties,” which meant a 1.5 hour travel time to MK. Whaaa? Yes. It took us 90 mins to get to MK from Poly. I especially loved the bakery/pizza window, the proximity to Beaches & Cream, the games, and how relaxed the atmosphere felt. I am in love.

Written our own vows!

Our vows were BY FAR the best part of our ceremony. We had our guests chuckling, and we had some sniffles, it was the best! I will talk more about this later, but I feel like between our vows, Melissa’s reading and our head sidekick toasts, our guests really got to see us as we are, and with our ceremony being slightly less than we wanted, I’m glad our vows were a hit.

My cousin Melissa do a reading during our ceremony!

Melissa read from The House on Pooh Corner, which was perfect. She couldn’t look at me the whole time because she was trying so hard not to cry, and that made me cry! Winnie the Pooh was a favorite of my grandmother’s and she read this story to us many times as children. I am so grateful to have a new connection to the story, so that it is no longer just MY memories, but OUR new memory. I love that I can share it with Jackie now and that I can honor my grandmother as well. BEST.

Only half a first dance and finished up with all of our guests!

Ok this might have been my greatest reception idea ever. We danced for only about 30s or a minute, and then DJ Miles asked everyone to join us, AND THEY DID! It was amazing and so much fun to have literally everyone on the dance floor with us for our first dance, it is a memory I will NEVER forget.

Ear Hats as favors and Mickey and Donald at the reception!

Our guests FLIPPED over these two things. I have so many photos of people’s place settings and adults actually cried at Mickey and Donald. SO. MUCH. FUN!

A small wedding (even though we didn’t necessarily plan it that way)

I worried about this part and tried to convince myself that it would give me more time to spend with each guest, and the reality is that it really DID allow me to spend time with each guest. I didn’t even notice that we had a small wedding, our venues and our timing made it feel big, and being able to talk with everyone, dance with everyone, and take photos with everyone made a huge difference.

My nails redone at Image Nails when we arrived.

By the time we arrived in Florida from Houston, my nails were a hot mess. My fingernails were all sorts of different shapes and my toenail polish (shellac) was coming off. ***?! It was stressful to check into the hotel and rush off to Image Nails but I am so glad we did because they did a GREAT job!

Disneymooners!

I am so happy I joined this community. I didn’t always get to catch up or respond to everyone, but I have so enjoyed reading about everyone’s days and talking about ours. I hope to stay in touch with the community in the future and be of help to anyone who needs it! Of course, I also am determined to plan a VR later on so there’s that as well!!!!

Wish I had…

Videography.

It just wasn’t in the budget, and I didn’t fight it too much because I had already fought hard for the Roots, so I felt like I used all my fighting points already. This is probably my biggest regret. Jackie walked in to the James Bond theme and apparently it was a big hit, but I feel so awful that I didn’t get to see it!

Been more aware of my shoes during/after the reception.

My brand new Jimmy Choos are gone. Totally disappeared. Jackie and I both I changed into our chucks after our first dance, stored our shoes next to our table, and somehow I ended up with only Jackie’s shoes and my mom’s shoes. I figure Diane thought my mom’s shoes were mine and didn’t check further for mine, and I can’t really fault her because I didn’t look either! I was definitely not thinking clearly after the reception and only wanted to get back to our room and cool off for a bit before the dessert party, but in hindsight I wish I had been a little more aware. Oh well.

Vendor Reviews

Root Photography

I think we all know that we are completely obsessed with Root Photography, so it goes without saying that we believe they were worth every penny and then some, and that we hope to use them for every possible thing in the foreseeable future. For us, they were absolutely perfect in every way and we love them.

Bindle & Keep

Bindle & Keep made Jackie’s amazing tux. She looked fabulous, and they did a great job, but I would say that if you have a deadline for something, tell them you need it like 5 weeks ahead of time, because I got nervous when we didn’t have it until a few days before we left!

LeJeune Artistry

Again, I hit on this above but I cannot imagine being happier with our hair and makeup. I am so impressed with Patricia and her team and I would love to find an excuse to use them again and again!

DJ Charles Miles

I feel like a broken record but… can DJ Miles come to my birthday? And my law school graduation? And every VR we ever have? (notice those VRs are becoming more numerous the more I write…) LOVED Charles Miles! I am so glad we asked for him and got him!

Carolyn Allen’s

I wasn’t present when CA worked their magic but my dress looked amazing and my mom was pleased so I think they must have done a great job! They did my dress, Jackie’s suit, my dad’s suit (which was dirty when he got there. Really? You had to have a $350 tie and you couldn’t get your suit cleaned?! Ugh), and all 4 sidekick dresses. They also left some sort of information for preservation and a discount. We ended up having them pick up my dress for preservation and just got confirmation that the company in NY had received my dress. (fingers crossed this turns out ok, I have mixed feelings about it).

Impressions by Shelley

I thought Shelley did an outstanding job on our invitations! I completely loved them. For serious. I want to frame one and I am SO not artsy. I have so much stuff I need to frame or do something with and I have no clue what to do. Anyway, Shelley was awesome, they were on top of communication and great with suggestions and timing. I have no complaints!

Unity in Glass

Getting the glass and shipping it back was super easy and convenient, I guess I’ll write more when we receive our finished piece in a few weeks!

WSHS Fairytale Designs (etsy)

Everyone loved the robes and Nicole was just great in her quality and delivery. Her estimates were spot on, which was great for us since these were definitely an afterthought. We are thrilled with them!

White Diamond Affairs (etsy)

We loved our hangers and they got to us super fast, we didn’t even rush them!

Weddings and Such (etsy)

We ordered our flower girl’s basket from here. Other than the handle being a little bent (and wouldn’t straighten) I would say we are perfectly happy with the basket and everything. No complaints!

Smiling Blue Dog (etsy)

I loved our bouquet charms and this seller was also super friendly and super fast!

Atarah’s Creations (etsy)

This is a kids store where we purchased Jackie’s bowtie (bc her neck is so small!). No complaints. It looked great, it got here fast, Yay shopping!

MeMe’s Craft Boutique

This is where we ordered our cups for the morning. Seller was super nice and emailed or called to clarify about colors and such before fulfilling the order, which was really nice. No complaints.

We left Houston at 5:30am on Tuesday, May 12. We had packed the cars the night before (my mom caravanned with us!)… and I so wish I had taken a photo of them because they were such a great example of luggage/wedding tetris. For real. We knew we only had to make it to Tallahassee, so we weren't too concerned, just wanted to miss rush hour traffic in Houston, Beaumont, and Baton Rouge. I used the car ride to write detailed itineraries for our guests.

Needless to say I was super paranoid about people missing their bus or not getting somewhere. In the end it all worked out, but I spent a couple of hours working on different timelines for groups of people. Meanwhile, my cousin Melissa was emailing me about her reading, she wanted to do one from The House on Pooh Corner and a list of Disney advice. Obviously I told her that was totally cool, and emailed our officiant, who seemed a little put out that she wasn't printing off something for Mel to read… a small red flag. *shudders*

Since I don't have photos from this day or the next morning, I'm going to make this part super short, ready? We got into Tallahassee about 8:30, awkwardly unloaded the cars, went to eat and realized my nails were not going to make it to Friday, then frantically called nail salons in Orlando trying to find an early time. Ended up with an appointment at 9:30am the next day (Wednesday), which meant we would need to leave Tallahassee no later than 4:30am the next morning. We slept, got up, re-packed the cars, and made it *home* by 9:00am!

Ooooh. Aaaahhhh.

We got my nails fixed (Image Nails on Turkey Lake did a fantastic job!) and headed to the Boardwalk for a much needed refreshment!

(mine)

(Jackie's IPA)

Then we headed to Epcot for a quick Flower & Garden tour and to pick up Maddy's stuffed donald for wedding day distraction. We passed Uk lochside (yay!)

Along the way I apparently only captured this photo of the venezuelan beer (meh) and coconut tres leches (pretty good):

This is why I love Flower & Garden:

Meanwhile, we got this photo from our friend Mandy and David (and FG Maddy!):

I picked up some Epcot maps for the DP directions since we didn't provide transportation to that event and I picked up some Crescent Lake area maps to direct Melissa and Kailie from Beach Club to Boardwalk for the wedding morning.

By this time, my dad and sister had arrived and it was time to head to dinner at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge! We got there super early and were waiting on Mandy, David, and Maddy, so we took the opportunity to show my dad and Lauren the grounds and take in some Disney wildlife!

Mandy, David, and Maddy got there just in time to see another bunny and head in to dinner!

mmmmm Cheeeese!

Ketchup!!!!!!!!!

mmmmmm chocolate!

]

Pony rides! Maddy was such a trooper (so was Jackie!). For 2.5 years old, she is such a fearless beast! LOVE :)

After dinner we took my dad back to his room at POFQ and dropped in on my older sister (Dana) and nephew (Dane) from Hawaii. They brought us some very popular fashion statements from Hawaii:

Also, check out their towel animal!!

Day 2 coming soooooon!

I forgot to mention that on the drive we purchased Memory Maker and I am SO glad we did, I LOVE all the photopass photos with our guests, it just makes my day everytime I look at them!

Thursday, May 14 we were greeted in the morning by these beauties outside our window:

Carolyn Allen steaming was coming at 10:00am, so I needed to make sure all the garments were in my mom's room for that. She brought a garment rack from the Container Store so that everything could hang nicely for steaming, etc. It occurred to me around 8:30am that I didn't have my cousin Kailie's dress, so I had to run over to Beach Club (we were at Boardwalk), get into her room, grab her dress, and run back. We also had to pack our bins for Franck's (they were full of all kinds of stuff from the car trip), and load them in the car to take to Franck's. After we dropped the bins we headed to the airport to pick up Tara & Tanya (T&T), dropped their bags in our room (they stayed with us the night before the wedding, and moved to Pop Century on the wedding day), and headed to Gasparillas at the GF for lunch.

After lunch we had some time to kill before our 2:30pm rehearsal at the WP, so we showed them around the Grand, looked in the gift shops, and waited for the rest of my family and our flower girl to arrive. I asked everyone to meet at the Grand Floridian lobby and walk over to WP because we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare at 4:10pm and I thought it would just be easier to do that. Meanwhile my cousin was texting me in a panic because she monorailed from MK to Epcot and couldn't figure out how to get back to Beach Club, cast members were apparently telling her it was impossible to walk to Beach Club and there was no bus transportation, so there was a lot of confusion! She wanted to move resorts to the Contemporary on the night before the wedding when she and Kailie needed to be in our room at 5:00am! Uhhh no. So I had to calm her down, tell her she could in fact walk to Beach Club (she ended up taking a taxi anyway), and then wait for them to get to GF. What an unnecessary mess! Anyway, we headed to the WP with everyone and met our officiant and Diane there.

Maddy hangin out!

Maria running through her very explicit instructions for how things were going to go down (oy. Maybe I was too laid back for her?).

After Maria did her thing and we were terrified of her and her huge book of papers, we went through the lineup with Diane. Where people stand, how the timing is going to work, etc. Then we goofed around in the WP for about half an hour before leaving to head back to GF for 1900 Park Fare.

At the Grand, we were early and waiting on my aunt and uncle to arrive (they flew in later at 2:00pm so they were en route when we checked into our reservation), so most of our party went shopping, went drinking, or sat around and talked.

Jackie and Kailie

Our flower girl and her parents had gone off to the toy store and came back with her dressed up as Cinderella! I completely flipped out, ran across the lobby, picked her up, swung her around, and almost cried. Lets just say I was emotional lol! Cinderella was my jam as a small child, I had almost every piece of clothing and toy set my parents could find.

Isn't she adorable? We think so.

We FINALLY got to go in for dinner and took this photo on the way in (via photopass).

The fam & friendfam!

When we were seated, the chef came out to manage our plethora of allergies (tara, tanya, my mom, and my dad all have allergies or dietary restrictions), and we were off to the buffet and characters!

Maddy (pre-characters)

The first character to visit was Prince Charming, who was mighty dapper.

Maddy was not a fan of Prince Charming. There was a lot of "NO!" and some whimpering. It was pitiful!

Us and then T&T hamming it up with PC!

Next up was Cinderella herself, and she was not a big hit with Maddy either. She spent a lot of time with Maddy trying to get her to smile or take a photo, but Maddy wanted nothing to do with her.

Maddy says: "Bye Felicia!"

Us and then my dad hamming it up with Cindy.

Our faves were up next, the Tremaines! (we have a thing for villains…) Lady Tremaine came by first, and Maddy immediately warmed up to her. Lady Tremaine said "here, hold your scepter, hold your chin up because you are better than everyone else and you're looking down on the world" and this is the photo we got!

THAT is almost a smile! Aww LOVE Maddy!

My cousin Melissa compared hair height with Lady Tremaine. She was concerned that her hair had fallen, Lady Tremaine was very nice and told her it looked amazing. <3

Last to make it around the tables were Anastasia and Drizella, both of whom were a relative hit with Maddy and obviously fans of us!

The totem pole of seriousness.

Us and then Melissa & Kailie

My sister Lauren

My mom! (Obvi Anastasia was a hit!)

Dinner was a blast and we were so happy to share it with everyone. Tara & Tanya really embraced the Disney spirit on their first night in, which just made everything even better! After dinner we gave out gifts in the GF lobby: the necklaces to the girls, the golf marker for my uncle James, the Alex & Ani bracelet for Melissa, and my mom bought my aunt Fran a coffee mug. We departed GF stuffed and happy, and went with T&T back to our room at the Boardwalk, ostensibly to relax before the big day.

Needless to say relaxation didn't happen, so we popped a bottle of champagne and poured it into red solo cups (bc that’s the kind of classy people we are!), and walked out onto the Boardwalk for some games and sight seeing. We walked T&T all the way around Crescent lake, and when we walked past Ariel's I noticed our floor diagram replicated in preparation for our reception and seriously LOST. MY. SH*T.

And with excitement we headed back to our room to shower and get ready for that early morning wake up call!

Hiiiiiiiiii over here!!! Welcome to the world of multiple forums :D I'm so glad you're here!

So I also forgot to mention that Nate (Root) emailed me on Wednesday to let me know that Jensey probably would not be able to make it to our wedding, as she was in the hospital and most likely having surgery. I was super bummed about this, and super torn because I liked Jensey so much when we met her in January and I REEEEEALLY wanted her to be a part of our day, and also because I was concerned and worried that she had such a miserable week and was undergoing surgery. How scary and sad and awful! I did worry that the photographer Nate asked to help out for our wedding wouldn't like us or wouldn't "get" us… which was, of course, Bride brain on the fritz, because Kim was AWESOME and such a great part of our day. I still wish Jensey had been there (because I like her soo much!) but I am happy to have met Kim and have great photos to show for both Kim and Nate being there!

Onto the wedding day!

I had gone to bed super late the night before, I just kept organizing things, organizing Jackie's clothes since I wouldn't be in there, organizing the sidekick bags and stuff (their robes and cups were a "morning of" gift), organizing the stuff I needed to bring next door to my mom's room for me to get ready. I was redonk. For some reason, Jackie and I bounded out of bed at 3:45am, a full 45 minutes before we intended to get up! We could not sleep any longer, so we just got up! I come out of the bathroom after changing into my "getting ready" sleep clothes and see this:

Hilarious. This is why I married her.

We set up our pillows in our new pillowcases from our shower and soon afterward I went over to my mom's room and drank my coffee in peace before Patricia LeJeune and her team arrived for our hair & makeup.

New pillowcases

Me, awake and drinking my coffee in peace. LOL, I say that because apparently I had the zen room and Jackie's room was chaos all morning!

Patricia and I can't even think how many other girls arrived and got to work in Jackie's room on her makeup and Kailie's hair.

As soon as Jackie's makeup was done (which was apparently SUPER fast), she ordered room service for everyone. I really had no idea how excited I was until I tried to eat that breakfast - all I could manage was a little bit of fruit and some chocolate milk. Thank God she ordered me chocolate milk! I don't think the coffee helped this lack of hunger/jitteriness.

Meanwhile, Tanya was attempting to do hers and Tara's makeup herself in Jackie's room (a decision she later regretted) and one of LeJeune's hair stylists was getting to work on my hair in my room while my mom and sister watched.

Kailie came to visit around the time they started working on my sister Lauren's hair.

And just as my curls were finishing and my hairpiece/headband fastened, Patricia started on my makeup.

Patricia suggested eyelashes and everyone jumped on that bandwagon (including T&T and Melissa!) And finally I was finished and the ladies got to work on Tara & Tanya's hair and Lauren, Kailie, and my mom's makeup.

FINISHED!

I asked Patricia for a photo! Love her!

Things got real serious at this point as Nate & Kim arrived… so to be continued!

When I left off, our photographers were about to arrive…. And now that I have my photos, expect these posts to be absurdly photo-heavy. Apologies in advance!

For the first time in my life, I turned off my brain. I turned off my brain probably right after I posted this photo on facebook…

Consequently, I have no idea what time it was, whether or not we were on schedule, etc. Looking back and knowing what a control freak I am, this is really weird!!! Lol! But so perfect, so much fun, and I am so thankful I could just give away all that stress to Disney! Anyway, I know make-up probably went a little late, because so many services were added at the last second. Everyone in both rooms added eyelashes, my cousin Melissa had her whole face done, etc. It speaks to LeJeune that as soon as they started working, people wanted them to do even more! My mom was so happy with her makeup, it put her in the best mood all day long! Anyway, Nate and Kim showed up and I was SO. FREAKING. HAPPY to see Nate! All my fears about Kim not liking us or not "jelling" melted away as soon as I met her. She was so sweet and bubbly and excited, it was great! I missed Jensey, but I was happy to have Kim. Annnnnnd photos!

Dark and Early ;)

Lashes!

Dress!

Tara & Tanya in their robes (last minute purchase and so so fun!)

Apparently Jackie didn't want people to think she wasn't wearing pants… hence the gangsta tuck.

Details:

Oh I'm so bummed about my shoes :( Seeing them look so beautiful in my photos makes it so much more sad that they never turned up!

Next up, we actually get dressed!

I'll just jump in with photos…

Jackie first… So since Jackie's suit was white, she told Tara that the tailor said it would pick up everything, so be careful who touched her and where she sat, etc all day. Tara took this to the bank and wore a rain jacket whenever she touched Jackie for the whole morning. She even took it off and laid it across seats and chairs in the vans, at the Boardwalk, in the vestibules, EVERYWHERE. Here is Tara putting on the jacket and explaining "the plan" to Jackie:

Jackie's new initials:

And earrings going in = success! (apparently this was a phobia…)

Nate took this opportunity to take photos of the inside of Jackie's jacket:

Annnd she is dressed!

My cousin Melissa saying "ok y'all I'm going to go ride with Kenny" and Kailie in the background thinking "ok mom, go away!" Oh to be 15. Look at Jackie fixing her tie <3

My turn!

Like I said, my mom was PUMPED about her makeup. I should note that she added the beading on my belt, the ribbons to my headband, and most of the beading on her dress. She is a rock star! (this is also how Nate found out that I was a figure skater, and turns out, so was Jensey! It made us miss her more!) Ok now more pictures!

This is me saying "I swear, it will zip, just hook the thingy, pull my ribs together, and zip the damn thing. This is exactly what happened last time and that tiny-*** woman at the store did it!" (funnily enough I think I lost about 12 pounds at my reception because when I put the dress back on that night there was ZERO trouble)

Love this one of my sister Lauren and Tanya.

I'm ready to head out to our first look!!

Oh my gosh! I love the dresses, and Jackie's suit is gorgeous! You all look wonderful. And yes, I am gushing over photos of a wedding and I don't even know you. :)

Haha gush away! Thank you so much for your kind comments, and I totally get it, I fawned all over strangers' photos for months before our wedding!

I'm so excited that you're sharing the details of your beautiful fairytale wedding here! So much fun reading along and the photos are just magnificent! :lovestruc

Nate and Jackie left her room first, and he was nice enough to help her walk all the way to the Boardwalk courtyard by the Garden Suites where we did our first look. While they were walking, Kim manned our doorway to make sure they were gone before we started down there.

I love this little hallway in the boardwalk, how it is always so sunny and beautiful!

First look…

My face.. LOL

I started to tear up so Jackie pointed and said "Beaver Nuggets!"

Jackie's jacket had two button options, she could button over or use the inside button and have a two button look (also a little more room). Nate was happy about that and took a photo!

Nate!

After the courtyard, we came back into the air conditioning (yay!) and they me to sit on the little red loveseat thingum and it was at this point that I realized I had never tried to sit in my dress! So I just kind of fell backwards and hoped for the best…. I learned how to sit by the time I got to the reception LOL!

I adore this one:

We went outside to talk photos with the Boardwalk sign but there were taxis and such everywhere, so we went to the stairs instead!

Awesome shot of (both of) my sister's tattoos!

We are headed here next…

Oh my god. I know I said this on Facebook, but you two are stunning.

Also, I hope it's not weird if I pinned that photo of the back of your hair as an inspiration photo on Pinterest. It's beautiful!

Thank you! And of course I don't mind, I went through all these boards and all of Pinterest trying to figure out what I wanted so I'm happy to return the favor! Can't wait for your day!!!

So for transportation we had the 6 of us in a lux van, which was really just a normal van as far as I could tell? I didn't care. My parents took another car and Nate and Kim drove (there was room for them in either car though, so they had that option). We also had a van pick up FG Maddy and her parents from POFQ to meet us all at the Grand.

And then Maddy got there! We brought her a Donald because we knew she'd probably not be too keen on all the standing around and waiting and FG duties.

My fam!

Our gals!

Per usual, we were asked to laugh, and it started super fake, and then became super real and just perfect!

My seester! We aren't related at all…
