nah I would pack up the day before.:thumbsup2 To make it more interesting give your self only an hour and what you pack is what you get to wear.

Might make the Barcelona non clothing person look lame :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think we will all seem very overdressed compared to him :rotfl2:

Dennis went for his eye checkup and to the dentist to get the 4 temp crowns off and permanent ones put on today. He is good as new!! :thumbsup2 We still have to use eyedrops 3x a day for a couple of weeks, but are happy it is all over and well!! :cool1: We had to go buy sunglasses for him since his are prescription and HE DOES NOT WEAR GLASSES ANYMORE!! :dance3: Now to pack tomorrow and we will be on our way to Spokane, WA Sunday morning. Driving west to get east.

That is wonderful news! It must be very cool for him not to have to wear his glasses to see clearly!

That's a relief. I have a couple of crowns and after awhile you forget which ones are the real teeth and which ones are the crowns. Very cool about the glasses. I'll bet Dennis is amazed at how much he can see now.

I have "fake" tooth and can easily tell which one it is because no matter what, its always smooth feeling compared to the others in my mouth :rotfl2:

You've brought back memories of our Big One. Our houses almost touch each other here. During the EQ the noise, not the shaking was the most scary. The houses hitting each other as they swayed, the glass breaking in the houses and the telephone poles creaking as they bent all made so much noise. val

Its definitely the noise thats the worst.

Not sure if I said but the news is saying its the largest earthquake to ever hit a modern, developed city. I did wonder why we seem to have an increase in "experts" from around the world.

We had a 4.6 wake up this morning at 6.03am. They are still saying we could get a few more jolts in the 5+ range! Glad I'm leaving tomorrow!

I think that is a wise policy for travel such vast distances. My sister and her husband were on their honeymoon in Europe 1980 when my spouse died. There was nothing they could do so they did not know until they got home.

Trashy magazines can be a guilty pleasure especially if you don't take them too seriously

I totally agree with you on how you dealt with your loss and not telling your sister - they couldn't have done anything to make it better and they could grieve when they returned home.

Regarding the trashy magazines - I have a few for the magazine swap ;)

Thank you for that Paula. You are the first one I have ever seen voice my sentiments exactly. I'm not coming home, no matter what. That is why I went to visit my 94 year old Dad last weekend. I have explained to all my friends and family, do not tell me any bad news while I'm away. The only thing I can do is cry my eyes out. I can do that when I get back; don't need a head start...:goodvibes:goodvibes

Totally agree! I can't think of a single thing I would come home for.

A couple of deer moved into the backyard next door this week. Well one of them pissed off my surfeit of skunks. The smell has come through my storm windows as if they were made of tissue.:eek:

Bambi is no match for Flower.

Thats so funny and so cool at the same time (except for the smell obviously!)

The problem with the wifi at the Pratik is probably due to the router. We are on the 4th floor and the computer is on the first floor. They have a lovely terrace on the first floor and I can mostly connect there, so email will have to be a daylight activity. Will post more later today. Questions welcomed.

Probably just not enough range on their wireless device to get through that many floors. The terrace sounds like the place to be there - might see a few of you there later in the week then (Mum has the netbook and she doesn't arrive until Wednesday evening) ;)

Ok, I've still got 10 pages to go but I have my "list" of stuff to do which must take priority... less than 24 hours until we leave!

Hope to be in the chat room later though (it opens in about an hour).

With all the buzz about shapewear, I broke down and tried a cami type one the other day. :scared1: I thought I was going to have to get the sales girl to rescue me.

Guess I should have read this book first: :rotfl:

Caution- link leads to a video!

Thank you for sharing that, now I don't feel so bad. I tried on a cami type yesterday too - had the same thought. Got them on ok but trying to take them off was a real bear. Got them partly over my head and then couldn't get them to move Only the thought of the how I would never live it down if they had to call the fire department because I couldn't breath made me continue to fight and finally it popped off like a rocket. Could have hurt someone if there had been two of us in the room. I stumbled out of the dressing room, my hair looking like I had been caught in a wind storm, and when the sales clerk asked if I wanted her to ring it up for me I just gave a weak smile and said "no thank you." Val

I actually managed to do a couple of cruise things today! Woo Hoo!!

- legs waxed
- manicure & pedicure
- purchased necessary items at Nordstrom (do you know they sell spanx for men??)
- bought euros
- retrieved dress from tailor
- laminated some items to be door magnets
- shirts to drycleaners to be cleaned and pressed

Now to work more on packing! I'd feel a lot better if I didn't have so much to do for work before I head out,

Well I was thinking about if anything bad happened on our trips.

I took my step son to Disney. Glenn ( my hubby) stayed home to look after the dogs.

I would email him ever couple of days. Always asking how the girls were doing?

Near the end of the trip I got no answer. I just thought he was busy.

We got off the plane and I could tell something was wrong.

One of our dogs went lame. She had bone cancer in her hip. So she went to rainbow bridge while we were gone.

She was a very big dog over 100 pounds. We orginally thought she was getting arthritis.

We took Cleo in when Glenn's mom passed away. We were her 3rd home. So it was very sad because she was our connection to Glenn's mom.

So my hubby knows not to ruin vacations either. Nothing we could have done. :(

On our first cruise in Dec 2005, that we took my mom and brother on, as we were in the limo van heading to the airport from the port, my brother got a message that my mom's dog had passed away while we were gone. So we've been in that situation too.

I remember someone saying something about kids dropping by her cabin to get a birthday treat from her daughter or son. I need to mark that on my list and I cannot remember. I feel, sometimes, I am spinning out of control.

Jason and Erik said that they check you into the ship at the hotel and you can walk on the ship once you get to the port so no paperwork at the port or waiting with your usual number. Now that is pretty exciting.:cool1:

I was also trying to remember who that was, when and what room number.

On the hotel checkin, I was wondering if they used DCL transfers, or if it was part of their Adventures by Disney add-on. We're staying at Le Meridien Barcelona which is a DCL hotel, and I was wondering if we were going to be able to check in right there at the hotel. Come to think of it, I wonder if there's any way to check my luggage in for the ship at the hotel??

My poor dd. We can't figure out what her current allergy trigger is and she's been through 6 epi pens this week and 3 hospital visits. The pediatrician feels hopeful she will be recovered enough to fly safely on Wednesday. We thank god for steroids and epinephrine :)

Hugs to your DD and hopes you get it sorted before the trip starts. Never fun.

Does anyone know the cabin number for Bearfan? They are in my FE group.
Thank you, :)

Brenda

It's cabin number 5640

connie

I was wondering this too. Thanks!

Let's hope Accuweather is better at forecasting Spain :confused3

Walt :cool1:

Agreed. Definitely like this forecast better!

OMG I cannot stop laughing!!!! I am ready to pee my pants!!! :lmao: I remember trying on a dress and it went on okay but when I tried to get it off, I kept squirming around and was making noise and kept thinking someone was going to come in and I was going to just die of embarrassment. :lmao::rotfl:

Tim,

I think you are set based on last time we chatted - you are in for 1 at wine tasting and 1 at beer tasting.

I am sending the final stateroom list to DCL first thing Monday morning so they can do the event tickets.

Thanks.

And thanks for all of your hard work! :)

Tim

That makes perfect sense to me BUT DCL told me I did need to print out the contract and payment authorization page and bring them with me, completed. They are an exact copy of what is in our book. When I told them that she (in her mother superior voice) told me I had to print them out and bring them or they wouldn't mark my documents as completed, even though it sayscompleted on-line. I think you get a bad notation on your Disney permanent records. val

It seems they want them filled out online, but then you won't need to fill out the ones in the book.

It is girl scout cookie time! My twin neices that are Beccas age are selling cookies if anyone wants a box or 12... LOL

If there is interest I will post a link to the web site for ordering!

Sorry to anyone outside of the US - but I don't think that cookies can go international! But, if anyone is interested, let me know and I will ask my SIL!

Send it to me...pm I think. We are always looking for GS cookies. We were GS leaders for 5 years, but now have no little girls to buy from.

I agree that there really is nothing they could do. It's not on the same level as your event, but we were on our last full day of a week long vacation at WDW when I was woken up to a phone call. It was my sister calling me to tell me that my brother-in-laws auto repair business was on fire. I understand why they contacted us but in the end we spent a lot of time in the morning on the phone and the last day was a downer (even more so than the usual last day doldrums). Even though we had 7 great days before that, it put a damper on the vacation. I even had a hard time scrapbooking that vacation as it always reminds me of that event.

One trip back in 2005 we had Dad looking after our dogs, he had a heart attack, my brother rang to say he was fine but had to take time off work to sort it out. My dogs ended up with a friend on her farm in the barn in sub-zero temperatures! :confused3 It was only a few days before we were due to come home but it put a real damper on the trip.

This time, professional housesitter and Dad's pets (Mum and Dad are now separated) can go into a kennel if anything happens.

We had a terrific time in Amsterdam, visiting the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt´s House, and taking a canal boat cruise.

Bicycles are everywhere.

Love the bike photo! I wish more cities would do this!

We took the 24 bus from Placa Catalunya to Parc Guell today. This was suggested in tripadvisor. Glad that we did it this way. The bus let us off right in front of the park entrance. The HOHO drops people off at the bottom of the hill and it is a long, steep walk up. The park is beautiful and a "must see" if you have the time. We spent 3 pleasant hours walking around.

There are several good tapas places near the Pratik. Our favorite is Cuidad Condal, right across the street. Breakfast for 2 is under 10 euros. We've had lunch and dinner there too. The menu is in English and the staff super helpful. I recommend it highly. Taller de Tapas is also nearby, about 1 block away. Also very good.

The Pratik has a lovely terrace off the first floor where wifi connection is strong. It may be a very good place to meet for the fountains. The lobby is very small and the staff would probably not be too happy with a crowd of noisy disers packing the lobby.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Barcelona is great. Walking the streets feel safe. Don't stress about blending in. Every kind of dress is seen. If you are carrying a camera or checking out a map - you are a tourist no matter what you are wearing. That's OK. They like tourist.

Thanks for the great info!

I just checked in to the Disney Magic online - I guess thats official then. Does anyone know if we still need to fill all the documents in the book if we have done it online. Thanks.

Nope, I don't think so.

I'm only up to page 185. Not that it's going to change anything, but for the people on the ship this week, who is the CD? Please please please tell me it's not Peter. :scared1:

I think its Brent.

It says you are in the room with me.

Sent you an email - try http://host7150.123flashchat.com/disboards/
