Honeymoon TR! Day 1
We were up super early this morning. We went to bed probably around 12:30 after all the wedding festivities died down. And to be honest, I woke up at 4:30 and could not go back to sleep because I was so excited about Disney World!
We left the hotel around 6:30 am.
Our flight left at 9, it was uneventful and I slept for about an hour. We arrived at the airport, got our luggage, and were on the Magical Express by noon!
Before you know it we're at our resort, Port Orleans Riverside:
We checked in and even though we were early, our room was ready. They gave us Happily Ever After buttons when we checked in, and the CM also gave us I'm Celebrating buttons. He asked when we were married and when we said yesterday he gave us Anniversary buttons too to celebrate our 1 day anniversary.
No just Married Buttons though, good thing I got them on ebay! We went to the room to put our stuff down. It was nice, I don't think this one had been refurbished yet, but the location was good.
We were starving at this point, so we decided to take the boat over to Downtown Disney. Our goal was the Earl of Sandwich!
We got some amazing sandwiches. If you're interested in pics and reviews of all the food my
dining review is here!
We also did some shopping. I managed to drop almost $100 in vinylmations at D-Street
We also got a few other things. We got a print of a painting by Larry Dotson of Wishes over the castle. What was especially cool was that he was there to sign it, and even wrote Congratulations on your marriage. So that's a really neat souvenir. Got a few other little things as well, such as a Nerds Rock backpack - this was great for carrying everything I needed during a day at the parks! Then it was back to the room for a much needed nap!
For dinner we had a reservation at Narcoossee's, so we had to travel to the Grand Floridian. It took way longer to get there than I expected. It took an hour and forty-five minutes. Luckily I left enough time but I had definitely thought we would be early rather than a few minutes late. On the bus on the way there I sat next to the most talkative and friendly 7 year old I had ever met! She was very cute, telling me all about Disney World and what rides I should go on. I just pretended like I didn't know anything and let her me the expert.
Luckily we made it just in time for our reservation. I was hoping to spend more time just walking around the GF though. The lobby is stunning:
Dinner also took awhile, but it was totally worth the wait. Everything was delicious. I had the whole Maine lobster and it was incredible, as was the fruit tart I had for dessert.
We got to see the water pageant from the windows:
Though the funny thing was that we were watching it from behind! So everything was backwards, which was particularly noticeable with the American flags. It was nice to see though, as I'd never seen it before. And then of course in the middle of our main course we got to see Wishes!
Yeah, I teared up a little at this point. I was just happy and glad to be in Disney World!
We had a decent view right from our table. We weren't right near the window, but that turned out to be a good thing as some of the people who were directly against the windows had their views blocked by people standing on the balcony outside. Since we were a little further back we had a better angle. Here's our table:
Getting back to the hotel was a long trip as well. When we finally returned we were exhausted and went to sleep immediately. Had to rest up for our first day in the Magic Kingdom!
