Moonlight Magic 2019?

Because it would likely bleed into when they want it back up by pre Star Wars. It's January at Disneyland, which is known as refurb season. They are fully replacing the roof of the castle which incurred a lot of damage from the 60th decorations.

So now they need it finished Pre Star Wars land? Why? And I am not saying the refurb of castle doesn’t need to be done I just think they could have put it off a couple weeks which IMO would affect nothing. Or make the one and only date for MM when the castle is done with refurbishment I am fine all the regular refurbs that happen every year. Not a problem. But Disneyland without its castle is not as magic. Not good for attracting future buyers which is part of the reasoning for the MM events.

Theme parks does not schedule around group bookings. Group bookings need to schedule around park scheduled closings. This event was announced by DVC what, in mid to late November or maybe it was early December? They needed to wait for another date if they wanted the castle to not be under refurb. For me though it's not that big of a deal - refurbs go on all the time and you're going to hit something being closed.

So on something like MM Disney and DVC shouldn’t communicate to come up with a good date for the event. Like I have said above I am fine with the normal refurbs at that time but for potential new DVC buyers the walk down Main Street won’t be the same. Don’t underestimate what that walk does to people. It’s the original pixie dust.

I don't know when the Castle refurb was announced but I'd guess that it would have been known prior to DVC announcing this date. This wasn't a months in advance thing and really up to DVC whether they cared if they booked the Moonlight Magic during the castle refurb or not.

Yes. And it wouldn’t matter to a future buyer attending the event if it was Disney or DVC who dropped the ball. Same result. Less pixie dust might equal less potential future buyers.

Very few future buyers at this event. All direct buyers and their guests. This is not a sales event, this is a member appreciation event. Refurbs happen all the time. It really isn’t a big deal.

ETA very few guests are allowed with the DVC member.

Few things. First the guest DVC members bring could be potential buyers. From my understanding this was part of the reasoning for MM. Meaning we say it’s a owner appreciation event and get the added benefit of interesting future potential buyers( DVC guests at event). Second how would you know how many of the guest of DVC members could be potential buyers? And third I would say the castle the end of Main Street disappearing is a much bigger deal to the feel of a DL event or trip than Splash Mountain not being available. Not the same at all.

Honestly. The castle being under refurb is not going to make or break DVC. They are selling like crazy. And members are limited to the number on the6or reservation or I think 4 extra guests, whichever is bigger this time. I just don't see your logic of, "oh I want to buy a timeshare but how dare they fix up the castle so I won't buy." Have you been to a MM? They are most certainly not sales events.

Never said it would make or break DVC. Lol. Never said it was a sales event. Yes I have been to MM. I would have planned the one and only owners appreciation night around the castle refurb because nothing affects the feel of DL or DW than the castle being down for refurb. The two castles are very important to first time visitors and yes the guests of DVC could be first timers. Thousands of DVC members got tickets for this event. Take that number and multiply it by the average amount of guest that will be in attendance and you get a lot of people. Some of which might be impressed enough to actually buy DVC. Anyone else want to say that the castle missing at the end of Main Street have no effect on atmosphere like you are saying? Plus as a DVC owner myself being on Main Street and looking at the castle means something to me. It’s the centerpiece.

I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos of last year’s MM at MK. From what i understand, it runs from 9-midnight, with DVC ticket holders getting in 6 or after and regular day ticket holders escorted out at 8. The free food (or vouchers) starts at 9 but the meet and greets can start earlier than 9 and, unlike MNNSHP, May or may not be the same or most of the same from last year. Like MNSSHP, I’m not interested in waiting in line more than 30 minutes and can push some of my character meeting back to the last half of MM. if Oogie Boogie is a character again this year, I’d like to meet him first and would be ready to get in line as early as 7:30 to make sure that I’d be done around 9. I probably won’t ride any rides during the party, as I’ll arrive around 4 to do rides for 3-4 hours. I do want to get a decent spot for the fireworks but last year, that didn’t seem to be a problem on the you tube videos. Other than Oogie Boogie, I’ll probably try to do 3-4 other character meets, with 1-2 of them after fireworks (assuming that characters stay until midnight). I have no idea if there are any magic shots associated with Moonliight magic but if there are, I’d do a couple of them. All this is assuming that I get a reservation next Wednesday.

I don't think the food voucher is being given out this year.

The info on the main site never said voucher last year. No one knew about it till the emails that come about a week GeForce the actual event.
Ours did say a meal was included for the summer one at Epcot. It was like enjoy dinner and snacks or something like that. The wording in the site was different this year.

Yes, that will change to a link to reserve when the booking window opens.

I have decided that I can’t make early Feb MM event work. I booked the one night of Feb 12 in a standard Poly studio and I’m going to drop the reservation soon.

If anybody wants to message me, we can try to coordinate the drop so you can try to snag the day.

I am a dvc member but am staying at all stars during the event on Feb 12 can I still book it or do I have To be at a dvc resort

I’m also staying at All Stars and confirmed with DVC MS that a DVC blue card member can be staying at any WDW resort (even paying cash or renting points) and be eligible to register for MM on Wednesday.

If I am lucky enough to get MM reservations on Wednesday, I’ll call Disney and cancel my room reservation for The last night of my 3 night reservation at All Star Music, keeping the Monday and Tuesday (the day of MM) reservation. I plan on staying until Friday night and There are no rooms available in value for Thursday night, so I’ll get a reservation for Wednesday and Thursday off site and rent a car so I can visit a couple of places off site. I’m just hoping that cancelling Wednesday night doesn’t affect my MM reservation. I’ll double check with MS before doing it.
