Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

And then it was on to just the pictures of Jason and me! I guess this post is mostly going to be a photo bomb since there's not too much explanation. Sorry about that, and I hope I don't seem too egotistical by posting so many photos of us, they just were a large part of what pics were taken that day!

Actually, I could use your help - I think these ones I'm posting are my favorites of the two of us, and I want to pick one to get a big print of to put on the wall. But I can't decide which one! I don't want one where our faces will be huge either, something that will look good in a large size and on the wall. Please tell me what you think!! :goodvibes

These two were cool because everything just seemed to be going our way. The photographer said, let's wait for the wind to blow a little bit so it can blow out your veil - and then as soon as she said it, that's what happened!

This next one I think is hilarious, though obviously not the one I'm going to pick to hang on the wall!

And then we were off to the reception!

BeckyJason680.jpg

Oh my sweet Becky!!! These photos just get better and better!! You both look so happy!!! I love them (and I love you too!!!). Please keep 'em coming!!!!

I vote for the one where Jason is down on one knee and kissing your hand! That one is soooo adorable and beautiful and I think it would look great blown up! (It's the most fairytale-ish too!) ;)

Oh Becky, these pictures are GORGEOUS! I love them and you too.

I -think- my absolute favorite and the one I would choose to put on the wall would be the first one in the veil pictures. I also LOVE the one where he's kneeling down and kissing your hand and you look like a princess. :lovestruc But my vote is for the veil, number 1!

(Are you SURE you don't wanna hang the monster one on the wall?!)

Keep the updates coming! I want to hear about the reception!!!!

Beautiful pics! I too like the one where Jason is kneeling down and kissing your hand...gorgeous!

LOVE all of the pictures!! I can't choose!! haha What if you make a collage!?? :lmao:

I like the two of you by the bench!! Beautiful!!!

Oh, I've gotten behind so quickly! Your pictures are all so gorgeous! I can see why you're having such a difficult time picking just one to hang up! I really love the veil photos, the first one especially. :)

(And even though this was AGES ago - LOL at your cat making his own grand entrance. Too cute.)

I like that one too... but Jason wasn't as crazy about it! Hard to agree on one :rotfl:

Yeah, I think we have it narrowed down to either the veil one or the third to last one where we are standing sideways holding each other. Jason doesn't like anything that looks posed so he doesn't want us looking at the camera. My only concern with the veil is that it's too much brown in the background and will look a bit boring when bigger. I like lots of color!

The Reception! (Part One)

So when we arrived at the reception is was just about ten of six. Perfect timing! Except... I didn't mention this before, but we didn't have limos or anything. We had 12 people in the bridal party (including the bride and groom), so my sister was going to take 5 in her car and my brother was going to take 7 in my mom's mini van. They both had a GPS, and we printed written directions (also for the photographer and my aunt bringing the boys). Anyway, for some reason that I still can't really understand, Sarah really wanted to drive herself. And bring her date along. So her date (a guy that not a single person knew, by the way) had to stand there for the 2 hours we were taking pictures. Plus she was late for the pictures because she took the long way of getting there. Luckily only about five or ten minutes late but I was getting ready to start without her.

So then most of the bridal party (except me and Jason, my sister and my MOH) left the pictures early - around 5 o'clock and headed to the reception while Jason and I finished taking pics. The reception hall was about 15 minutes from there. When we arrive at ten of 6 Sarah still hasn't shown up. Five minutes after six and she's still not there yet - the DJ has already come in and asked if we're ready to make our entrance and we have to say no because a bridesmaid is missing. :sad2: So finally at 6:10 she shows up. I'm not quite sure how it took her over an hour to get there? But in the end she made it and so that's good.

Not to complain or anything but I just felt like she was never around for the wedding. I told you she skipped the bachelorette party, doing hair and nails, and left the rehearsal dinner after 15 minutes. Well I don't know when she disappeared, but about two hours into the reception I looked around and didn't see her anywhere. She didn't even say goodbye! Whatever, I didn't let it bother me, it's just bizarre. But on to the good stuff!

On the table when we first came in we could see the escort cards:

BeckyJason699.jpg

There were a lot more of them previously, obviously. This pic just shows the cards that belong to the bridal party and the people that didn't show up! It was very easy to tell who backed out on us at the last minute this way... I should send them a bill! :rotfl:

BeckyJason698.jpg

The guestbook was also displayed on a table in the entrance hall:

BeckyJason850.jpg

The DJ then announced all of the bridal party and it was time for us to make our grand entrance! They did a cute little bridge thing:

BeckyJason740.jpg

And then we launched right into our first dance - we ended up choosing "She Likes it in the Morning" by Clay Walker. I was a little nervous about dancing for so long with everyone watching us, but after the first chorus the DJ then asked the bridal party to join in too so we weren't alone! I don't know if he always does that or if we just looked awkward lol. And then after another verse he asked anyone that wanted to to join in.

BeckyJason750.jpg

We had a cool sweetheart table set up:

BeckyJason694.jpg

And this was the first time we got to see the cake! We had really left it up to the baker to do whatever he wanted since it was included with our package and we were sure it would come out great no matter what.

So here it is:
BeckyJason689.jpg

And our cake topper up close:

BeckyJason686.jpg

And then they got us some drinks! Even though it was a buffet we had a personal waitress basically that got us whatever we needed.

BeckyJason775.jpg

Next it was time for the speeches. First my MOH went. OMG I love this girl. We are both highly emotional people and she could barely get any words out because she was crying so much. But it was super sincere and heartfelt and it was just a lovely moment.

BeckyJason759.jpg

Then it was the Best Man's turn. He had been planning his speech for quite awhile and it was very good, a nice mixture of humor and sincerity. Poor guy was so nervous his hands was shaking though. And he forgot the "toast" part of the speech. Like, he never told us to raise our glasses or anything so most of the champagne just sat in front of people forgotten. They took it away eventually so I'm not sure if anyone actually drank it because they probably thought they were going to need it at some point! Glad I didn't have to pay extra for it or anything ;)

BeckyJason767.jpg

We also got a chance to go around and see the centerpieces set up. They looked good, though it was really hard not to let my OCD kick in and fix them the way I wanted. I really, really wish I could have set them up ahead of time but it just wasn't an option.

Here are some "centerpieces in action":

To be continued... food update soon! ;)

Ugh, I'm really sorry about your flaky bridesmaid. I know how THAT cookie crumbles! I'm so glad you didn't let it get to you though. :goodvibes

I love how your colors work together and seem seamless throughout the venue. Everything looked SO great. :D And I love your sweetheart table, it's adorable!!

Also... I am STILL in love with your centerpieces. Seriously. If it weren't such a hassle with DFTW, I would TOTALLY be stealing this idea! :lmao: Like really.

I also love the picture of you dancing, and your cake is so pretty!

Keep these updates coming, Missy. You promised me and Joanne a good Martin story!!! :lmao:

Thanks Jackie! I was so happy with the colors and everything, I didn't even see the linens beforehand so I was just trusting that everything would go well!

The cool thing about the centerpieces is that now we have all these random little knick-knacks that we get to keep! Plus, the books that were the bases are storage boxes so we're going to put some stuff in those and use them for storage!

I'm going to update this afternoon... and I think I'll be squeezing the Martin story in! :rotfl:

Time for the food! We had a buffet, although they served DH and me at our table, which was nice. Everyone was served a salad at the table though. It was your average house salad but it was really nice!

BeckyJason820.jpg

There was also plenty of bread and rolls. I think I had maybe one piece at some point.

BeckyJason822.jpg

The food was so excellent! There was a chicken francaise, steak dish, sausage, peppers, and onions, stuffed founder, and two pasta dishes. Here are some food shots:

BeckyJason829.jpg

And the kids' section:

BeckyJason834.jpg

BeckyJason835.jpg

Everything was tasty but I really liked the one pasta dish that I don't have a picture of! It was with eggplant in pesto sauce and it was so good! I wish I had more time to enjoy the food ;)

After dinner it was time for dancing. My little cousins were really into dancing, they were all over that dance floor!

BeckyJason781.jpg

Some random dancing shots:

BeckyJason799.jpg

BeckyJason815.jpg

BeckyJason877.jpg

BeckyJason883.jpg

The DJ also did a nice slow dance where he asked all of the couples to come out. Then slowly he asked groups to leave, like "any couples that aren't married, sit down." Then "any couples that have been married less than one day sit down." Less than five years, ten years, etc. Til just the couple that had been married the longest were left on the dance floor. It turned out to be my dad's boss and his wife - 46 years!

Okay, time for my Martin story! I feel like I've been building up the hype so I hope it's good! :lmao:

Martin had apparently asked my MOH when we would be having the "pen pal/friend" dance :rotfl: So when a song came on that I liked and I wasn't doing anything I asked him if he wanted to dance. He'd been dancing with some of the other girls earlier and he looked like a great dancer - like, ballroom swing type dancing. I love to dance and Jason does not enjoy it, and I love that sort of dancing so I was excited.

Well, that boy has some intense moves! I mean like really swinging me around on the dance floor! I was so out of breath by the end of it! Here are some "action shots":

BeckyJason890.jpg

BeckyJason889.jpg

BeckyJason891.jpg

BeckyJason892.jpg

And then in the middle he's like, "are you ready?" and I'm thinking, "for what?" and then he dips me back! No I was not ready for that!! :rotfl:

BeckyJason893.jpg

But here's the best (worst?) part. While we are dancing (we've kind of cleared the dance floor) the DJ gets on the microphone and says "Let's hear it for the bride and groom!... Oh, wait, that's not the groom." :rotfl2: Awkward but it turns out Jason didn't even hear it! It makes a great joke now ;) It's good that Jason never gets bothered by anything like that!

Ooohhh your food looks so good! Especially the salad--- nice and fresh! :D I think I would have eaten well at your wedding! :lmao:

What was the dance you were doing with your girls? It looks quite cute. :D

I like the couples dancing thing. So sweet!

AND I love the Martin story! He dipped you! :lovestruc That's adorable. And thankfully Jason doesn't get mad about stuff like that--- Chris is SUCH a jealous person, it's really irritating. I really think Martin should marry someone in your family or something and you can keep him around. :rotfl2:

Sweet Becky - Just catching up!! Your reception looks awesome!! The food looks really good and the dancing partners very handsome (both your husband and your 'mistake husband) - lucky girl!!

Gosh, I think that dance was just one of those typical group dances - like the cha cha slide or something. :rotfl:

Yeah, I was really hoping maybe I could set up Martin with my sister... they got along pretty well but I think she's just a little too old for him! (about a ten year age difference). But you never know... ;)

Thank you! Haha, it was quite fun having two excellent dancing partners! :cool1: I had an absolute blast :goodvibes

Mmmm, the food pictures look soooo yummy!!!

Oh my gosh. I love the pictures and story of Martin and you dancing! What fun! That's something that you'll joke about for a looooonnnng time! :rotfl:

Yes, the food was good - I just wish I could have eaten more of it! :rotfl:

The end of the Reception

It seems like I'm nearing the end of my wedding report! We're up to the cake cutting part.

BeckyJason911.jpg

And as is tradition, I fed him a piece of cake. And I definitely forbid him of smashing any in my face! :rotfl: And he was a good boy, mostly... he just dipped his finger in the icing and put it on my nose, which I wasn't really expecting but didn't mind. He was quite disappointed we didn't get a picture of it! There's only this shot of him preparing to get me:

BeckyJason918.jpg

After that we moved into the father/daughter and mother/son dances. I honestly thought that the DJ had forgotten about this because I thought it was supposed to be done before we ate. But he said this was when he was planning to do it all along. So whatever! While everyone else was enjoying the cake we were dancing. Since they had cake hopefully not too many people were actually watching

My dad and I danced to "In My Life," by The Beatles:

BeckyJason941.jpg

He's not really a big dancer, so we were both glad when it was over I think. I definitely would have preferred this toward the beginning of the night because to be completely honest, my dad had a few drinks by this point! :drinking1 It wasn't quite as sentimental as if could have been.

Jason and his mom danced to "Just the Way you Are," by Billy Joel:

BeckyJason942.jpg

As this was going on I realized the bouquet toss would probably be happening soon and we had left the toss bouquet in the car. So I asked my sister to run out and get it when she had a chance. The minute she walks back into the room, the DJ announces the bouquet toss! Phew, just in time.

The only issue here was that I had requested the DJ play It's Raining Men, but he played Girls Just Want to Have Fun instead. Not the end of the world, and he ended up playing It's Raining Men later on anyway!

My girls were ready:
BeckyJason950.jpg

And in the end my sister mowed some people down to snag that bouquet! She is 31 years old and I think she's getting desperate to be married. So she has every right to dive for that bouquet! Yeah! :woohoo:

BeckyJason947.jpg

I didn't quite get the story about the flip flop. I think she threw her shoes off right before the toss or something.

After a little more dancing they brought out the candy buffet! This was such a big hit. Honestly, some people were skeptical when I told them my plan to do this and everyone loved it. If you're considering it, definitely do it! We did end up with a lot of extra, but only of certain stuff, lol. It might not work for smaller weddings, but even though it's becoming more common this is what everyone was talking about. Here's some shots:

BeckyJason958.jpg

BeckyJason959.jpg

BeckyJason960.jpg

BeckyJason962.jpg

BeckyJason963.jpg

BeckyJason964.jpg

I didn't get any candy at the time, so I was a little bummed that when we got the leftovers there weren't any peppermint patties left! But Jason and I have been eating blue gummy bears for weeks ;)

Here's a look at our gift table:

BeckyJason965.jpg

And the rings in the flowers shot:

BeckyJason968.jpg

And, because I know you want them... more Martin pictures! :lmao:

BeckyJason974.jpg

Here he is spinning my MOH around on the dance floor as well:

BeckyJason984.jpg

And then it was time for the last dance of the night. Jason and I were the only ones dancing, but that was okay. I'd had a few drinks and I was happy and in love!! I didn't need anybody else. We had picked Save the Last Dance for Me as the last song, by Michael Buble.

BeckyJason987.jpg

BeckyJason1004.jpg

And then the night was over. So my wedding report is over. But I wasn't too sad, because the next morning we would be on our way to Disney World!!

So my next update will be Day 1 of my honeymoon TR :goodvibes

Ahhhhhh!!!!! So awesome, it was such a beautiful day! Everything turned out great in your pics. I can't wait to see your honeymoon TR :)

Ooohhh I really did love this update though, Mrs.! :lovestruc

*I am SO glad Jason didn't push the cake in your face! I think it's cute, but my grammy went into a 10 minute tirade about that once, so now I've been turned off of it! :lmao:

*I think the parent dances are awkward. I don't think there's a way around it, you know? But they looked sweet, regardless.

*That picture of your sister is KIND OF amazing!!! I think I know who she should marry... :rolleyes1

And YUM candy buffet! Adorable! And you got the coach card basket--- I LOVE that thing!

What a LOVELY picture of you at the end. Is there a young gentleman next to you too? If so, I certainly did NOT notice. Nope, not at all.

While I am sorry your wedding day is all over, I am SO looking forward to your WDW trip report!!!!
