For those of you who have done the flag/banner thing before, did any of you order one custom made from somewhere? I would love to do something with our names on it, something unique. Or did you just gets sports flags, stuff from hometowns?

Jeff is still working on the Zazzle image. He's a perfectionist and won't put something up for purchase unless it's perfect. He'll have time this week (he's away on business to Phoenix) to work on it.

Please tell Jeff "Thank You" when he gets home.:goodvibes
I just don't want to miss out on buying "OUR" crossing shirt to wear on crossing day. Thank you for answering so quickly. I was being to think that I missed something somewhere.:scared1:

Hi All,
How is everyone on this fine Sunday? Wow, talk about a BEAUTIFUL day! After the strangest, hottest week, we had perfect weather for the weekend. How often does THAT happen?
I'm checking in to let you know that I have the general template created for the "program." I wanted to run some thoughts by all of you and also get some ideas to create the most useful document for everyone!
Here are my thoughts:
-Include the list of "who is going," "where we are from" and "where we are staying"
-Include a 20-24 hr daily schedule documenting everything "we" have planned as well as space for everyone to write in what they want to do for the day.
-Include a tutor schedule that only has each of us (who volunteer to tutor a topic) tutoring for one hour during the entire trip.

My Questions:
1. What do you think so far?
2. What else do you think we need?
3. There are a lot of runners, should we schedule a meeting time each day on deck 4 for those who want to run together?
4. I have all of the activities from the website, but are there others you want to do?
5. I remember reading something about a "tag" game with a Mickey Mouse Magnet "tagged" on peoples' doors--should we do that? If so, how does it work?

Feel free to answer any or all of ?'s 1-5...any help is most appreciated!

Lynne, so Jealous!!! I hope you have a great time jumping (cruising) the "pond" to our side of the globe :)

I hope everyone has a great week!
~Melissa

P.S. Sherri, I am so sorry to hear about your dad...I have not stopped thinking of you and was concerned for the answer which is why I didn't ask how you were. I hope you are finding peace in this tough time and my prayers and thoughts are with you!
P.P.S I like the idea of us linking our dinners together as a group. I, too, have late dining and a 12yo DD, so keeping her with other girls her age so that they can run off after dinner will make us ALL happy :thumbsup2

Ours was actually a special flag that DH had recieved at work but others had them specially made.

I will be happy to bring the magnet - what we did in 2008 is a magnet of the logo. You put your name on it and place it on another's door ASAP. I believe we actually had 2 going around but I am not 100% positive. Do you want 1 magnet or 2?

Thanks for doing this!

You are so right. It seems like almost yesterday that I was on the phone for a hour and some waiting for a DCL rep to make my reservation. I think we will be making our final payment on sat. DW gets paid on Tuesday and I get paid Friday. So I need to tell a funny story and I don't think it involves a Diser because I think everyone here knows I work at LAX for Southwest. So I had to pull up the Jetway from a flight from Denver about 10:30 last night. There was this passenger I noticed and she had a nice DVC bag. So I asked her were she got it. She asked me if I was a DVC member. She never said were she got it, but our talks got to DCL. She asked if I had been before. I told her I had been on 6 with three more booked. The then asked which sailings I am going on. I told her about the B2B and then this cruise. She said what a small world I too am going on the Panama Canal trip as well. So there is that story. She is right. It did make it seem like the song says, it is a small world after all

Melissa, thanks so much for your wishes. things have calmed down now with the car, the funeral, my having health issues, and it's hitting me like a lead balloon. i just saw how sick he was at the end and am glad for him it was quick, before he had pain. but i'm just heartbroken. we were so close. sigh. but thank you.

meanwhile, we're doing late dinner and i'd love to meet everyone. I'll talk to DH about linking but i suspect hes too into his creature comforts and would like to know he has his table and a favorite seat at it (whereever it is). how does that work? are we just near each other or what? but we're heading closer to 60 and our youngest is in his 3rd year of college, so we're a bit older than those with kids on the cruise anyway. i love the program idea. i'd love to meet you all and have people to do stuff with and all, people of all ages!

has anyone figured out yet the weather chances for the different places? and at sea?

thanks,

Sherri

Sherri. For the Wrather it can be hit or miss in FL and the Bahamas in Jan. As we go south it will wonderful. I am not sure about other places, but I would expect it to be cold from Cabo on up to here in L.A.

That is what I am expecting Alan.

Brrrr, it was cold from Cabo on the May repo wasn't it? What a shock.

Can you add Jeff and I? I realized we never submitted ourselves for the SM!

In '-05, Cabo itself was fine, but the water was FREEZING! We did the kayak tour to los Arcos and in the boat was fine, getting out was a shock. We had friends who went diving and they wished they had their dry suits - and they're from Wyoming!

Jeff is safely in Phoenix dealing with the time change. He tells me he should have a lot of the enhancements to the website done this week. Before he puts the t-shirts up on Zazzle he wants to order one to make sure it prints ok. He thinks he'll do that this week. You never really know how clean an image is until you print it on something!

130 days to go! Can you believe it?! I bet the Plat and Concerige rooms are super excited for 10 days from now. I was just at one of the best State Fairs in the country (Minnesota State Fair of course) and picked up another travel board for cribage. So maybe one of the days if anyone is interested in learning we could setup a place/time to do some teaching. My family has taught 3 girlfriends so far with pretty good results! I hope you all are having a terrific Sunday.

By the way does anyone here ever go in the chat room?

Would love to learn how to play so I will keep my eyes out for details.

Chat room - I used to chat a lot when I first began on the DIS but it was pretty 'cliquey' back then so I gave it up. It would be fun if we could find a place/time for just our group to chatter away.

Do you have the Disney Visa by chance? I'll be paying on the 3rd to make sure it goes through by the 8th. Gotta stretch out the 6 months no interest but don't want to miss early booking. Thank goodness I'm working from home that week so I can sleep in a little and work in my PJs after staying up until 1am. :surfweb: If I'm feeling so giddy I can't sleep, I'll try to post excursion times for you all when I'm finished. I haven't booked any excursions on-line in about 3 years so I don't know how hard/easy it will be to see time for all excursions.

I certainly hope that I am in bed fast asleep by 1:00AM - and I think I am going to drive into work to do it as well. It has never taken me more than 15 or 20 minutes to get everything taken care of. Either than or maybe I will work an afternoon shift that day so I am just here. We shall see.

Sherri - we must be close to the same age as our youngest is a junior this year in college as well. We would love to sit with you if you choose to do that.

Gee, I was thinking about snorkeling in Cabo - do I not want to do that??

Happy Monday everyone. The last 'unoffical' week of summer in Michigan as it is a state law that school can not start until the day after Labor Day. And, for that last week - it is going to be true, hot, humid weather. I am so looking forward to the fall weather.

Take care and have a great day!!!

Were you on the '08 one? I know they cancelled all the water sport excursions etc that day. I think it was windy away from the bay.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Interlibrary loan loves me  I spent the weekend perusing all available guidebooks on central America, and finally found one worth buying.

Panama Canal By Cruise Ship: The Complete Guide To Cruising The Panama Canal [Paperback] byAnne Vipond

http://www.amazon.com/Panama-Canal-Cruise-Ship-Complete/dp/0980957311/ref=pd_sim_b_1

I liked it because - it had history as well as tourism information - an adequate map was included - AND it covered all the ports we'll be visiting.

I have this book as well. I was disappointed with some of the ports we are going to's description like Manzanillo, but overall I agree it was worth buying.

I have the book and it was quite helpful before our last PC cruise. I might have got rid of it now though.

Our kids have always been old enough to look after themselves and they ALWAYS show up for supper but I have a friend who is cruising in Septemer. Her kids are 4, 6 and 8. She has asked me about meals in the kids clubs. If your kids are there over lunch or supper, do they get them something to eat or do you have to go and spring them? I thought maybe they would offer snacks or pizza or something easy. Can any one wise me up?
