What's one place you have been to which you would never go back to?

NYC gets a bad rap but it is honestly a nice place to visit. Yrs back in the 70s and 80s it was bad but they cleaned it up tho there is a homeless population that is growing again still not as bad as places I hear about like San Francisco, Oregon etc. Museum of Natural History is area my dad grew up and he played in there as a kid having lived one block over.
I've never had any trouble there. And I flat out don't believe a word a certain TV network utters regarding New York and you shouldn't regarding San Francisco which is also a wonderful place to visit. Unless of course you hate world class dining from many cultures, history, beautiful vistas fun boat rides, museums, natural areas, beaches (beware cold water) and the like.

Or alternatively you can see the best attraction in Nebraska.

I'm not a "certain tv network" and I don't know who you are referring to since every station here including local abc, nbc, cbs all say the same thing about San Francisco. You cannot deny it is filthy with urine/feces/needles, homeless camps on the streets, car widows bashed in . It use to be a nice get away for us for years for a day trip but refuse to go right now until it's cleaned up

I went to cancun at 20 with my friends - had never been to the US or further than Spain . We were amazed by it - felt more American than Mexican to us. It was before the Internet so we did no research - my friends uncle was a travel agent and they had just launched flights from ireland to cancun with the Russian airline Aeroflot. The flight was an experience in it self / cabin fills up with white steam about 15 minutes before landing . Had to stop off in Miami for 2 hours for refuelling - the Russian airline staff couldn’t explain that as we had no visas we were herded into a special room with no aircon and armed guards . We were roasted alive and had never seen guns before 😀We kept forgetting the name of where we were going and I frequently told people at home I was going to a place near Mexico beginning with c 😊. We had a great time

Agree completely. It's the only place I've ever been to that I would never go to again.

On our way to the airport for our flight home, we got pulled over by a cop for speeding. No radar gun, nothing to prove we were speeding. Demanded cash or we were going to jail. Pretty terrifying experience.
Actually forgot we hired out a car - I can’t really stress how innocent and unworldly we were - 6 IRISH girls that had only been to a resort in Spain previously and 1 boy ( friends brother ) . We set off for Xcaret and we were pulled over by the police for nothing . We were really scared as they were armed so we resorted to all speaking Irish - after 15,minutes they got fed up and left us

France gets my vote for cold, unfriendly locals. And, yes, I did my best to use the little French I learned in school, am always polite, wasn’t demanding, and just had enough hostile/ignoring interactions to never want to go back.

Normandy was beautiful though, and the care the French people provide maintaining the cemetery of U.S. fallen forces is incredible, however, and I will always give them oodles of credit for that.

Maybe it's because I'm from New England, so my idea of what constitutes friendly is way lower than most Americans, but I didn't notice any unfriendliness in France (aside from the one homeless man who randomly burnt me with a cigarette while watching the Bastille Day fireworks in front of the Eiffel Tower). I lived in Metz for about 3 months and have spent probably 2 weeks in Paris total.

:confused3I’ve always wondered just what it is people are expecting and not getting, in terms of “friendliness” in France? I’m Canadian and I much prefer strangers to be polite and reserved so I loved it there.:lovestruc Don’t call me Hon and don’t ask how “y’all” are doing when I’m the only one standing here please.

I am curious to hear why.
I spent a few days at a seaside town there. There was nothing unique or interesting about it but the saddest part was that I didn't encounter one person who even remotely looked happy. I didn't have any bad interactions or bad experiences, it's just a place I never need to go to again.

Ensenada, Mexico- was a stop on a cruise. Next time I'll just stay on the ship. With that being said I've enjoyed other parts of Mexico.

Jamaica- My allergies were really bad there and I had a bad experience with a man making lewd comments to me.

I'm surprised to see so many people saying Barcelona. There were so many beautiful things to see, amazing food, etc. when I was there.

Egypt
Dirty filthy place especially Cairo
The food at the hotel was disgusting 🤮
I never felt safe we had an armed guard to and from the airport we went on an excursion and had a guard on the bus who was armed and if we stopped anywhere underneath the bus was checked with mirrors
Never again

I'm a lifelong Massachusetts resident, and I never had the, ahem, lackluster response when I visited England, Scotland, or Spain. Noticeable lack of personality, but c'est la vie.

I will never go back to Clearwater, Florida, because I went there for my honeymoon and it rained the whole week. :D
Yeah really not a good reason right? Neither are a lot of the reasons I have heard during this discussion. (except maybe
the middle east. Anywhere you needed armed protection should be avoided) I have been to New York, Boston, Orlando,
Las Vegas. To discount a location because one time you went there the people didn't seem nice, means you are paying
to much on others and not focusing on yourself and enjoying yourself.

Deadwood, SD

It was my last stop at the end of a recent trip with beautiful scenic drives, going to a mineral spa, swimming in a waterfall, some great hikes and staying at a super cool and relaxing Airbnb. What a terrible disappointment after all the lovely things I did. Crappy parking, smoking everywhere, open containers, one lame casino after another and the top-rated place I went for dinner was just awful. I couldn't even call it a poor man's Las Vegas; it was so much worse.
Deadwood, everything mentioned above. I was there 20 years ago and loved it but as of three weeks ago when I was there it has now changed to the description above.
