I just spoke with her new family...not working well with thier other dog and so she may be returned tomorrow. It will be whatever was ment to be....I feel bad for the family as they just adore her!

Maybe just a little more time is needed, it could be a slow process and still work out. It could be so stressful for the little adoptee. I know from when I fostered a couple of kitties...needless to say the month of working with them got blown out of the water in a matter of a few days...I took them back, 1 came around real quick, the other is still taking time 2 years later. But, if there's a bug in the house he lets me know.

I know what you mean..I feel for the family. We shall see tomorrow what they decide.

Well My Bama boys won again. I so want to see them play on the big screen on the Wonder. 2 weeks from tomorow I have a 2 week vacation. I so can't wait. 4 nights at Kidani, and then 7 night on Carnival Dream with some very dear friends!

My Buckeyes won again as well. Looks like a big night when we leave Aruba. One week from tomorrow I leave for 3 nights at Old Key West, 7 nights on the Wonder, and 6 more nights back at Old Key West.

Hope it works out, I know it took a while for our cat and dog to get along, but once they accepted each other they became inseparable, even taking walks and naps together. You are right, though, it will be whatever was meant to be.

Hit a couple really hard showers yesterday, but today the sun is out and glorious day. DH is under the weather so happy to stay in watching tv whilst I go out and about with my cousins.

Stopped at the Disney outlet at St. Augustine prime outlets. Bought a baby outfit for a friend's new grandbaby, and a new fleece coat (smaller size) at half price to replace the one I've shrunk out of that I bought in California in 2006.

Tomorrow, on the road again. Happy Day all!

Hello!
My family will be flying into Orlando in a few weeks (both of our DS have a fall break from college). We are renting a car and then driving up the FL coast and staying one night in St Augustine and then move on to Disney's HHI (DVC) for a couple of nights. The flights to Savannah, closest to HHI were terribly high. I found a good rate to MCO so we're going to actually SEE Florida for once. My view of FL has mostly been Orlando and Port Canaveral which isn't a bad thing but I think there might be more to see!
Anyways, I saw you mentioned a Disney outlet in St. Augustine? Where is it and what kind of things do they have? I'm not familiar with any Disney outlets. Also, do you have any tips of things to do in the area?

Thanks for the info! And see you soon on our cruise!

We just got back last night from the Trans-Atlantic Cruise on the Magic. It was wonderful. The DISboard members made it especially wonderful. Thanks to all of them.
For those of you who have been on past PC crossing, Noel and John Birkner say hello.
One activity we did that I found especially fun was a postcard exchange. Those interested exchanged postcards from their own town with a brief note. It was great fun to get back to your room and find mail. It was not a lot of work, expense or room taken in our suitcases. Some of the cards had local recipes, that was really fun for me. If someone has already started to organize this activity we would like to know if it is to late to join in. If not, and others are interested, I would be happy to organize and distribute the list.
Speaking of suitcases brings to mind one poor soul on the last night of the trip that we met in the hall at 2:00 a.m. She had 4 in her category 6 cabin and 16 suitcases plus carryons. They had been on back to back cruises but still, 16 cases to deal with- oh my! I wondered where she found room for them all in the stateroom. Made my struggle with 4 seem easy.
We were very lucky to have a generous and clever DIS-board member who was in a category 3 room offer to host a Champagne Girls meeting. Many of us brought bottles of champagne to the pary and all donned tiars and pink boas. Are any of the Champagne Girls on this cruise and planning a repeat?
Promise not to go on and on about the trip but still feeling the pixie dust this morning.
Val

Anybody else losing sleep because you are so excited that this cruise is now in the double digits away? :cool1: I have tried to stay away from this board because it makes me too excited to sleep at night - I haven't decided if that is a good thing or a bad thing . . .

The date we can start booking excursions is Oct. 23, still need to sit down with the family to choose what is best for all of us. My youngest dd (who will have just turned 7 before the cruise) has said she will do the zip line in PV but she is pretty tiny so I'll have to call to find out if it is even possible. She is normally a big chicken so for her to watch the video and say she'll go is a big step.

Manzanillo does seem rather boring. I refuse to go to a resort when we have already paid to be on the ship doing the same type of things (swimming/eating/drinking)? I have read that there is a turtle farm not that far away so I might look into that for our family. My parents have spent a lot of time in Malaki (sp?) which is about 30 min away and they say there isn't much to do in the area other than golf.

Anyway, just checking in to say hi. As this is our first DCL cruise I think we might be too overwhelmed to attend any of the events you all are planning. FE sounds so much fun but I think I will save it for our next cruise when we have a better idea of what to expect. I am considering ordering the canal certificates and the lanyards though - would that be frowned upon if I'm not planning much else? We are normally pretty shy but once we meet some of you in person we might crash some parties :rotfl:.

Val that is a neat idea with the post cards. At bridal shower some years ago they did that but with brightly colored cards.

Sounds like a lot of fun and I do not believe I have seen it organized here yet.

LOVE the postcard idea, keep us posted on how to signup. And - 16 cases? :scared1: oh my word. Super glad you had a grand time.

My sleeplessness doesn't generally begin until about a month out, and I can have dreams/nightmares too. Since this is #12 with DCL, I should get over it already but not yet. You all participate in the things you would like to and then just wing it for the rest. That is the beauty of a DIS group.

Well, I was true to my word - I got some items packed up and the list pretty much finalized. Of course it will all need taken out and repacked when the time comes but seemed like a better idea than packing away to sort though again come packing time in December.

Hope everyone is having a good day - sunny here but I think there was frost on the pumpkin this morning.

Take care all!

We are at the BWV after arriving on the Magic TA cruise yesterday. It was truly a fantastic experience. The service etc were wonderful and the weather was amazing, which of course helps with the overall memories. We have booked the same cruise for next year. We just loved all the sea days. We did almost nothing the whole 2 weeks. Bliss!

Now I can get into serious planning mode for this one. I haven't really looked at excursions or anything, but do know how disappointed many are with the long travel times in Costa Rica. I was so looking forward to seeing some of the country but don't want to spend most of the day on a bus.

Can anyone help with whale watching in Cabo? Did I see there are vacancies on a catamaran? I worry about being seasick on a small boat. Are catamarans better for that?

Thanks all. I need to read all the info and website to get up to speed. I have also not been too well so couldn't concentrate on 2 big vacations at the same time!

Love the post card exchange. Would love to be a part of it.
We brought the Magic over to Europe in April and did the BTB Med. and I know what you mean that the Disboard members were great We had so many activities that we really had little time to do regular Disney stuff.

Did Clayton come back on the Magic?

Postcard exchange sounds fun.

Champagne Girls - are you not automatically a champagne girl if you have already attended a meeting? If that is the case you, I and Granmaz are all Champagne Girls (we had a meet on our 9/12/09 cruise which had the Palo Somelier giving us a talk on champagne. It was great fun).

IMHO, its your cruise and you take as much or as little away from this group as you would like (or think you can handle).

If you want to participate in the FE, but are not sure, there is a group organizing dry wipe boards as a FE gift. Several people are clubbing together to buy a larger gift for the cabins and there was talk about perhaps having a couple more participants as we have lost a couple through drop out. PM Glindamood if interested.

Please feel free to jump into the conversations at any time. We don't bite:rotfl:

Welcome back. Catarmarans are generally more stable than a small boat, but the last time I was in Cabo and went on a catamaran, I was sick. OK, I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so that may have been the issue (and I couldn't take any meds). In fact, I think it might have been with the same company that is being organized here :lmao:

Not sure about any of the other Costa Rica excursions, but on the Volcano one, they do talk about a 2.75 hour to the volcano trip. However, if you look at it, that includes a "comfort stop" at a butterfly farm/ rest area. I saw this butterfly farm on a promo video, it looks amazing. The trip back is 45 minutes to Puntarenas (although Disney's description is weirdly written, it's probably more than that). There's a stop on the way there to Sarichi.
Based on this I would guess travel time is actually far more reasonable than what it looks like initally. The volacano tour is suppose to be 8.5 to 9 hours. I would guess 2.5 hours total is travel time. (Maybe 3)

Love the postcard exchange idea. Would like to join up if there is a group.

Feel free to talk about your TA experience. We are considering doing it next year and are interested in hearing all about the trip.

I like this idea! I think enough people feel the same..... so Val it's time to organize us!!! :dance3: THANKS for volunteering! :rotfl:

I REALLY like the idea of the postcard picture of your hometown or area and then to have a favorite local recipe on the back. I love to cook and try to buy local cookbooks as my souvenirs when we travel. This would be heaven for me to have a cooking memory from my new DIS friends from all over the US and world.

See you real soon! Barb

Thanks for the catamaran info and the Costa Rica info. I am having a few learning issues with multiple quoting and deleting bits of others' posts on my iPad, so am giving up on that for now!!!!

Yes, Champagne Girls was fun. I didn't join in this time though I head they had a great time. Once a Champagne Girl, always a Champagne Girl!!!
